Pizza Hut Smart Shoes Will Order You a Pizza

These shoes are just an advertisement for Pizza Hut, but they’re innovative nonetheless. After all, we can always use more pizza. These Pizza Hut Smart Shoes have embedded technology that allows wearers to order a pizza by simply pressing a button on the shoe. They are not high tops, but Pie Tops.

The shoes actually connect with a special ‘Pie Tops’ app to place a pre-designated order, so the shoes don’t order completely on their own. To promote the shoes, Pizza Hut has even released a 1990’s-style commercial to go with:

The shoes are a limited edition of course, with only 64 pairs being made. The number 64 represents the 64-team field in March Madness. All of the pairs will be given to the media and individuals considered to be ‘influencers.’ Hey I influence lots of people. Where are mine?

Pizza Hut Reveals DJ Pizza Box: Eat to the Beat

When DJs get hungry, they are now going to be turning to Pizza Hut. In a clever marketing gimmick, Pizza Hut UK has launched the “world’s first playable DJ pizza box”. Basically, a standard cardboard box rigged up with touch-sensitive decks, a mixer and other controllable buttons.

It was created by printed electronics expert Novalia. The battery-powered box connects to your computer or smartphone via Bluetooth and is compatible with a variety of DJ software. As shown in the videos below, you can scratch, rewind, control pitch and crossfade.

Pizza Hut will give a small number of them away and they will be limited to just five of Pizza Hut’s 350 UK restaurants, if you are a greasy fingered DJ. Now DJ’s can eat, then lay down the beat.

This LEGO Machine Dispenses Personal Pan Pizzas

Now this is a good use of LEGO bricks. This Pizza Hut themed machine that dispenses a personal pan pizza was made by Astonishing Studios. Not only will it give you a pizza, but it also gives you correct change after you insert a five dollar bill.

It works by using a light sensor that detects and counts the bills, so after the fifth bill is inserted it triggers the release of the pizza and the correct change. The machine holds two pizzas and change for two $5 purchases.

After receiving dozens of comments requesting a Pizza machine, I decided to unite “The Flavor of Now” with LEGO. Seeing that personal pan pizzas were the perfect size for a machine, I began designing and building a machine that accepted five dollars (with 71¢ change to match the real price) in exchange for a cheese pizza.

Pizza Hut really should have machines like this everywhere. I would hit one up right now. I say that because now I’m hungry.

Pepper the Robot to Work at Pizza Hut

SoftBank’s Pepper robot is growing up. After working at smartphone stores, it’s ready for a new career in the fast food industry. Pizza Hut Asia is partnering with MasterCard on a trial run that will use Pepper for taking orders and information in restaurants by the end of 2016.

Once you pair your MasterPass account, you can pay for your meal, and even ask the robot about the calorie count, if you like talking to robots. It’s quicker to order directly from your phone, but enjoy it for the gimmick that it is. Pepper should help to take some of the work load off of Pizza Hut’s staff, while creeping out customers. As you can see by the demo below, it’s already a master at moving cheesecake inventory.

At least it won’t be making your pizza, thank God. I can’t imagine that would not end well.

Pizza Hut Makes Delivery at 19,341 feet

Pizza Hut has grabbed a Guinness World Record we didn’t know even existed – and now holds the record the highest altitude pizza delivery on land. Pizza Hut Africa General Manager, Randall Blackford and a team of Pizza Hut employees made the delivery to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, reaching an altitude of 19,341 feet.

A six-day hike up a giant mountain to deliver a pizza doesn’t sound like fun, but at least the group also included several professional guides to get them there safely. The delivery was certified by Guinness and was performed to celebrate Pizza Hut opening a location in its 100th country.

The pie was a large pepperoni if you are wondering, the king of pizzas. It appears to have been carried in some sort of a heater oven thingy. I wonder if it tasted okay after six days of travel. Am I the only one who can’t think of Pizza Hut without thinking about Spaceballs?

This Pizza Hut Box Turns Into a Projector

Pizza Hut knows how to make a good pizza. They also know how to market their pizza. Check this out. The Blockbuster Box is a pizza box that turns into a projector.

The box, once emptied of pizza, lets you place your smartphone inside, at a certain distance from an included lens. The lens is attached to the plastic device that prevents the box from getting crushed in transit. That plastic piece doubles as the phone stand. So all you have to do after you eat your pizza is poke the precut hole in the front, put in the lens, put your phone in, and aim at your wall! Instant projector. Sure, it’s probably not very bright, but still.

What could be better than a pizza and a projector? Even better, there is a code on the side of the box for customers to scan and unlock viewable content. This is a great idea which comes from ad agency Ogilvy & Mather Group HK and their Chief Creative Officer Reed Collins.

The box comes in four styles: “from the horror themed Slice Night, sci-fi spectacle Anchovy Armageddon, bizarrely romantic Hot and Ready, and the thrilling Fully Loaded.” Sadly, it’s only available in Hong Kong.

We’re not sure who is coming up with marketing ideas at Pizza Hut, or even if it’s all the same person, but we’re impressed. Because to their pizzas with Cheeseburgers, Meat Pies, and Hot Dogs in the crust, you can now add another innovation: the Blockbuster Box, a pizza box that turns into a projector. The box, once emptied of its delicious content, lets you place your smartphone inside, at the ideal distance from an included lens. This lens comes attached to the plastic device that prevents the box from getting crushed in transit. The plastic device itself doubles as the phone stand. So all you have to do is poke the precut hole in the front, fit the lens, prop your phone up inside, and aim at your screen (which could simply be your wall!). There’s a code on the side for customers to scan and unlock viewable content, should there be nothing interesting on their devices.

Pizza Hut Australia Gets Epic Meat Pie Pizza: Incepizza

I LOVE pizza. If I had to pick one food to eat for the rest of my life, it wouldn’t be cherry Pez, it would be pizza. Right now, I think the best pizza I have ever eaten comes from a local joint, and it is packed with everything. I mean everything this side of anchovies because they are disgusting. If it’s a normal, non-fish topping or vegetable it’s on this thing. The name is simply “The Six Pound Pizza” because it’s got so damn much stuff on it that’s what it weighs. I’ve got the meat sweats just thinking about it. I find myself a little grossed out and strangely hungry at the same time when I look at the latest creation that Pizza Hut is offering in Australia. It’s no Six Pound Pizza, but it is a pizza with little meat pies baked right into the crust.

The pie is apparently a tie up between stoner snack firm Four’N Twenty and Pizza Hut. I really want a piece, but I sort of hate myself for it. Why doesn’t Pizza Hut have any weird, yet strangely enticing pizzas in the U.S.?
