Dalek Sewing Caddy Exterminates with Cuteness
Isn’t this little guy adorable? He looks like a Dalek, but I’ve never seen a Dalek looking this cute. Now that you’ve seen him, I’m sure he’s the envy of all you Doctor Who crafters out there.
Rene24601 participated in the Craftster Doctor Who crafts exchange. As the name implies, members of the group exchange crafts projects. Rene must have been super excited when she pulled this thing out of the box, lovingly created by craftyzooprgrl. Also included were nifty Cyberman, TARDIS, and Adipos pins and the weeping angel needle threader you see in the pic.
This is really nice work. The cutting edge of Doctor Who crafts. I want one – just because.

5 Foot Tall Sewn Pitfall Cartridge
It’s an epic geek craft from Snaggs! This 5 foot tall, 4 foot wide by 10 inch vinyl Pitfall cartridge takes the original Atari game to awesome DIY levels. Yes, it’s really that big- that’s not a room of miniature furniture above. In fact here’s the creator lying on top of it holding the original Pitfall cartridge for scale:
Besides the incredible detail, which you can see below, this game has one more trick up it’s sleeve. When you push down on Pitfall Harry’s pocket, it makes the “jumping over gators” sound. Do want.
Incredible handiwork. The other cool part- it’s for sale! Doesn’t say how much (or how you would ship it) but contact Snaggs through her website above if you want to own it. Awesomesauce.
Sewwwww Cool!
If you’ve ever looked closely at a sewing machine, then you know they are generally quite daunting with all their knobs, buttons, gizmos and other gadgets. Susanne Eichel’s latest creation, however, might just be the Apple iPad of sewing machines. With its aluminum unibody, minmal aesthetic, straightforward controls, and overall user-friendliness, it makes sewing seem within reach to anyone. So simple that the knobs’ labels are even in German and you’ll still know what they do!

Muppets Eyeglasses Holders
Let the Muppets hold your glasses! These handmade crocheted Muppet heads are a great place to put your glasses down so you won’t lose them, knock them off the table, or scratch up your furniture. Would work great for sunglasses too, and of course you could make any character you wanted, not just Muppets (although Muppets are kinda the best, right?) There’s a full on stitch by stitch tutorial over on craftster, so if things like “sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc around” mean something to you, then go make your own.
7500 Pixels in this Sheldon Cooper Pixel Quilt
Check out this amazing Big Bang Theory craft from Candy Coated Quilts. It’s everyone’s favorite TV geek Sheldon Cooper made up of 7500 “pixels” of quilt patches. Each of those pieces of fabric measures 1.5″ square.
She calls this a pixelquilt. You’re probably thinking that it takes a long time to cut and sew this many squares into a quilt. And you’d be correct. This big Sheldon was started in July and only completed six months later in January. Well at least it was finished in time for some cold weather. Bazinga! Bazinga indeed, sir. (hat tip)
Felt Star Wars Creations: Stitch Wars
As you know, it’s pretty hard for us to pass up fun Star Wars items around these parts, so when I saw these quirky felt Star Wars plushes over on Etsy, I had to oblige and post them.
They’re made by E. Binard, and they’re some of the cutest Star Wars creations I’ve seen. You can choose from a felt Jawa, R2-D2 or Yoda, but I personally dig the hand-stitched AT-AT and Millennium Falcon. I bet that it could even make the Kessel Run in under twelve parsecs.
The felt Admiral Ackbar is pretty nifty too – though the fishhead will constantly be reminding you that whatever you’re planning on doing is a trap.
Prices for these handmade Star Wars felt creations range from $40 to $195 (USD) depending on the size and complexity of the design. Check them all out over on E. Binard’s Etsy shop.
Dalek Purse Exterminates All Other Handbags
Doctor Who seems to be in the midst of a major renaissance of late. I can’t go a day lately without coming across some sort of awesome Doctor Who inspired craft, like this Dalek purse.
This strikingly accurate and detailed Dalek handbag was made by Krukru Studio (who also happens to make a TARDIS bag.) The handmade felt bag measures about 13.8″ tall, 9.4″ wide at the bottom, and 4.7″ wide at the top. While its odd shape and size isn’t exactly the most practical for carrying lots of stuff around, it should work pretty well for toting around your wallet, a couple of lipsticks, and your Sonic Screwdriver.
So if you’re read to purge the universe of all your other purses, grab the Dalek purse now over on Etsy for $190(USD).
Artist Turns Geeky Characters into Fat Cats
Etsy is a great place to find wonderful handmade crafts, and every once in a while I come across something I can honestly say I’ve not seen before. What we have here is some of our favorite sci-fi, movie and video game characters – all transformed into fat cats by Kathleen over at Fat Cat Crafts.
Oh, and these aren’t just any overweight felines, no. The cats of Fat Cat Crafts all function as pincushions, so if you’re into sewing, you can keep your spare needles and pins in them. (Or if you just want to put a voodoo curse on your cat.) My favorite has to be the highly-detailed Boba Fett fat cat (Boba Fatt?), complete with jet pack, though I do like the sound of ”Shat Fat Cat” rolling off of my tongue too…
Among Kathleen’s other handmade creations are Han Solo, Darth Vader, Princess Leia, Mario, Luigi, Doctor Who, Obi Wan Kenobi and Indiana Jones (complete with pipe-cleaner whip) – all in fat cat form.
Prices range from $17 to $23 (USD) for the geeky fat cat pincushions over at Fat Cat Crafts’s Etsy shop.
Leese Design iPhone Cases: You Can Sew Your Own Way!
I’ve probably seen thousands of iPhone cases, but only a couple interested me enough that I ended up buying them. While I’m not a snob, I’m well aware that a case that doesn’t feature a nice design ethos won’t please me for long. These cases from Korea’s Leese Design incorporate a bit of DIY style to make each one unique.
The DIY Stipin case from Leese Design has an embroidered design on its back. The case comes in a variety of complete pre-stitched designs, but what’s really fun is that buyers can cross-stitch their own designs if they want to. There are pattern guides available for those of us not that nimble with a needle, which should allow everyone to complete a case like this. Oh, and those cute little pins are designed to plug into your headphone jack when not in use.
The cases sell from Leese Design for ₩48,000 (~$48 USD) but the DIY version sells for just ₩30,000 (~$30 USD).
