Dinosaur Ladle: For Cream of Brachiosaurus Soup

This is the dinosaur ladle. It is the next logical step in the evolution of the Nessie ladle.  It will stir, ladle, pour, and stand on it’s own when you aren’t using it. Basically it is all kinds of dino-mite!

You can never have too many novelty ladles in your kitchen. Besides, your Loch Ness Monster ladle needs some company. Now you have two. You can make them fight in your soup until one drowns and melts, pretending your tomato bisque is really a fiery tar pit. Two monsters enter, one monster leaves. Welcome to DinoThunderDome!

Campbell’s Star Wars Soup Cans: The Sporks Awaken

We’re just a couple of days away from Star Wars Day (May the Fourth), and to celebrate the occasion, there’s all kinds of Star Wars merch turning up this month. If you’re looking to stock your cupboard with some delicious soup, then there’s no better way to do it than with some limited-edition Star Wars: The Force Awakens Campbell’s Soup cans.

The soups will come in cans featuring images of Rey, Finn, Kylo Ren and BB-8, and the soup inside is a chicken and chicken broth with Star Wars pasta shapes. They haven’t said what those exact shapes are, but I’m hoping for some tiny edible X-Wings and TIE Fighters.

Keep your eyes out on grocery store shelves for these. They’re expected to hit stores later this month.

Keurig Teams Up With Campbell To Launch K-Pod Soup

Screen Shot 2015-09-13 at 8.01.00 PM

Did you ever say to yourself “Gee, I really wish I could make a soup as easily as I make my morning coffee!” No? Neither have we, but the good folks at Keurig and Campbell are undeterred anyway. They’re announced the launch of Campbell’s Fresh-Brewed Soup, which is probably as delicious as it sounds (note sarcasm). Basically the noodles and the broth come separate: you pop the noodles in a bowl, place the pod in your Keurig machine and let the hot broth cover the noodles. After two minutes your soup is good to go. Initially you’ll be able to choose from Homestyle Chicken Broth & Noodle Mix, and Southwest Style Chicken Broth & Noodle Mix. These are pretty basic flavours, and that’s just as well since we can’t imagine how something more creamy or thick might taste. We also don’t know if your coffee will end up with a bit of a poultry aftertaste after brewing your soup, or if your soup will have coffee undertones, but that’s for you to find out. The company does recommend running a hot water cycle before and after the soup-making, so that might help. It’s $12 for an 8-pack.

Loch Ness Monster Ladle

nessie ladle
The Loch Ness Monster is real. Really in your soup that is. Whether you believe in Nessie or not, you can get into the spirit of the Scottish Highlands with the Nessie Ladle. With it’s long neck it peeks out of your soup pot, glaring at you with those mythologically accurate eyes (a paradox some might say but who doth sayeth that let ye rest thy mouth foreveth more. or something like that. eth.) What is that in my soup anyway, this tastes funny.

A functionally neat aspect of this soup ladle is that it actually has 4 legs (unlike the real Nessie which clearly has no legs. clearly) so it can stand up either in your soup or on your counter. Or anywhere else you’d stash a ladle.

The Nessie Ladle is made of plastic and measures 10.43″ x 4.33″ x 3.54″. That’s pretty precise.

Chicken Soup for the Soul Finally Gives You More Than Just Stories

Chicken Soup for the Soul

For decades, the Chicken Soup for the Soul series have touched people’s hearts and warmed their insides the way hot chicken soup can. What started out as a single title expanded to include dozens of books, each containing anecdotes and stories with a hidden lesson or two.

Its creators must’ve decided that touching lives with the written word wasn’t enough, because they now want to warm people up and feed their souls and stomach with actual chicken soup. The Chicken Soup for the Soul brand of Chicken Noodle Soup is apparently “inspired by your stories about food and feelings.” I’m not sure how you can add “feelings” to ready-to-serve soup, but I suppose that’s marketing for you.

Aside from instant soup, the brand will also be stamping their brand on broths, gravy, sauces, soup toppers, and even pet food. It doesn’t come as a surprise, considering there are numerous volumes under their Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul series.

KFC Japan Offers Fried Soup: Finger Burnin’ Good!

Japan is home to many great things. But it’s also the place that brought us phone cases that look like sushi, and a wearable biometric cat tail. And now, they have come up with deep fried soup.

kentucky fried soup

Yes, you heard that right. At KFC locations in Japan, they are now offering a corn soup that has been deep fried and turned into delicious soup nuggets. While they probably taste like corn fritters, the fact that they’re filled with scalding hot soup can’t be a good idea.
