Panasonic’s 15-min WFH cubicle brings the simplicity of Japanese aesthetic home

If the pandemic has taught me one lesson it is how to optimize your space to live and work. And then leveled up that lesson by adding a sibling into the mix so now I have to optimize a small space for two of us to work and live. Times like this is when I wish I had a little partition so I could focus, it is not so much about wanting a whole room to work but a designated area that puts you in the zone is certainly helpful. Panasonic has designed a simple solution to draw boundaries between work and play without taking up too much space with their Komoru cubicle and I need to order two when they launch on September 18th, 2020!

The Japanese brand has infused this mini cubicle with simple details that help you work efficiently while not adding visual bulk to your interior space. Working from home has had many of us come up with creative ways to stay productive –  this Komoru cubicle saves your time and effort. You can easily assemble the desk and partition at home which are the two main structural components. Unlike a traditional office cubicle, this is four feet tall which allows you to see over the partition walls while still sitting at your desk.

It is a quick way to create a private work corner especially if you are living in a shared space. Thoughtful design details like the perforations in the panels and hooks help you keep your desk clutter-free and make the most of the walls by hanging your accessories like your headphones, pictures, work essentials, and more on the side. The desk assembles in 15 minutes and will blend in with your interiors seamlessly. The global pivot towards work from home was very much needed and designs that can give us our dedicated space make the change a positive one!

This flexible workspace was designed to function for introverts and extroverts alike!

Segment is a conceptual workspace designed to make group work efficient while still giving each user a fair amount of personal space. If you have ever worked on a group project you know that having your space is as essential as not having five tangled chargers cluttering up the desk. The minimal form of the agile workspace masks the detailed research conducted by Hoare that takes into account the users’ needs, mindset, and work ethic based on their personality type in a group.

Hoare chose the CMF that can create a welcoming and accomodating environment without compromising on the aesthetics or functionality. The dividers create four work zones on the 2-meter wide desk and each zone comes with their own set of wireless charging points and cable management ports. “The partitions also bring another benefit with them alongside privacy; the upholstered finish introduces an element of acoustic dampening, reducing the noise levels in the room allowing the user to achieve a higher level of focus,” says Hoare on his thought process behind choosing the divider and its material. To keep the desk free of wires, there are channels on the underside of the surface that provide routing for the cables from the wireless tabletop chargers.

Created specifically for students pursuing higher education, it is ideal for any individual and also provides them with their own zone with unobtrusive dividers when working with multiple people so that they can continue to focus. Using ethnographic research methods, focus groups, direct interviews, and task-analysis were carried on to determine how Segment can provide a collaborative space while also taking the environment and user behavior into account. The desk works for introverts and extroverts while solving common issues like bag storage, noise, enough power sockets, and more that make it suited to a flexible modern lifestyle.

This desk design’s attention to detail makes it perfect for organization addicts!

By now we have all figured out a spot that works for us while we work from home. Since we had to practically adapt overnight, we didn’t have the chance to make our work corner ‘work’ for us – the right desk, chair, lighting, and perhaps a coffee machine? The new normal is seeing a big wave of change as more and more companies are letting employees work from home even after lockdown ends, so now we have the time to prepare and let us start with this Shelter desk!

The Shelter desk is a project that is coming to life because the designer was on a quest for the perfect desk. If you are someone who loves to have a clean, organized, clutter-free desk then this is the one for you! It was designed keeping in mind all the devices, wires, and accessories that live on our work stations, however, Shelter still remains minimal while maximizing the value of a desk. There are three slim drawers on the front side that are big enough to store your gadgets, like tablets or laptops. The back drawer was designed for you to hide all your cables and chargers. But the beauty of this desk lies in the curved drawers that give this desk its fluidity while retaining the functionality of the design.

“This is a personal project I wanted to develop for a long time, I’ve designed it with a minimal approach and dynamic lines aligning the angles of each component for better fluidity,” says the designer. The Shelter desk was created for organization addicts but the simple, warm design will make any interior enthusiast fall in love with this piece. This desk is the simplest yet most productive work from home furniture I have seen – no bells and whistles, just good design.

Lie down and work from home without compromising on your productivity!

At first glance, the Altwork mechanical desk can remind you of the dentist’s work station but this is actually the craziest desk I have seen since I started looking for things that can up my work-from-home game. This desk is designed to suit your every need and really just whim at this point. Stand up desk? Yes! Lie down desk? Also, yes! As outrageous as it might be to spend close to $8000 on a work desk, I will admit that it would be nice to have one of these Altwork stations.

The Altwork desk claims to be the ultimate in productivity and ergonomics….and I agree, I have never seen a desk so flexible that it is practically a gymnast who also cares about your posture. This desk encourages productivity by molding itself to any position that you feel your best in. I personally love to stand and work but I don’t like being stuck in the same place, I work best when I move around and this desk allows me the freedom to do both! There is a demographic that may have health problems which makes it hard for them to sit at a conventional desk and chair in an office. This causes them to lose out on many job opportunities that they might excel at simply because there wasn’t a solution for “How will they sit in the office?” but, thankfully, technology today has given us the ability to work from anywhere and this desk’s shape-shifting form makes it a part of the inclusive design world which caters to the needs of differently-abled. Productivity and health is a universal right.

It is also healthy to keep changing our work positions throughout the day, so alternate between the usual reclining, standing and sitting but also come up with some innovative positions. Like can you do a yoga pose that is good for your back while sitting on this? Probably, yes. With the comfortable headrest and footrest, you can also nap right after your work is done. This desk is work-from-home furniture goals.
