Bunny Light: Here Comes Peter Lightin’ Tail

Easter is just around the corner, so if you’re into doing more than hiding eggs and eating Peeps for the holiday, here’s something fun to add to your festive decor.

The Bunny Light is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a porcelain white bunny rabbit, but its fluffy white tail lights up. It’s made by our friends over at SuckUK, and will look cute sitting on a table or shelf long after the holiday has passed. This bunny has a cool LED light source in its tail, and is powered by USB. Though you might not want to buy two of them, as they do have a tendency to multiply quickly.

Rabbit fans can hop on over to SuckUK and grab a Bunny Light for £60 (~$91 USD). Keep in mind that it comes with a UK USB/AC adaptor in the box, so you’ll need to provide your own, or plug it into your computer.

LEGO Minifig Cake Pops: These Bricks Were Made for Eatin’

If you’ve been following Technabob for any time at all, you know that I love LEGO and I love cake. So when I saw that somebody had combined the two with such brilliance, I just had to mention it.

These LEGO minifigs are actually edible cake pops. You know, those little bits of cake that give you just enough of a taste that your sugar addiction kicks into high gear and you need to eat 10 of them?

These cake pops were made by Cake Power Cakes, and they look like they were pretty easy to assemble. They made them by combining cake crumbs and buttercream and pressing it into a pan, then cutting out the cylindrical minifig head shapes and stacked modeling chocolate above and below them on lollipop sticks.

They then coated them in melted yellow candies for the perfect LEGO yellow gloss. Of course the tricky part was painting on all the tiny facial details. Speaking from experience, that takes real talent – especially when working with edibles.

Optimus Prime Nutcracker Will Transform Your Nuts into Rubble

Christmas may be more than 9 months away, but that doesn’t mean you can’t start preparing early, right? Actually, who says nutcrackers are only good for the holidays anyhow – especially when they look like this?

optimus prime nutcracker

Yep, that’s an Optimus Prime nutcracker. It was handmade by Bart Sandel of Art by Bart, and I can think of no better way to crack into your nuts but with an Autobot. Though Soundwave might be able to smash through them just using the sounds from his mighty tape deck. Optimus Nutcracker stands 15.5 inches-tall, and 10.5 inches-wide, which should be plenty big enough to crack even the toughest of nuts.

The Optimus Prime nutcracker is for sale over on Etsy for $400(USD), which could also buy you about 75 pounds of already shelled nuts and an Optimus Prime action figure.

Half-Life Gets the Stained Glass Treatment

Fans of the Half-Life series will immediately recognize the Lambda logo in this image. But this isn’t just some patch on Gordon Freeman’s uniform, no. This is a handmade work of art – a geeky stained glass masterpiece if you ask me.

half life stained glass

It was made by Evan Daniels of Martian Glasswork – the same man behind the Iron Man and Master Chief stained glass works featured here before. This window measures 25″ x 25″ and was cut from 34 individual pieces of glass. Each of the textures in the center of the symbol is unique, which really makes an already special piece just that much more special.

This one-of-a-kind piece is available over on Etsy for $500(USD). I’m surprised the guys at Valve haven’t snatched it up to put it alongside their life-size TF2 gun and their Portal turret replica.

LEGO Lathe Performs Spinjitzu on Foam

Over the years, there have been numerous attempts to make motorized shop tools out of LEGO. Now, the guy behind the LEGO 3D milling machine is back with a new creation – a lathe that can create custom forms by tracing a simple outline.

lego lathe

Arthur Sacek actually made his first LEGO lathe back in 2005, and now he’s remade the machine and shared it with the world to enjoy. The machine uses LEGO RCX components (now known as Mindstorms), and can cut cylindrical forms from floral foam using a spinning bit. To make a shape, Arthur loads up a block of foam, then draws a curve profile on a white piece of paper. The system then automatically traces the line and carves the shape from the rapidly-spinning foam. It’s quite impressive in action:

The LEGO motors probably aren’t powerful enough to turn wood, though I wonder if it could handle something soft like balsa.

Psychedelic Plumber: Mario on ‘Shrooms

I always wondered if any of the fungi in the Mushroom Kingdom were hallucinogenic – especially the ones that turned Mario into a flying raccoon or made him bigger. Well now we have our answer.

psychedelic plumber

In Josh Mirman’s illustration, Psychedelic Plumber, we get a look at Mario the way that he might have looked if we were eating some of the same ‘shrooms that he did. Actually, I always imagined that this is what the world looks like when you eat one of those Mario stars.

The image is comprised of colorful triangles which will definitely drive your eyes wild if you look at them for too long. That said, it would be cool if Nintendo made a Mario game using triangular shapes instead of square pixels.

Time is Short Watch Reminds You That Time is Running out

Sometimes you just feel like time is getting away from you. But no matter how hard we try, time keeps marching on. While most of us probably don’t need a reminder that we’re getting older and older, sometimes it’s good to have a tangible reminder so we live each day to its fullest. That’s the aim of this watch, which serves as a constant reminder of our gradual march towards the grave.

xray watch 1

The Time is Short watch features an image of a wrist wearing a small analog watch, but when you turn the watch over, it turns into a skeletal image of that same wrist and hand. While it’s at it, the watch transforms from a black background to a white one.

The watch is also perfect for radiologists, doctors, anthropologists and morticians. The Time is Short watch is made from brushed stainess steel and has a black silicone band, and sells for $129.95(USD) over at Gadgets and Gear.

Space Invaders Wall Vent Lets Aliens Flow Freely into Your Living Room

Personally, the idea of letting space aliens into my home makes me nervous. I’m not sure if they’d want to do some sort of invasive probing, or just cut my brain open to see what’s inside. Either way, I’d rather keep the invaders out. But if you feel at home with the idea of visitors from another planet hanging out in your space, then you might want to let them in through the air ducts.

space invaders air vent cover

These fun Space Invaders wall vent covers feature cutouts of the entire Space Invaders game field, and are laser cut from plywood by Little Big Laser Design Studio. Though you might need to move your cannon quickly, since it appears you have no defenses left. That could only mean one thing – alien dust bunnies will be coming out of your vents soon!

If you happen to live in a part of the world where wall vents are small squares, like in the UK, you’re in luck. Here in the good old U.S. of A., air registers look completely different. Though even if you don’t use this to cover up your air vents, you could always screw it to the wall and just admire it on its artistic merits. You can find one over on Etsy for £14.99 (~$23 USD) each.
