Top 10 Living Room Accessories gift guide to achieve your lifestyle goals along with your interior goals

Did you know the term “living room” dates back to the 1890s? The term was invented by Edward Bok, editor of the Ladies’ Home Journal to describe the primary space of a house. These rooms were originally called parlors, and were used as entertaining spaces for guests. Bok came up with the idea that these rooms were also for ‘living’ and not just for entertaining guests once a week. Thus, the idea of a personalized space was born. The Living Room, as Bok suggested, is supposed to be a place that reflects your personality and your sense of living. So we decided to curate products that are uniquely useful as well as aesthetic, making your home worth ‘living’ in! These include whimsical lamps shaped like the moon, minimalist furniture that can expand to accommodate more people, a wooden map to chart your wanderlust and some more surprises in this list. One thing is for sure, you will not be able to ignore these awesome pieces!

1. Briiv Air Filter

When we say air purifier, the first thing that comes to mind is a clunky box sitting in a corner that is hopefully improving the air we breathe. While that may be efficient, it is certainly not aesthetic which is why Briiv created a revolution with its launch. Briiv is a household terrarium that removes HEPA filters and UV lights for something more natural in its approach. The filter holds special, sustainable-grown dried moss that purifies your air by trapping harmful particles, killing microorganisms and in return releasing fresh clean air. Briiv is as powerful as 3,043 medium size houseplants and sitting underneath the moss are multiple bio-filters, including one made from loosely woven coconut fibers, another filter comprising carbon-infused hemp, and a woollen microfibre filter that together combines to filter particles as small as PM 0.3. This natural approach allows us to reduce wastage caused by discarded HEPA filters. Briiv is the future of sustainable design – merging natural components with technology to create products that help us lead a better life!

4. Teno Speaker & Light

Do you know what Kintsugi is? It’s the art of mending broken ceramics using gold to seal the cracks. The Teno by Lumio uses this crack as a design detail! The beautiful lamp + speaker is inspired by a cracked bowl and it uses a cracked exterior that gently separates into two. As the crack widens, you begin to see the signs of life underneath as the lamp below is revealed, shining through the cracks with its life-affirming message of hope. When shut, Teno functions as a beautifully crafted bowl sculpture, when partially cracked, it reveals a soft and warm light, and functions as a lamp. And when fully opened, it’s a powerful speaker, which releases a rich sound that you can control through touch. The bowl-shaped outer body comes cast in resin and sand, deviating entirely from the plastic, fabric, and metal you’d find in other lamps and speakers.

This air purifier hangs from your ceiling to give light and a sense of calm

Thanks to the recent pandemic, air purifiers have become more popular and more common inside homes. Most of these come in tall boxes or cylinders that stand somewhere on the floor, a design that makes it easy to move it around where it’s needed. As they become a more common presence, however, it might make sense to start integrating them into room interiors or, at the very least, make them look like a natural part of the room’s design. There are, admittedly, quite a few new air purifiers that look a little more presentable than others, but this design concept really makes the air purifier an important part of the home, just like how lights are critical to a livable abode.

Designers: Hanyoung Lee, Eunji Ko

The standard design of air purifiers is based more on practical needs and technical considerations than anything else. But while they try to offer peace of mind regarding the air we breathe indoors, their presence also causes a bit of subconscious stress because they are conspicuous reminders that the air might not be that clean or safe after all. There are now a few air purifiers with more stylish appearances, but they still stand apart from the rest of your interior design, calling attention to themselves.

Abell, in contrast, is a little more discreet. In fact, if not for the dangling controller, you might not even notice its presence since it isn’t at eye level. Even when you do see it, you might easily mistake it for an odd-looking pendant lamp. In reality, it actually does function as one, but that’s only a secondary function. It is, first and foremost, an air purifier, just one that comes in the shape of a hanging lamp as well as a bell, hence the name.

Hanging an air purifier where you’d normally hang a lamp is both genius and practical. These are areas that often get a lot of foot traffic, which makes an air purifier more necessary. Its elevated position also lets it take in and blow out the air more easily without any obstructions. More importantly, it also doesn’t get in the way of people going about their daily lives.

Abell’s form is designed to also evoke some sense of calm and relaxation, at least depending on where you’re coming from. As mentioned, it’s shaped like a bell but closer to the temple bells used in many Asian cultures. These bells are rung as a prayer and wish for something good, often for good health and prosperity. It’s not by coincidence that these are the exact same things that this air purifier is intended to bring into your home.

Air purification concept uses drone system for bigger spaces

Whether we’re in a pandemic or at the tail end of it, it’s important that we’re breathing in good air even when we’re indoors. Air purification systems have become a necessity, especially for spaces where a lot of people go in and out. Sometimes though just one stationary purifier will not be enough, whether it’s a small place or a big one. What if you could have a couple of air purifiers that can go around the room and do the job?

Designer: Albert Rakhimzhanov

The idea behind the Ultro air purification system is to have something that can work both stationary and mobile. Basically, think of it as a combination of a drone and an air purifier. You can have it just clean the air surrounding it when it’s docked into the station. But if you release it from its docking mode and let it go mobile, it can go around the room and clean the air through its ultraviolet light power. The main purpose is of course to help prevent airborne diseases from going around and infecting the people in the room.

In case you have a phobia of blades hitting people, the device has a protective “diaphragm” that protects people from the blades but still lets it perform its function. The system looks like a mini satellite dish stand while the mobile drone looks like your typical drone. The body is made from aluminum while the legs are wooden. The rotors have a coaxial arrangement which makes it ideal for when the drone is in the station and it can perform its fan function. It can also serve as a floor lamp since there is an LED backlight on the edges.

Just like with an ordinary drone, you need to configure things on its accompanying smart app. In fact, the actual device only has one physical button (a configurable one) so everything else has to be done through the app. It can work on its own but if you have a bigger area like a hospital, school, or a public space, it’s ideal to have several stations in the area and the drone part can move in between these stations while it’s purifying the area around it.

This cleanroom grade air purifier functions as a headboard, allowing you to sleep in a completely pure bubble of air

Sitting at the intersection of ingenious design and complex engineering, the AirTulip is an air purifier that’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before. The AirTulip Sleep is a high-powered air purifier that’s designed as a headboard, fitting seamlessly into the decor of your home. It comes with a soft, cushiony exterior that’s comfortable to rest against, but underneath its surface is a medical-grade laminar flow purifier that purifies the air you breathe in a way that your regular air purifier cannot. This type of airflow has only ever been used in clinical and laboratory settings – until now. The AirTulip Sleep brings revolutionary technology into the home for the very first time, enveloping you in an invisible cocoon of completely clean air as you sleep.

Designer: Arjen de Jong

Click Here to Buy Now: $999 $1470 (32% off). Hurry, only 3/5 left! Raised over $115,000.

To understand the AirTulip Sleep, it’s essential to first understand the technology behind it, a unique type of airflow called laminar flow. Imagine your regular air purifier. It sucks dirty air in through its rear and pushes out clean air through the front. The clean air mixes with the air in your room, and gradually over time, the dirty air is replaced with clean air. The key word here is ‘gradually’. Laminar air flow works differently. It creates a chamber of clean air that doesn’t mix with the dirty air. Sort of like two layers of atmosphere laminated over each other, laminar flow systems create instant clean air pockets that can exist on their own, without mixing with the contaminated or dust-filled air. This works rather well in cleanrooms in medical labs, operating rooms, hospitals, and even scientific facilities that require a sterile environment. AirTulip brings that technology to the bedroom.

By integrating laminar flow into its slim, retrofittable headboard design, the AirTulip Sleep effectively creates a bubble of clean air around you as you sleep. It doesn’t ‘blow’ air, as one would suspect, but rather simply outputs clean air without creating a breeze that affects your ambient room temperature or your ability to sleep. The clean air hovers around you, preventing ‘unclean’ air around the room from even reaching you. Meanwhile, the AirTulip Sleep works silently, purifying the air in your room up to 99.9997% (thanks to its medical-grade ULPA filters), indicating absolute air purity.

Everything You Need – Built-in wireless charging for your smartphone, ambient lighting, reading lamps, power outlets, USB charging, and convenient storage.

Ambient Lighting – The AirTulip Sleep offers beautiful lighting and fully adjustable reading lights.

As impressive as the laminar air purifier is, what really makes the AirTulip Sleep worthy of praise in a design magazine is its sheer creative implementation. The AirTulip Sleep is designed to look and function exactly like a padded headboard. It fits on all standard bed sizes, and comes in a variety of colors to match your room’s decor. In a world where purifiers are just about trying to shake their image as industrial-looking appliances by opting for sleeker designs, the AirTulip Sleep practically disappears into your room’s decor, serving its main purpose in an invisible manner while making your bed look infinitely classy. It also comes with add-on specifications including ambient lighting, storage, reading lamps, and charging ports. Depending on where you are, the AirTulip Sleep comes with its own plug to match your country’s socket shape and power requirements, and starts at a low early-bird price of $999.

Purific humidifier and air purifier concept hits all the right notes

There has been a great deal of interest and concern in the quality of the air we breathe, especially indoors and at home. This has led to a rise in the sales of air purifiers, humidifiers, and dehumidifiers, as well as a burst in creativity in their designs. Most appliances of this kind stand on the floor or over tables, often as cylindrical or boxy towers. That’s not the only way to design an air purifier, of course, and plenty of concept designs have popped up to push those boundaries. One, in particular, is quite intriguing because it combines the ideas that designers love into an attractive package that can stick to your wall or stand anywhere in your room.

Designer: Doğan Mert Güven

There’s really no rule that an air purifier has to be some tall object. It just happens to be the most convenient form for something that has to be placed in a strategic corner or even the center of a room. It has to be able to suck in surrounding air and blow out processed air in the most efficient manner, but that’s also just limiting the places where the appliance can be placed.

Purific, in contrast, comes as a flat box that can be placed on a wall or stand on the floor, table, or shelf. Its central design is inspired by natural shapes as well as zen gardens, creating a more calming visual compared to the usual grilles and vents of an air purifier. It also comes with ambient light on its back to reinforce that soothing imagery. That light happens to also be a notification when it’s time to clean the filter.

In addition to a more aesthetic design, Purific is also envisioned to be a sustainable product. Its Plasma Filter isn’t something you need to throw away and replace when it gets too dirty. You simply have to clean it and reuse it over and over again. It is also meant to be easy to repair and replace broken parts, while its body is designed with sustainable materials in mind.

And more than just purifying and humidifying the air in the room, it also diffuses essential oils using recyclable capsules. The removable module that holds these capsules also functions as a clock which goes in line with its design as a wall decoration. Whether it is more effective in drawing in and pushing out air is probably something that needs to be tested, but it’s a design that is worth considering, especially since it checks all the right boxes.

The post Purific humidifier and air purifier concept hits all the right notes first appeared on Yanko Design.

Split serves as both partition and air purifier for your space

If you live in a condo or work a lot in an office space, an air purifier is a must-have especially if you’re not able to open your windows often. Most of the time though, these devices are placed by the wall or close to the wall since you don’t want them to take up much space. It would be better though if you could place them in the middle of the room so it is able to “purify” the entire space well. So the idea is to make it multi-functional or at least integrate it into your room’s decoration.

Designers: Hyeona Cho, Seung-A Lee, Chae Eun Park

The idea for Split is to be a partition-type Air Purifier so you’ll be able to place it in the center of your room and it can also serve as a divider for your space. And of course, the main idea is that it will be able to absorb the dust and clean up the air in your workspace or living space. It looks like a very thin air conditioner and is designed to be 1200-1500 mm high so it can bring you “stable space separation” of big areas in the room.

The way it works is that it takes in the dust which is usually found on the floor and then “exhales” the clean air upwards and on the other side. There is a small display at the topmost part where you are able to turn it on and off and to adjust the air volume as well. You will also be able to see what level the indoor air you’re inhaling is at, whether it’s good or bad so you can adjust the volume accordingly. It’s also easy to clean as the two filters can be pulled out quickly on either side of the partition.

You can also connect two or more of the purifiers and they are designed to blend into your space. One side uses fabric material while the other side has a pattern type design, giving you the impression that you’re in two different but similar spaces. The product renders show three different colors: white, green, and flesh. I can see it fitting perfectly both in my home and in our office so hopefully, we do get an actual Split soon.

LG, the tech company, is now making ‘smart-tables’ that can purify air

Air purifiers look boring… so why not turn them into functional furniture pieces?

Although it seems unlikely for a company like LG to dabble in the furniture space, their functional furniture line Aero makes a tad bit of sense. Unveiled at IFA 2022 being held in Berlin, LG’s Aero “blurs the line between beautiful furniture and advanced air purifier, offering a design that can be tailored to meet individual preferences, 360-degree air purification and user-friendly features”, the company said.

Designer: LG

Meet the PuriCare Objet Collection Aero Furniture series (or Aero for short), a set of table-shaped air purifiers from LG. Designed to work as a 360-degree air purifier, the Aero can be placed pretty much anywhere in your room, and comes armed with LG’s Ultra-fine filter, Dust Collector Filter, and Deodorization Filter, ensuring clean air is delivered all across your room. The table comes in three color variants and in both oblong or round shapes.

Although, calling the PuriCare Objet Collection Aero Furniture series just a table-shaped air purifier would be somewhat of a disservice. The Memphis 2.0-ish furniture pieces also have built-in mood lights and even the ability to charge your phone/earbuds using a disc-shaped integrated wireless charging zone on the tabletop surface. Wattage on the wireless charging hasn’t yet been specified, although LG did mention that the purifier can be controlled using a series of buttons on the underside of the table’s surface, while the mood light itself can be operated using the LG ThinQ app. My biggest concern, however, remains the fact that even though the table’s designed to be centrally located in a room, chances are it’ll need to be connected to a power outlet (given its obvious functions), resulting in a wire running from the table all the way to the nearest switchboard.

Personally, the Aero isn’t the kind of furniture I’d have in my own home, although I get the appeal of deviating from the boring, ugly, air purifier template. Earlier last year, IKEA unveiled the STAKRVIND, an air purifying side-table with a more domestic-driven aesthetic, and in 2020, Sauberair unveiled a 3.5″ inch thick air purifier that disguised itself as wall-mounted art!

Pure Bubble concept will help bring better air quality outdoors

Air pollution has been a persistent problem in most urbanized areas. It’s something that we don’t really notice or don’t realize the effects on us unless there’s a haze problem. But we all know it’s there, having significant effects on our health and becoming a major contributor to global warming and climate change. Emissions of sulfur dioxide, ozone (O3), carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide, particulates, and others are the main offenders. We need more products or at least concepts that can help reduce the effects of this on our health and in the world in general.

Designer: Wang Hong Min

The idea behind this concept called Pure Bubble is to help improve the quality of outdoor air that we breathe in every day. It’s basically like an air purifier but this time it’s for outdoors. It’s an air filtering system that is made up of multiple balls or bubbles that are able to not just detect and analyze air quality but “clean” the pollution source as well. The bubble design is inspired by the dandelion (or as my friend says, what Flik rode in A Bug’s Life) so it looks soft, light, and airy.

Each bubble has three layers that will help in improving the outdoor air quality where it will be floating around. The first layer has helium to make it lighter and has hundreds of holes on its surface so air can go in and out. The second layer meanwhile has a filtering function with a TPA patented technology and it can be re-used and rewashed. The final layer is its recharging motor, powered by wind power when docked.

How it works is that it sucks in the polluted air and filters it in the central layer. It will then blow out once the air is cleaned and so you get the effect of bubbles flying in various directions. Each bubble actually has a sensor and is also self-illuminating. The mineral elements can be extracted once the pollutants have been removed. It is also designed to help clean water systems, for example collecting rainwater and turning it into something reusable.

These bubbles and the stand can be put up anywhere that has a port and that needs to have better air quality. Hopefully, this award-winning concept eventually becomes a reality as we need all the help we can get.

Air purifying tiles hanging on the walls make sure you’re breathing healthy, indoor air

When we spend a lot of time indoors and keep the windows closed for air conditioning, we feel cool and comfortable. However, that means we also need air purifying devices to make sure that we’re breathing in healthy air inside our homes. There are several kinds of air-purifying devices out there but they seem to be pretty distinctive and will most likely not blend in with your furniture. This new concept will solve that problem by designing something that looks like part of your decoration.

Designer: Studio Volpi

The Missaglia tiles are square-shaped tiles with rounded corners which you can attach to your walls. More than just tiles to match your aesthetic, they’re actually air purifying devices that can capture pollutants, bacteria, and viruses that are floating around your house. But the advantage as compared to the traditional air purifiers is that it won’t take up any space in your room as you only have to attach it to the wall or any surface you want to place it in.

The tiles have hexagonal-shaped fabric that seems to look like flypaper but for polluting agents instead of insects. The material is called The Breath and basically, it is also able to absorb and eliminate odors from both food as well as cleaning agents. It can act on materials like formaldehyde, allergens, bacteria, and viruses. They did their scientific research so that the concept is not just a design solution but something that may actually work.

Design-wise, this is something that I wouldn’t mind adorning my walls, especially if the air-purifying function actually works. I’ve been looking for something for my place since I have to spend most of my time indoors but the ones in the market are either too large or too expensive. So it would be great to have an alternative like this that can not just make sure I’m breathing in healthy, or at least healthier air.

ROOT Humidifier doubles as a dehumidifier and air purifier

ROOT Humidity Conditioner Release

Humidity conditioners are essential, but there aren’t really many devices with such function. A concept product design was introduced a few years ago by VLND, an Industrial Design Studio based in South Korea. The product design was even recognized at the International Design Excellence Awards, receiving a Bronze prize in the United States.

Called ROOT, this Humidity Conditioner for CAIRS is ideal for places that have dry winters and humid summers. A humidifier must be available to keep the humidity at an ideal level, especially indoors. Having such a device can prevent dry skin during winter and the uncomfortable and sweaty feeling during summer.

Designer: VLND Studio

Concept ROOT Humidity Conditioner

ROOT Humidity Conditioner for Cairs

ROOT does the job of keeping the optimum level of humidity. It also works as an air cleaner and purifier, which we really need, especially these days. An air purifier dehumidifier is a home appliance that many people can benefit from. It sucks in air from the bottom and then releases the purified air from the top.

The design is based on a traditional Korean brazier. The ROOT is a modern iteration, but instead of providing heat, it helps main the correct humidity level. Its purpose is the same as it helps create a comfortable surrounding for the people.

ROOT Humidity Conditioner Concept Design

ROOT is both a humidifier and a dehumidifier, detecting the humidity level and functions depending on what needs to be done. If the humidity is high, it starts to dehumidify. When humidity is low, it then begins to humidify. It comes with a water tank that may be filled depending on the humidity. You need to empty out the water when it’s filled with too much moisture in the air.

ROOT Humidity Conditioner Details

When the air is dry, you then need to fill the water tank for it to function and do the opposite of humidifying the surrounding. The top of the ROOT features some fine holes. There are lights that indicate the status of the device. Depending on the air quality, the brightness will be adjusted. When the lights blink, you may want to check the water tank to see if it is full or empty.

ROOT Humidity Conditioner Concept

The ROOT is designed to be placed in the center of a space instead of just being placed near the wall. It will perform better if it’s in the middle of the room. The design of this device is something like a furniture item. It doesn’t look dull, but it’s also not overwhelming. It is one interesting piece that can complement the home interior with its industrial minimalist style. The wood texture gives that natural look and feel while the chrome legs offer a bit of a luxurious feel.
