Fan-Made Castlevania Board Game Created By Redditor

Castlevania Board Game by XsimonbelmontX image 1

Vampire hunters a like will love this fan-made board game devoted to the popular monster-slaying video game series from Konami.

As a Castlevania die-hard, I would probably do anything to play this fan-made, board game version of the classic Konami action-platformer. Redditor XsimonbelmontX has done his best in recreating the monster-fest into a working table-top game that features the recognizable hallmarks from every Castlevania entry.

From the start, you and your compadres can choose from up to 11 heroes/heroines from the Castlevania universe, from legendary vampire-hunter Simon Belmont to son-of-Dracula Alucard, as you make your way through Count Dracula’s famous mansion.

Along the way players must all work together, leveling up their character by defeating monsters or gather up distinct power-ups, collecting the five body parts of Dracula scattered throughout the castle (much like in Castlevania 2: Simon’s Quest), and then finally summoning the lord of darkness to then defeat him and thus win the game.

Of course the game itself is only one of the main draws, because the amount of Castlevania love in every facet of this board game is something else.

The board itself is basically the level layout of the original NES game, 8-bit pixely and all; the play cards have art and descriptions from every Castlevania title up to date. And XsimonbelmontX even created snazzy suitcase to store the game up once your done! In fact, it looks like a suitcase right out of a Hammer Flim’s production of a Dracula movie.

You can find more pictures of this Castlevania board game from XsimonbelmontX’s own imgur account. It’s a shame only he and his friends will able to whip their way through Dracula’s castle in this inspiring creation. I’m sure as the night is a horrible time to have a curse that many Castlvania fans, retro gaming enthusiasts, and even board game collectors would love to own such a terrific board.

Fan-made Castlevania Board Game: Whips & Daggers

Last year Redditor Brandon aka XsimonbelmontX made a Fallout-themed Monopoly set as a birthday gift for his wife. He was so touched by the reception that he got online that he was motivated to make another board game. This time he went all out and made an original game, an old school Castlevania adventure RPG.

Brandon’s game features 11 characters from the series, each with their own weapons and abilities. In the game, players have been cursed and will die unless they gather the five parts of Dracula’s body from all over the mansion, put him back together and kill him once again (and again, if needed, as there’s a chance that he’ll resurrect). That’s if the monsters in the mansion don’t kill them first.

Here’s a look at the game’s pieces:

There are so many things to love about Brandon’s game, from the diversity of both the characters and the enemies to the tension induced by the time-based curse and of course the random boss mechanic. Head to Brandon’s Imgur album and Reddit post for more on his game.

Custom Castlevania SNES: Customvania

Wow. Someone really loves the Castlevania games. That someone is artist Vadu Amka, who gave his old PAL SNES console a super stunning and creepy casemod makeover. Seriously, I feel like if you played this console, the dead would rise.

This is not some simple repaint, but a structural work of art. It has a huge whip, a skull, a coffin, and other emblems from the classic series. This is how you make a proper casemod people! I have never been so scared of a game console in my entire life.

Flea Market Art Turned into Video Game Tapestry: Remastered Edition

French artist Gauvain Manhattan bought six old paintings from flea markets and then painstakingly wove replicas of each painting. He didn’t replicate them perfectly though. Instead he turned the real world subjects into virtual ones by adding characters and other elements from video games.

That piece with a large explosion becomes a lot funnier when you see what the painting originally looked like. Gauvain said he plans to do more of these if he finds more paintings. Check out his website for high resolution shots of the tapestries. While you’re there you might as well gawk at his irreverent Assassin’s Creed figurine.
