What could I do to make my bedroom my cat’s favorite place? The Gatrimonial bed frame, made by a company called CatLife, made this dream a reality. They make furniture that doubles as an adventurous cat’s dream. At first glance, the bed frame looks like a hollow base with circular entrances in each corner. It has plenty of space for your cat to stretch its limbs underneath your bed. When you lift the mattress, it reveals an elaborate maze to keep your feline entertained. The frame also has two sections with a splattering of tiny paw-sized holes that could either be peep-holes or a little trap for unsuspecting paw swipes. Your ankles will not appreciate it, but your cat will love the hunt.

Sio is a cat tower carved from natural wood with integrated perch swings and cushioned hideouts for cats to climb and rest until they’re ready for a catnap. The Sio cat tree keeps the same shape as a twin step ladder, providing a semi-enclosed bottom resting area and carpeted steps with connecting slings where cats can relax and keep a close eye on their humans. Constructed from natural wood, the Sio cat tree is discreet enough to fit into most modern living rooms and blend in with the rest of the furniture.

This table designed by Dinos for cat owners is handcrafted by local craftspeople from natural red oak wood to age well over time and remain a place where your cat can perch. The table’s rounded corners are also specially sanded down to ensure safe climbing and jumping for your cat. When you’d like your cats to join you while you work, the table features a center cavity through which they can poke their heads and see what you’re up to. In the center of the table, the craftspeople at Dinos carved a 16cm hole just above a circular shelf where your cat can rest. When your cat isn’t resting on the shelf, it can be used to store items like magazines or even cat toys.

Created from premium quality maple wood, and textured sisal fabric, the collection was inspired by architectural columns, wooden dowels, soft edges, and simple geometric shapes. And it really shows through in the furniture pieces! The collection consists of five interesting pieces. You have a beautiful light maple wood chair, that functions as a pet-human chair! This basically means your cat and you can lounge about on the same chair, spending quality time without invading each other’s privacy. The lower section functions as a safe space for your cat to rest in! The collection also includes a litter box with an arched roof. The upper section consists of columns that provide your cat privacy as he/she carries out their business, and also allows the litter box to integrate with your living space, without actually looking like one! Rise also consists of two cat beds. One is pretty compact and small in size and occupies minimum space. The other one is larger in size and is designed to fit into any corner of your home. It also includes a scratching post. The final design in the collection is a cat climber that also doubles up as a scratching post! The climber keeps your pet engaged, active, and productive!

Featuring concealed storage areas and tucked-away hideouts, Neko Goten was designed on the basis of understanding the behavior of cats with acute attention to what makes them really purr. On the left side, Neko Goten’s staircase brings cats to alternating jumping perches where cats can leapfrog before heading up to the tower’s plastic hemisphere that hovers above the entire play area. Below the staircase, a hideout offers a covert place for cats to rest without bother. Then, the center section of Neko Goten features a hive-like resting area that’s stationed atop a hollowed-out carpeted ring reminiscent of a hamster wheel, where cats can either rest, scratch, or knead until a cat nap’s in order.

PaiPai Pets’ double basin cat kennel is a cat tower and console storage cabinet in one. Looking at the kennel head-on, two wide doors border a narrower middle door, which opens up to the kennel’s storage unit and jungle-gym interior. On the left and right sides of the kennel, there’s enough space to fit two large litter boxes, which are always accessible through the middle door’s open porthole. Behind the kennel’s center cabinet, storage shelves can be found where cat owners can stow away smaller items like cans of wet cat food and litter scoopers. Painted in bright white, with natural wood accents along the perimeter, the kennel can remain discreet even in busier home spaces like the living room or den. Along the sides of the kennel, smaller portholes allow for plenty of airflows as well as a fun way for you to play whack-a-mole with your cat.

The Wool Felt Castle Bed is what cat dreams are made of! Created from wool felt, fleece, and plenty of cushions, the cat bed is as comfortable as a bed can get. Large enough for pets of all sizes, the little bed provides the perfect private little spot for your kitty, since they always crave their fair share of personal space and isolation.

This wooden cat tower will keep your cat entertained for hours and blends right into modern living rooms!

Sio is a cat tower carved from natural wood with integrated perch swings and cushioned hideouts for cats to climb and rest until they’re ready for a catnap.

Cat furniture has come a long way since the ‘70s. From the cat trees wrapped in shag carpeting to the midcentury-inspired climbing trees of today, designers have created cat furniture to meet the needs and aesthetics of the times. Today, the shag has been swapped out for more refined, wooden cat trees with integrated scratching posts and resting hideouts like the Sio cat tree designed by Sebastian Medrano Casas.

The base of the Sio cat tree is wide enough to support the rest of the tower and resting spots, but small enough to fit snugly into a living room corner space. In the semi-enclosed base of the Sio tree, cats can rest in the pillowed sleeping area for a cozy escape from the house. When cats rest in the tree’s base area, humans will hardly notice they’re there, making it the ideal, cozy nook for cats to hide out.

Just above the base, cats can come out from hiding and lie on the base’s cushioned roof, bordered by roped beams for good scratching bits between cat naps. Comprising two levels of the tower, carpeted slings connect the topmost steps on both sides of the tree where cats can let their paws and tails dangle. Then, the top of the cat tower provides a final lookout perch that’s overlaid with ribbed carpeting for a comfortable resting spot that could double as a scratching post for cats.

The Sio cat tower is one interpretation of the modern cat tree, one that switches outdated design elements like shag rug coats and frayed scratching walls for a more sophisticated tower constructed from natural wood, faux fur cushions, and long-lasting roped scratching beams. Small enough to tuck away into a living room corner, but big enough for your cat to get a good climb in every time, the Sio cat tower is made for the cat in each of us.

Designer: Sebastian Medrano Casas

The cat tree’s base is wide enough to support the rest of the tower but small enough to fit snugly in any corner space.

Carved from natural wood, the Sio cat tree has a durable frame and sculpted design.

Fuzzy wool perches create the ideal resting spots for cats.

Roped scratching beams let your cats get a good scratch in between cat naps.

The top sling comes with a heightened headroom for your cat to stretch out.

This cat-centered table design features a cavity and hidden shelf for your pets to perch while you WFH!

Japanese furniture company Dinos designed a table with a center cavity and hidden perching shelf so your cat can poke its head through and spend the workday with you without climbing all over your keyboard.

If there’s one thing cats don’t do, it’s minding their business. Always lurking around the corner to find out which room we’re walking into or hopping onto the table while we’re eating dinner, cats are curious over just about everything–getting them off our tails can sometimes feel like a game of whack-a-mole. Dinos, a Japanese furniture company, took to the game of whack-a-mole and designed a table with a center opening for our cats to poke their heads through and sate their curiosity without dusting their fur all over our meals.

The table designed by Dinos for cat owners is handcrafted by local craftspeople from natural red oak wood to age well over time and remain a place where your cat can perch. The table also comes with a matching lid for the center hole so when you’d like to enjoy your meal away from your cat, you can close the hole and revert the table back to one with a solid surface.

Additionally, Dinos sells accompanying table benches, chairs, and cushions separately for those who would like to have a complete dining set. In addition to all of the benches and chairs, Dinos sells a cat tree that will be sure to entertain your cat while you work or eat at the table.

Designer: Dinos

The cat table from Dinos features a center cavity where your cat can poke its head and watch while you eat or work.

The center cavity can be closed when you need some time away from your cat to eat or get work done.

Coming in an array of different wood stains, the cat table from Dinos can fit into most dining rooms or living spaces.

Each table is handcrafted by craftspeople in Japan to ensure safe climbing for your cats.

Available even in darker wood stains, Dinos combines feline playfulness with an elegant look.

This multifunctional cat chair design doubles as a coffee table and keeps your cat off the couch!

The Cat Chair from Myzoo was designed for the modern home so that your cat can enjoy their own play and rest areas without compromising the interior design of your living room or den.

If you’ve ever had a cat, by now you know that your furniture is their furniture. Whether you like it or not, Tu casa es su casa. Providing your cat with its own climbing tower or scratcher usually makes the difference between a clean couch and one covered in fur. Myzoo, a Taiwanese cat furniture brand, revealed their own Cat Chair design that merges practicality with feline comfort to keep the couch fur-free.

The Cat Chair is a hexagonal piece of furniture where your cat can rest and also explore. Made from pinewood and a high-density sponge, the Cat Chair features a small lower compartment with cubby holes on each side of the stool for cats to slink in and out of as they choose. The lower compartment allows room for the cat to hide away and relax in isolation, while the stool’s sponge cushion provides an open space for the cat to lounge or even sunbathe. Cats can weave in and out of the Cat Chair cubby holes or rest atop its sponge cushion. When owners want to join their cats on the floors, the sponge cushion can be removed to become a floor pad.

When positioned together, the hexagonal stools can create labyrinths for cats to explore.

The Cat Chair was designed for the modern home, so the pinewood’s light gradient and the sponge cushion’s powdery fabric can fit into most living spaces, especially the ones with ample natural sunlight. The sponge cushion can even be removed so when you want to join your cat on the floor, you’ll have your own cushioned seat too. The Cat Chair is multifunctional as well, allowing cat owners to use the stool as small coffee tables when not in use. Available with either an optic white or jet black base, the Cat Chair blends into any corner or center space for your cat to lounge and play.

I truly believe that this is a cat world, and we’re just living in it! If you happen to own a cat or two (just like me), then I know you wholeheartedly agree. I’m always trying to create a comfortable and interactive living space for them – from playful toys to pet-friendly furniture, I’m ready to invest them in all. One such worthy investment is ‘Rise’. Designed by Sulakshana S, Rise is a collection of luxury furniture designs…for cats! Yes, there is luxury furniture for our little cats as well now.

Meet the Tesla Model-L, a cat tower with an in-built litter box and green moss for your pet to lounge in futuristic style!

Cat owners know how much their fur babies love towers. These big, sometimes not-so-tall structures benefit cats in several ways. First, they function as a play area and are ideal for scratching, climbing, and lounging. Second, since these appeal to a cat’s instincts, cat towers have gone through years of transformation now to reach a point where designers believe it’s a market big enough for Tesla to explore.

Before Elon Musk takes heed, designers Hyeonji Roh and Yeonhong Kim have conjured up the Model L – a cat tower named after the letter ‘L’ and is inspired by the cat’s tail. Drawing inspiration from the Tesla logo, which designers believe resembles a cat’s nose, this rather unusual cat tower has more to it than a traditional scratching post, perching slot, and a route to it. The Model L is pretty unique in the choice of material and finish. The glossy idea is rare for a product that usually utilizes wood and fabric. Nonetheless, it doesn’t let down on modernism. This tower with Tesla symbolism may not have the customary scratcher, but it gives your cat a high position to perch in when resting.

The design utilizes the entire top to bottom here. The top is where your pet will lounge. When nature calls, the middle section is designed for the pet to do their business, and the section at the bottom is terraformed to grow mosses, viewable through a transparent area in the middle. These mosses form a fascinating bright green carpet to replicate a natural environment for the cats. Given Elon Musk’s design of a flamethrower, I would say a rocket-inspired litter box is an idea that is entirely within the box! But it’s always fun to see the brand’s design approach inspiring designers to create unique products!

This modern apartment has a suspended glass cabin which is goals for cat lovers and their pets!

Cats and humans have different needs and both love personal space – so can these two spaces coexist without compromise? InDot Design created a whole modern apartment that revolves around a glass ‘cat cabin’ which is seamlessly integrated into modern interior aesthetics. No more eye-sore cat trees that don’t fit in with your style! The team broke the previous form of partition walls and placed glass boxes in the space to form a spatial field. You can watch your cats while they watch you and both can still have defined boundaries. The cat cabin is like a floating glass box with a circular iron tube as the main support which also serves as a playful element for your pets.

The CMF of glass, wood, and black accents has been maintained with the cat cabin as well as the house so it all looks like one homogenous, open space. The aesthetics are warm, linear, and clean. “On the plane configuration, the living room and study are open, the yellow block at the rear is the cat house, and the red wall is the workspace of the hostess. Use a couch combined with the cat house; we put a glass suspended space in the space so that the layers overlap. The space also has a different sense of penetration,” explains the team.

The suspended cat cabin is measured in size and a viewing platform is deliberately opened in the window to face the views while the ceiling and side of the box are designed with solid wood grilles which are both light and breathable. It extends from the entrance porch cabinet to the living room cabinet. The open behind the sofa is the study room. The seam on the side of the desk is a space where you can move around. Open the wall of the study room and the guest room to form a back-shaped moving line. It is a field of light and shadow, and it has also become a fuzzy zone of the game of life. This apartment is interior design goal for cat parents, but it is the ultimate cool home for cats

These wall-mountable, sustainable cat furniture are designed with replaced materials to last you a lifetime!

The lifecycle of most cat toys isn’t very long. When a cat gets a new stuffed mouse or scratching post, it only takes a couple of days before the scratching post is frayed beyond use and the mouse is missing a limb or two. Despite their short shelf time, cat toys and furniture pieces are chewed on and bitten at by cats like their first meal of the day. Extending the life cycle of cat accessories, feline furniture design brand Catipilla designed a collection of wall-mounted, sustainable furniture for cats with replaceable components that are built from premium materials to blend in with the rest of your furniture.

Catipilla’s furniture collection features pieces like scratching posts, hammocks, and cat climbers, each of which can be mounted onto interior walls. Catipilla designs furniture with quality material to ensure a longer life cycle. Constructed from materials like anodized aluminum and waterproof carpet, each component of their collection is replaceable, adding a degree of durability and insurance to the furniture’s long life cycle. The line of scratchers offers two options: a climber and a scratching post. Differing only in length, the scratching post is shorter in length for cats’ front paws to reach their top. The climber is slightly longer than the post, bringing cats from the floor to wall-mounted resting points.

Comprising hammocks, circus-themed tents, and high plates, Catipilla’s resting points can each be mounted onto interior walls as well, offering cats a hard-to-reach place of respite, far away from the reach of humans. While the hammock and high plates are both fully exposed, the circus-inspired big tent features a semi-enclosed interior space for stealthy cats to keep watch over their territory. The line of cat climbers varies in steps and heights to adapt to your cat’s mobility limits. As cats grow older, their limbs become less agile, requiring a downsize in play furniture. That’s why Catipilla offers every variation from single climbing plates to four-tiered climbing pieces.

Designer: Catipilla

Made from vulcanized fabric, the hammock from Catipilla is tough enough to hold heavier cats and soft enough for them to want to stay.

The circus-themed tent is constructed from faux leather panels and enhanced ABS fixings for a sophisticated, whimsical look that lasts.

Single tread plates offer a safe place of respite for your cats after playtime.

Cat climbers are made from powder-coated aluminum pillars, enhanced ABS treadplate body, and waterproof carpeting.

Reinforced with anodized aluminum, this unbleached South American sisal rope post and climber is entirely safe for your cat to paw at and chew.

Soft, waterproof carpeting line the cat climbers and can be replaced following heavy use.

Furniture meets cat lovers for designs that perfect your work-life-pet balance!

How many cats do you have at home? Since you are already here, I assume you are either a cat-slave or a cat entertainer. My cat is a middle-aged boy who truly believes he is great at trekking around all the furniture in the house. From day one, when he scooted about the house as a kitten intent on scratching and peeling away every bit of fabric from my sofa to my curtain, to the current day – when every new bag of plastic or a chair gets scrutinized by the sniffy nose and scratchy paws, my cat owns my furniture before me. So when I saw the furniture you will read about in the below article, I knew how much he would like it. It is like having a Japanese cat-cafe at my home office (I knew this day would come one day). So now keep your paws on your mouse and scroll below!

My needy, pet-loving self has tried to create a comfortable resting space for this cat. I’ve left nests of beach towels on my floor, hoping he’ll curl up on top of them. Sometimes I wonder, What could I do to make my bedroom his favorite place?

In all the desk designs I’ve seen over the years, this is a first for me! It’s called ‘Ascend,’ and it’s been created by Dan Devine for all the cat ladies and fellas out there. Like any cat person will tell you, the moment you give attention to anything but your furry friend, they’ll find a way to lounge on your keyboard or knock over your utensils until it’s back on them! So designed with this in mind, the wood desk has been crafted with multiple ramps and landings for cats to perch up and play. So if you can’t fight ’em, invite ’em!

The Cat Flat has been carefully designed based on the advice of Sweden’s first cat psychologist, Susanne Hellman Holmström, who brought to light the 10 necessities apart from essentials that cats need for the best emotional and physical health. The needs range from scratching, cleaning fur, playing, discovering, being social, etc., and Cat Flat takes care of them all, keeping in mind they spend most of their time indoors. So think of it as a hybrid of a home and a jungle gym for your cat.

Pulpet initially consists of eco-friendly paper cutouts, which are ultimately handcrafted and put together to assemble a cat house in the shape of a geometric, sitting cat. Users can easily assemble Pulpet without any additional building components. Prepared with all the necessary contents for assembly, Pulpet is easily constructed by adhering the geometric faces together to form the shape of a cat. If, like me, the shape of a cat doesn’t readily come to your creative eye, an assembly manual comes included with the paper house cutouts.

Cat Person provides ‘whole cat care,’ as they call it, which means they’ve considered everything, even giving the shipping containers a second purpose. The team at Cat Person knows that your cat will inevitably find its way to a cardboard box in the recycling corner, so they’ve made their shipping containers convertible into feline-friendly toys. Cat Person looked to industrial design to make further use of cardboard boxes and found transformation possible in corrugated cardboard and seams. Chris Granneberg, a California-based industrial designer, SLATE, a San Francisco-based strategic design studio, and Paul Davis, a UK-based illustrator, were all called on by Cat Person to seamlessly turn their cardboard shipping boxes into playhouses fit for felines.

The Circle Zero from PLUTO is a smart litter box that takes care of your cat’s business. Designed to be fully automated, fully enclosed, and exceptionally silent, the litter box comes with a completely enclosed design to provide a private experience. Sensors on the box detect the cat’s presence and wait for a full 7 minutes after they’re done to automatically (and silently) scoop the waste from the litter and store it separately while completely containing and eliminating any odor. Once the waste compartment is full, you can use any bag or liner to collect it and throw it away.

Industrial designer Jong Hoon Yoon from Seoul, Korea, pondered the unique idea of thinking from a pet’s perspective and designing an intuitive TV stand. Christened “With,” the space-saving TV unit doubles as a cozy spot for your cat to never let go of. All this while being considerate of the kind human too. Yes, With considers the positioning of the cat and the fellow human, they both are in their comfort zone and don’t bother each other. For us, the TV is a mere entertainment source and lousy around on our couch binge-watching streaming content. But, on the other hand, the heat produced from the TV and the accompanying electronics is an opportunity for your pet to curl up and enjoy in their own space.

People in small living spaces use low furniture (such as rugs, floor chairs) to build intimate, relaxing areas, while cats prefer covert spaces, but there are not many places to hide or play due to the limited space. CatYou in a Circle by Jack Dogson (ironic, huh!)didn’t want to separate the pets from their owners, so it is designed to bring them together while also maintaining boundaries cleverly. The hollow armrests and backrest offer cats a playground and hiding territory, while the coffee table provides a place to sleep. The woven bamboo texture makes it possible for owners to see their cats even when they hide and play through its holes. The size of holes is different in different parts of the furniture to adapt to the pet’s needs and humans. For example, the backrest holes are smaller to make the cats feel more secure. But holes above are bigger so that when people lean on the sofa, they can see through the backrest and find their cats underneath.

Sharing space has become more challenging post-pandemic as our work and non-work lives have merged into one home, but we have also started spending a lot more time with our pets, who may be thinking, “why is this human taking over my favorite chair?” So Space International created catHAUS that encourages harmony between you and your cat when you are in the same space! The angular furniture piece was envisioned to be a domestic retreat for an undomesticated species. However, it incorporates your needs and your pet’s needs too – two different functions but in the same piece of furniture. For you, catHAUS is a seating option, and for your cat, it is a landscape of different textures. Playing off of the iconographic conventions of the familiar gable roof, catHAUS operates at the scale of both shelter and furniture.

Forget those ugly carpet-covered cat towers! Instead, give your furry friend a place to perch up and keep an eye on things with the Spaceship Gamma Clear Cat Perch by MYZOO. Feline tested and approved, the easy-to-mount design provides an elevated sanctuary for your cat to nap and hang out. A see-through dome provides your pet with panoramic views of your room, while well-placed vents keep the inside fresh. Crafted from a combination of transparent acrylic and wood in light and dark finishes, it’s also designed to accent your interior.

This cat tower doubles as a vanity area with a full-length mirror to make the most out of small spaces!

The truth is, cats turn every piece of our furniture into their own climbing tower or scratching post, lookout perch, or their personal couch‒ whether we like it or not, what’s ours is theirs. Sometimes it even feels like cats like our furniture more than their own and when we live in small spaces with cats, territory lines do not exist. Piupaw, a furniture brand for cats, created a cat tower called Co-Living with an integrated mirror and additional storage to produce a piece of furniture for humans that’s designed to be pawed and scratched at by cats.

Developed specifically for small to medium-sized apartments, Co-Living is a full-body mirror and cat tower combined to become a shared, interactive piece of interior furniture for cats and humans alike. When looking at Co-Living head-on, it appears as just another full-body mirror, but a closer look reveals its multi-functionality. With an arched top and bottom, the mirror stands on one wooden peg in front of Co-Living’s rear cat tower. Constructed vertically, Co-Living is designed to encourage cats’ natural climbing tendencies by incorporating multiple carpeted tiers from which they can hop on and off until reaching the top. Co-Living’s wide, circular base, allows enough room for both the cat tower and full-body mirror to remain separate so that cats can climb up and down the tower with ease. Reinforced with a 2mm metal pipe, Co-Living’s main pillar remains stable in place and wrapped in sisal, a natural fiber that can be replaced following heavy use.

Cats tend to turn anything and everything into their own plaything or scratching post. Piupaw’s Co-Living ushers in a new form of cat furniture that integrates human needs into its design to ensure friendly cohabitation between cats and their humans. Everything from hidden coat racks and storage shelves to durable fabric to sustain plenty of scratching, Co-Living is mutable and multi-functional by design.

Designer: Piupaw

On one hand, Co-Living functions as a cat’s climbing tower, and on the other, it works as a vanity area for small bedrooms.

Co-Living was specially designed for smaller living spaces.

Tapping into every cats’ playful and curious tendencies, Co-Living incorporates every play thing you can think of to keep cats entertained.

Integrated storage areas and coat racks turn this cat tower into a multi-functional furniture piece.
