Star Wars Macarons: That’s No Moon, It’s a Delicious French Pastry!

These Star Wars-themed macarons by Semi Sweet Designs look totally delicious! Om nom nom nom. Apparently, macarons are hard to make, but I know that when you bake these cookie sandwiches correctly, they taste heavenly. Things get even better when it is decorated in a Star Wars theme. Everything is better with Star Wars.

Semi Sweet Designs studied some videos to make sure they had the technique and then got to work making three different macarons featuring a chocolate Chewbacca, and almond and vanilla R2-D2, and the lemon and vanilla Death Star. They came out looking perfect.

They look great. If they taste half as good as they look, those are some delicious treats.

Gingerbread Wookiee: So That’s Why They Call Him Chewy

We’ve seen lots of geeky gingerbread treats, but none so tough as this gingerbread Wookiee. Let them win at games or they will rip your arm out of its socket. Eat a gingerbread Wookiee and they will likely punch you in the gut from the inside.

This tasty gingerbread version of Chewbacca comes from Craftster member kala who does a great job making fine wookie hair and makes a mean bandoleer. It may not be as impressive as a Death Star gingerbread treat, but this guy is pretty darn cute and probably just as tasty.

This is why they call him Chewie, people! I like the eyes, but don’t want him to look at me when I bite into him.

Alien Chestburster Macarons: Get in Me Belly (or Maybe Not)

One of the most memorable scenes in the history of science fiction has to be the John Hurt chestburster scene in the original Alien. It’s just the right blend of tension, suspense, and gross-out effects to be ranked up there at the top of list.

And while the crew of the Nostromo didn’t intentionally gestate aliens in their bellies, you now have the option to, thanks to these chestburster French macarons.

These delightfully nasty looking treats were made by Lou Lou P’s Delights, and while they look completely gross, they probably taste pretty awesome. That’s how the aliens lure you in to carrying their offspring, you see. While they look quite bloody, I bet that’s raspberry. Yum.

In addition to the chestburster, Lou Lou made some aliens in other states of their development, including facehugger and fully grown. Delightful.

Insert Coin: GPS Cookie leaves a trail of breadcrumbs wherever you go (video)

In Insert Coin, we look at an exciting new tech project that requires funding before it can hit production. If you'd like to pitch a project, please send us a tip with "Insert Coin" as the subject line.

Insert Coin GPS Cookie leaves a trail of breadcrumbs wherever you go video

Richard Haberkern's pretty much got this Kickstarter thing nailed down. The Soundlazer and Lumapad creator has now turned his attention to Arduino-based location logging, and needs your cash to produce the GPS Cookie. Slam in a microSD card and some batteries, and the unit will track the time, route, speed and altitude of all of your journeys. Coming in cookie and sandwich-shaped versions, the unit's available to backers for $79, while solder-happy modders can snag the unassembled version for $25. Unfortunately, the early-backer editions have already been snaffled. Curious to learn more? The video's after the break.

Fried Chicken Cookies: What’s the Matter Colonel Sanders?

I love those finger-lickin’-good chicken drumsticks, but as a cookie flavor? I don’t think so.

Thankfully these fried chicken cookies whipped up by Bridget over at Bake at 350 taste nothing like the real thing, although they look so much like it!

The chicken drumsticks are probably the easiest part to form and bake. You can also easily recognize them at a glance, compared to, say, chicken breasts or thighs.

Bridget included a guide on cookie cutter templates so you can still bake some fried chicken leg cookies of your own, even if you don’t have the appropriately-shaped cookie cutters.

Perhaps the biggest thing you might be wondering is.. What makes the chicken leg cookies look so darn crunchy? The secret, my friend, is cornflakes.

You can check out the recipe here.
