Glow Lamp Isn’t a Jet Pack, But It Does Hover

Growing up, I was convinced that by the time i was “old” I wouldn’t have to walk anywhere. My jetpack would fly me wherever I wanted to go. I was also convinced that we would be living on the Moon and while my jetpack and lunar house have yet to happen, at least we are starting to get things that levitate. This cool floating lamp is called “Glow.”

As the crystalline light levitates it rotates too. The crystal form is some kind of synthetic material, but it still looks cool. The lamp offers two modes: a task light with 400 lumens, or a softly glowing mood light. Power comes from lithium batteries and a on a full charge the light lasts 80 hours. The crystal can also be used as a portable light away from the levitating base.

The crowdfunding for the Glow lamp hasn’t kicked off yet, but I want one of these for my desk pretty badly. The project will launch on November 7 and there is no word on how much it will cost right now.

It rather reminds me of the scene in Harry Potter where they go in for the feast and all the candles are floating around.

A Crystal Table Unlike Any Other

crystal series_table

I’m all for shiny, transparent furniture and fell in love immediately when looking at this new series by designer Sae-rom Yoon. Each piece in the Crystal Series is made from dyed acrylic resin. Sae-rom Yoon wanted to keep the pieces looking as natural and as close to the look of crystal as possible, therefore each piece was dyed at the surface, while maintaining a natural feel.

During the process of gluing the pieces together, the dyed surfaces stick together after being melted creating a natural blending of colors. This in turn makes the dyed pieces mesh together naturally creating the illusion of distortions through refraction and reflection as well as forming different gradients, all while keeping the crystal-like transparency with its natural color. Each modern, Crystal Series Table measures 400 x 400 x 420 mm and come in a pink with purple tones design, as well as a pink with light blue and purple tones design. Absolutely stunning, and I’ll take one of each.

These awesome Poke Balls come from Etsy shop PokeMasterCrafter. They’re made from a high-grade k9 crystal carved into a baseball sized ball and with fine point 3D laser engraving. That means they burn the image straight into the crystal.

Right now they have three Pokémon in their shop to choose from. Mewtwo, Alakazam and Scyther. Make that two. Make that none. Maybe they will offer more soon, and you can catch them all and have quite the light show in your home.
