This Dresser is Hiding Something

Like his Black Scars Cabinet, designer Alon Dodo’s Secret Dresser is a thought-provoking piece with a bit of mystery and dark playfulness. What appears to be a straightforward (albeit beautiful) mixed wood dresser holds a secret within the surface of its top. Hmmm.. .can you tell what it is?! Hit the jump to find out —>

R2-D2 Dresser: Hide the Death Star Plans Next to Your Underwear

Imgur user zombiecontroller created this cool astromech droid out of a beat up old dresser. Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi. You’re my only hope… for getting dressed in the morning.

They did an excellent job painting all of the droid details too. Apparently it was made for their son Conan. And that makes these parents pretty awesome in my book. Now they just need a matching C-3PO dresser so the pair can complain to each other all day. Or maybe a Jawa on each side, picking this thing up.

Furniture looks much better when it gets a Star Wars makeover. Conan is a lucky kid.

Move Over Ikea!

This ultra-utilitarian system of paper and tape furniture, called TapeFlips, brings a whole new meaning to affordable DIY furnishing! The design’s rigid pre-sized paper panels can be reconfigured and combined to make a variety of functional pieces including chairs, tables, shelving and storage. After putting together, users can also customize their pieces with paint or markers for a truly one-of-a-kind aesthetic, something you wouldn’t think of with higher priced furnishings.

Star Trek Dresser Boldly Holds Your Clothing

Clothes. The Final Frontier. These are the voyages of your undies. This is an awesome Star Trek inspired paint job that a friend of Demostheness did on a dresser. It looks pretty awesome.

I can only assume that a whole crew shares it, because it is organized by uniform color. Must be a small crew compliment on that ship.

They used the font from The Next Generation, but the colors and the insignia are from the original series. So it represents the best of Trek. Since the top drawer doesn’t have a color, I’m guessing that’s where the undies go. Unless of course they match the uniform.

Beneath the Cambium Layer

This expertly crafted collection of furnishings takes inspiration from the way in which trees grow, celebrating the tree as both a material and living organism. The ever changing seasonal growth patterns and unique knots change the structure of the wood in subtle ways- this is reflected in the nuance details of each unique piece. The use of a coopering technique can be seen throughout the body of work as a construction method that directly mimics natural growth. The result is an aesthetic of craftsmanship and Danish Modern design paired with raw, organic shapes and textures.

Vintage Style Furniture with Pixel Art

pixel furniture Vintage Style Furniture with Pixel Art
Here’s an interesting furniture design that combines old world styling with new world design. Designed by Studio Badini Createam, the Trip Pixel Collection covers up classic French furniture styles with massive pixelated portraits.

It’s an interesting juxtaposition of modern and classic. Of note is that due to the nature of pixel images, they will be seen slightly differently by the eye depending upon how close you stand to them. Up close it will look like color blocked pixels, while standing further back your eye will see the full portrait. Neat furniture design- I don’t know if I’d personally put one of these pieces in my house but I like it nonetheless. (outthereinteriors via freshome)

Here is a Chest of Drawers, Literally.

This chest of drawers takes its name literally and gives you a manly piece of furniture. With a head. And eyes that are checking out his own abs and chest approvingly.

This clever piece of furniture allows you to do a nipple tweak every time you get out a fresh pair of socks or underwear. So that’s a bonus.

This strange piece of design comes from George McCallum. I’m glad there’s no bottom half. Knowing George it would probably be made of chestnut and I do NOT want to see his literal take on that. I don’t mind some nipple pulling, but that’s where I draw the line. And thankfully, he didn’t put any hair on this chest.

Pretty clever furniture pun though. Good work George.

Closets Don’t Lie

The Double Life storage solution was named after our tendency to look well put together when we leave the house, while our closets are left in shambles! The unit contains cubbies of various sizes to keep a wide range of items neat and tidy. Though it looks like a singular piece, each of the eight squares can actually be arranged according to the users taste and needs.
