When you tell a child to draw a wardrobe, he will always make it in the shape of a rectangle. Even as an adult when I go out shopping for room furniture, I can say about 99% of the closets I see are rectangular. Orior made a simple switch to the shape and it’s got everyone thinking “Wow! I never imagined a pill-shaped wardrobe” which just goes to show how conditioned we are to live within the walls (or doors) or what we know. But Orior decided to shatter the notions of regular expectations by adding a unique twist – a mirror on the other end of the wardrobe! Granted, the purpose of this mirror is also utilitarian, but for my eyes, its an almost fantasy-filled world full of possibilities (it may even hold the entrance to Narnia!)
Orior’s design ideology lies in making timeless furniture with creative shapes and vibrant colors. Each wardrobe has been handcrafted with solid ebonized oak into a pill-shaped mold. The black doors are softened with bullnose edges which adds an elegance quotient to the otherwise steely exterior. The Arctic wardrobe as its called rests on solid Giallo Sienna marble legs that elongate the visual of its shape. To add a touch of luxury – literally – the handles are wrapped in Brass leather which opens up to a mirrored chest and clothing rail. The leather details are also seen in the interior drawers and side panels like the jewelry box.
This wardrobe is a balance between classic materials and modern design – it brings the essence of minimal rich furniture with a vintage soul and Irish craftsmanship. It is a statement yet subtle piece of furniture that is sure to become a staple in your home.
The Ali-Ante storage system’s utilitarian interior means that, for a realistic price, you can deck out the exterior doors to be as fancy as you’d like!
Designed for closets, cabinets, general shelving and more, this smart solution makes all types of storage effective and attractive, even in corners. Variations in types and sizes of shelves, drawers and rails also mean each setup can be fine-tuned to the user’s unique requirements.
Showcasing an incredible design gives us joy, but actually having the opportunity to own that design gives everybody joy, doesn’t it!? Let’s say you have a small walk-in closet. There must be something you can do with it besides just store clothes in it. There is, and author Noah JD Chinn is here to show you the way. He took his small closet and turned it into a geeky work area.
He started with a small desk, a typewriter, and some shelves, before adding duel screens, some art, blasters, swords of course and then the best part. He turned the doors into TARDIS doors to complete the effect.
This is a small office that any timelord can work in and feel great. See what you can do with a bit of inspiration and hard work?
It looks like it has everything needed for a geeky and productive work day.
Jackanory is a locker-style wardrobe that aims to build a deeper connection with the user by combining spacial organization with playful interaction. About a year ago, we featured Rob Bye’s Stretchless Hanger, and now he’s back with version 2.0! Like the original, the design aims to speed up the process of hanging clothes without damaging or stretching the material. But after taking your feedback into consideration, the new and improved version is more rigid, structurally sound, and just as easy to use. Which one do you like better?!
Composed of just two materials, the Bancon hanger features soft padded foam that protects fabric and a wooden, river stone-shaped insert that gives the hanger contour. While it’s larger than your average hanger, the wide form keeps clothes in shape, wrinkle-free, and prevents that annoying shoulder-bump from metal and plastic hangers.
If you’ve ever moved into a new place without furniture or anywhere to hang your clothes, you’ll appreciate the Arara Nômade. It’s an all-in-one solution for organizing clothes packed into one compact box. No screws, no glues, no technical know-how… just one intuitive structure that’s easily mounted or unmounted. Perfect for the modern nomad or anyone who needs a quick closet solution!
