Annapurna Interactive hasn’t been around that long and it has already published many memorable games, including Outer Wilds, Donut County, What Remains of Edith Finch and Sayonara Wild Hearts (my favorite game of 2019). To celebrate its first five ye...

This SpaceX-themed limited edition timepiece is a ‘Musk’ have for your watch collection!

After months of quarantine, all I need is space – space at home, open space, and I would also be okay with the NASA kind of space. You get the point and the puns. Siri has seemed to pick up on it as well and I came across this cool space-themed watch by UNDONE. The brand has always shown a penchant for space, in fact, they have a whole range called SpaceXplorer which pays homage to the 2014 SpaceX Dragon V2 spacecraft. The latest SpaceXplorer is a limited-edition timepiece that celebrates achievements that we have made in terms of design, technology, and innovation. Funny, we do the same at Yanko Design every day too!

This special watch pays great attention to detail and you will recognize those little things instantly if you are a space nerd. For instance, it features styling elements from the new SpaceX ultra-modern space suits. Then it takes it up a notch by using the Dragon V2 capsule’s design details – the grey dial ring, white indices, and the unique hands which are modeled off of the capsules white oblong shaped indices and windows. “The minute-hand mimics the path of a gravitational slingshot, and the second-hand is actually a white disc on which a dot rotates to mimic the moon’s movement around the earth. The hour hand continues to nod to the design of the new and improved spacesuit, highlighting the shape and lines of the collar,” says UNDONE. And because space is an infinite black expanse, the watch dial glows in a cool nitrous blue when its dark.

Just like the spacesuits, the watch will be hermetically sealed to withstand up to five atmospheres. The case back’s circular pattern symbolizes the landing pad of the SpaceX autonomous drone ship and what truly stole my heart about this watch was the engraved “Of Course I Still Love You” quote that was Elon Musk’s tribute to the AI that commanded spaceships in a science fiction novel by Iain M. Banks. “We’ve added the launch time, date, and coordinates (Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral) and to make this really special, we also added return date,” says the team. Only 300 pieces of this SpaceXplorer watch will be made and they all pay homage to the two astronauts’ historic journey to the International Space Station and the first-ever successful launch of a crewed orbital spacecraft by a private company. It’s a Musk-have!

A Bentley 6 in 1 limited-edition stroller that grows with your child!

The first thing that came to my mind when I saw this Bentley stroller trike is “Woah! This baby is going to have some serious swag!” and unlike other strollers that have a short life span, this one transforms into a pedal-powered bike so the baby can continue having some serious swag. The Bentley stroller trike is an innovative 6-1 model that was created in collaboration with Posh Baby and Kids.

This limited-edition bike is from the Bentley centennial collection and there are only 570 units. Just like the Continental GT, the bike has twin-spoke rims and cross-stitched seats. It also has eco-leather touchpoints complemented with matte black details and gold stitching. What makes this bike special is that it grows with your child when they outgrow the stroller it turns into a wonderful bike to get some fun exercise with! Keeping in mind how fast babies can grow, the bike can seamlessly accommodate them from eight months to four years, while encouraging balance and safety with a five-point harness, safety guard, non-slip pedals and footrest, and even a parent control handle.

I am just imagining a toddler roll out in slow motion on the streets in one of these bikes and put on the baby sunglasses while pedaling away. What a sight!

The most un-bikely bike ever

bandit9_lconcept_1

Looking at the L-Concept bike by Bandit9, I’m not sure if it downplays the styling bit, or showcases just the appropriate amount of it.

Built as a limited edition of just 9 pieces (with only 2 being available as we speak), the L-Concept tries to bridge the gap between “fact and fiction” with a design that takes inspiration wholeheartedly from the sci-fi genre. The overall silhouette from the side resembles the USS Enterprise from Star Trek, with the 125cc engine being housed in a body that looks a lot like the spaceship’s main reactor.

The L-Concept comes in a chrome finish, dominated by straight lines and flat surfaces that create some beautifully balanced and geometric highlights and reflections. The seat, made of Italian calf leather sits within the main body of the bike in a way that retains the unibody approach, and creates a beautiful bend or punctuation in the reflections that run across the body.

The L-Concept comes with innovatively design head and taillamps comprising an array of LEDs. It even showcases an innovatively designed Flat Dual Shock for the rear wheel, keeping the overall design clean and ‘horizontal’. Designed to challenge how we perceive motorbike aesthetics, the L-Concept may be ahead of its time, but founder and chief designer Daryl Villanueva thinks we’re getting there.
