Gigantic Transformers Trypticon T-Rex Eats Other Transformers for Dinner

Hasbro has unveiled the biggest Decepticon action figure it’s ever made. It’s called the Trypticon T-Rex, and it is downright huge. It measures about 20″ tall in Dino mode and is the largest figure in the 2017 Titans Return universe.

Growing up, I thought the dinosaur Transformers were incredibly lame, all I wanted were cars or jets – but this one is pretty cool.  The massive toy has three modes and can transform between a dino mech, a spaceship, or even a whole city.

This thing is so big that when in T-Rex mode it can eat other Titan Master figures. You can cram them in its throat and then open the stomach to get them back. Trypticon will launch this fall for $149.99(USD).

This Life-size Mech Actually Works

For many years, I thought that the coolest video game ever made was Mechwarrior. I played that game so much it’s not even funny. I’m more than a little angry that no new Mechwarrior game has surfaced in a long time. In South Korea they aren’t working on a new version of the classic game, but they are working on an actual mech.

It’s not a Mad Cat with missile launchers through. Korea Future Technology calls their mech METHOD-1. It actually reminds me very much of the mechs from Avatar that the soldiers ran around in. The team building the robot says that the goal is to see what scenarios it would work in and what bits of the tech in it are more useful than others.

The videos show the mech moving its arms around and stomping around a bit. I think with a rotating torso, missile launchers, jet packs, and a shoulder mounted cannon it could really destroy some stuff.

Power Rangers GX-72 Daizyujin Megazord Figures Assemble Into One Big Robot

I was too old to watch Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers when they hit TV back in the day, but my brother watched it all the time. Power Rangers could assemble into a bunch of combinations from what I understand, with the characters able to turn into a giant robot in some forms. If you’re a fan of the series, check out this cool Daizyujin GX-72 Megazord figure from Bandai Tamashii Nations.

It’s not cheap at $299.99(USD), but it includes all the little Zords that connect together to make one big Megazord robot. They are made out of metal too so when you play with them, they are less likely to break.

You can preorder the GX-72 Megazord soul of Chogokin diecast action figure from Entertainment Earth for shipment in June 2017. These giant robot characters always reminded me of Voltron.

You Can Buy an Actual BMW Transformer

We would all love to own our own full sized Transformers, but sadly, it has never been a reality. Until now. Turkish company Letvision have successfully created a working prototype, and now they plan to sell these transforming vehicles to buyers. I’ll take a Bumblebee!

They are called “Letrons,” and they are real 1-to-1 scale size BMWs. Sadly, you can’t ride in them, but they do actually transform. You can even drive them with a remote control when in car form. The transformation process is a little slow, but it will get better over time. That’s why I’m waiting a few years to buy mine.

In robot form, it can move its arms, hands, and fingers, as well as the head and neck. But that’s not all. It can also generate fog, lighting, and sound effects, as well as connect to Wi-Fi. It’s perfect for messing with attendees at cars and coffee events. Check it out in action in the video clips below:

Megabots Season One Gets First Trailer: Giant Robots, Fight!

The dream of giant robots battling it out for our pleasure is alive my friends. And almost here. The folks behind the MegaBots Kickstarter have released the first trailer for their upcoming web series which will follow the trials of building a 10-ton, 350HP combat robot.

It sounds like the main event will be a battle against Japan’s Kuratas robot for the season finale. That is what we all want to see, but the rest of the series sounds cool too. You can check out the trailer for a taste of what’s to come.

The first episode will drop September 28th on the MegaBots YouTube channel and Facebook page. After that, we’ll get a release every two weeks leading up to the finale. Since the team is still filming, that schedule may shift a bit. If you like giant robots doing battle (and who doesn’t?), this series is for you.

Steel Battalion Immersive Gaming Rig Is the Hardest of Hardcore

I love games where you get to battle it out with giant robot mechs. I grew up on MechWarrior and loved that game. However, I have never been a console gamer, which explains why I have never heard of Steel Battalion. The 2002 Xbox game was a mech fighting game that is perhaps best known for its massive controller rather than the game play.

That controller looks awesome with dual joysticks and lots of toggles you need to flip. David Shuff didn’t think the game was hardcore enough with the giant controller alone, so he built a gigantic custom rig to house the controller and it may be the coolest thing I have ever seen.

The rig is called the B.S.B.B. or Big Steel Battalion Box Mk II. It looks like a giant mech cockpit, complete with flashing lights, and a red hotline phone. The whole thing is enclosed in a box to add to the sense of realism, and has external video monitors and a pilot camera so spectators can see what’s going inside the cockpit.

I want to play this thing so bad. Check out the video and then head to its builder’s website to learn more about the rig and lust after it with me.

Own Your Own Mech: Kuratasu Starter Kit hits Amazon Japan

Having grown up playing Mechwarrior games you can bet that I want this Kuratasu Starter kit that has turned up on Amazon Japan really badly. The problem is that it’s only a starter kit that isn’t complete and it’s very expensive. In Japan, it sells for 120,000,000 yen, which is in the area of $1 million here in the states.

For that much loot you get a cool mech suit that you can actually sit in and control using motions controls and a touchscreen. The company that makes the bot doesn’t guarantee your comfort or safety when piloting the mech.

The big downside other than the cost is that it doesn’t come with arms or forearms for the price. You have to buy those separately. When this thing first turned up a few years ago, it had a water bottle launcher in one arm and twin Gatling BB guns on the other. You could be the scourge of squirrels everywhere in this thing.
