RoboCop x Terminator Custom Action Figure: I’ll Be Back… To Buy That for a Dollar

The prolific custom action figure maker John Mallamas aka Jin Saotome tips his hat to the RoboCop vs. Terminator video games (which in turn were based on the comic book miniseries) with this badass RoboCop T-800.

Jin hollowed out the helmet of a NECA RoboCop figure then placed the head of a T-800 action figure underneath. He also modified RoboCop’s arms to make the T-800’s hands fit and be swappable with the default hands. Finally, he repainted the figure in the style of the RoboCop vs. Terminator game.

Birdman Set To Soar Michael Keaton To New Heights

How do you describe Michael Keaton's latest, seemingly complicated role in Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)?Mashable's Josh Dickey describes the story-in-a-story like this: "Michael...

LEGO Superheroes Relaxing on LEGO Couches

Have you ever wondered if superheroes were real, what would they do when they weren’t keeping us safe? Tony Stark would chase women and spend money I presume, but what about the others? These LEGO figures by Angus MacLane give us a glimpse into superheroes and other pop culture figures relaxing on their day off.

I recognize most of them, we see Batman, Iron Man, and several others. I do see a few here that I don’t recognize though. The white and black ninjas, are those supposed to be the ninjas from G.I. Joe?

The most confusing to me is the one with the white and red guy with the thing sticking out of his chest and what appears to be LEGO blood running down the couch. The title says “Kane,” but I don’t know who that is. Robocop is one of my favorites, but he wouldn’t be drinking a squishee – remember how he gets his nutrients in paste form.

Homemade ED-209: You Have 20 Seconds to Comply

Shawn Thorsson built himself a life-sized ED-209 for this year’s Maker Faire. It is awesome and scary. But not too scary. You gotta handle ED-209 just like you would a Dalek. Just run up some stairs as quick as you can. They can’t handle stairs at all.

The detail on this beast is pretty impressive. It even has all kinds of warning labels and some literal Easter eggs. Yes, the warheads on the rockets are really Easter eggs. He built it in 96 days. Given the amount of detail he put into this, that is pretty amazing.

Now we just need a life-size Robocop to go up against it.

NECA NES RoboCop Action Figure: Alex Murphy is Feeling Blue

NECA’s upcoming RoboCop action figure caters to a tiny slice of Alex Murphy fans: the now grown men and women who played the 1989 NES RoboCop game. To everyone else, it’ll look like someone dropped the toy in a jar of ink, but in reality it’s the future of law enforcement rendered in the past of video game graphics.

If it still doesn’t look right to you, this video by YouTube channel nesguide should set things straight:

Ah, the bane of RoboCop’s existence: stairs. The action figure is articulated, is 7″ tall and has his signature Auto-9 Pistol, which you can store in its spring-loaded holster.

Dat box art! Your Prime Directive is to remember this date: February 2014. That’s the tentative release date for the action figure. NECA says it won’t make the action figure available ever again after it sells out. So don’t miss it or… there will be trouble.

Cardboard Robots: Paper Beats Metal

I’ve seen my share of sci-fi movies and I know how giant robots can be pretty imposing. But these robots made from cut cardboard look like they couldn’t really do any damage – even the deadly, but tragically-flawed ED-209 from Robocop.

These awesome little cardboard robots were made by Etsy artist Cardboard Myth, and they’re the perfect thing for your desktop toy collection, don’cha think? I sure do. In addition to ED-209, you can find a Gundam-style mech, as well as a couple of totally original creations.

What’s really impressive about these robots is that they all offer articulated limbs, so you can position them like plastic action figures.

Just be careful not to get them wet, and definitely keep them away from open flames. Paper robots hate fire.

You can start building your own cardboard robot army over at Cardboard Myth’s Etsy shop, where these each sell for about $34(USD).

Robocop Cardboard Cosplay: I’d Make That for a Dollar

This amazing Robocop cosplay outfit is made completely out of cardboard. And as you can see in the video below, it is easy to wear and move around in.

The costume made an appearance at Dragon-Con and Comic-Con 2013. It was designed and built by ComicBookGirl19 along with her friend Tyson, and it’s completely awesome. It is very convincing when you see this costume out and about so you could be forgiven if you think that Detroit’s finest cop is walking down the street with you. If you needed further proof that you can do amazing things with cardboard, here it is…

Now I hope they try to make a cardboard ED-209. That I would like to see.

Robocop Statue Continues Its Journey to Detroit

We told you about Detroit’s Robocop Statue in the past. It’s one of the few joys that Detroit has left after some tough economic times. Now you can watch the unboxing of the form for the 10-foot-tall Robocop statue as it arrives at Venus Bronze Works in Detroit where it will be completed.

Pete Hottelet, who made the video, is a major investor of the project. As Pete says, “This is the foam sculpt; The bronze statue will be cast from these pieces. The final location for the statue is still to be determined, we are accepting solicitations so it gets the best placement possible.”

We will continue to cover this story until the mighty Robocop statue is standing guard over the city where he belongs.

New Robocop Trailer Released: I’d See That for a Dollar

I’ll admit I’ve been out of the loop when it comes to the new Robocop movie the last several months. Last time I mentioned it here, Hugh Laurie, the guy that played House, was set play the CEO of OmniCorp. It looks like while I wasn’t paying attention they made a few changes.

robocop

Nowhere in the trailer do we see Hugh Laurie, but you do see that bad motherfu**** himself Samuel L Jackson. It’s hard to tell from the trailer, but it appears that Jackson is playing the Chief Executive A-Hole of OmniCorp. The trailer also shows a Robocop who is more human than he was in the old-school 80s flick.

Notably, Robocop isn’t doing the robot at each turn. He appears to be quite fluid and has an auto-retracting face shield. The trailer also shows that while Robocop thinks he’s in control, he actually doesn’t have as much free will as he believes. I’m particularly glad to see not a single Ford Taurus in any of the scenes.
