1. The Sunne Light

Dutch lighting brand Sunne partnered up with designer Marjan van Aubel to create their first product – a self-powered solar light that harvests by energy day to light up your home at night. Called, the Sunne light, the sunlight-mimicking lamp gathers solar energy and is in turn exclusively powered by it. It aims to bring the power of the sun into your home. The Sunne light has been equipped with photovoltaic cells and is meant to be hung in front of a window.

2. Cozy Cleo Lamp

Based in Germany, the design studio EveryOtherDay designed this 3D-printed table lamp. It was created using recycled plastic bottles and cardboard. This sustainable product is a fine specimen of circular design and wholly embodies minimalistic design principles. Designed by Frederik Rasenberger, the lamp results from a circular process. This process involves recycled cardboard being pressed and molded into shape without the use of any kind of additives.

3. Charcoal Pilz Lamp

Designed by Jakob Tiefenbacher, the Charcoal Pilz lamp, is an all-black mushroom-shaped lamp that oozes character, and a ton of personality. The charcoal-black color of the lamp instantly grabs your attention, with its bulbous lamp head, and column-like stand amplifying its form. The Charcoal Pilz lamp seems like the perfect culmination for form, functionality, and aesthetics!

4. K Lamp ‘Remade’

The K Lamp ‘Remade’ collection was designed by Charles Birshaw and Vitamin Living, and is an intriguing reinterpretation of the iconic K lamp. It provides a second life to upcycled denim textiles, in turn creating a unique silhouette. The lamp is built from two single pieces of denim, wrapped around two plastic components, stitched, and connected together using a branded aluminum pin at the rear of the lamp.

5. Air Light

Designed by Contardi Lighting and Adam Tihany, Air is a newly designed suspension lamp that is 100% recyclable, functional, and also extremely decorative. The Air light is a physical manifestation of the exploration of ecological and design values. It features a dual lampshade design, that has the ability to produce a warm and inviting ambiance which creates an amusing play between light and shadow, using its engraved laser cuts.

1. Tender

Designed by Joao Teixeira, this beautifully-designed furniture is called Tender, and it cleverly functions as a modern coffee table and bench. The unique design features a narrow tabletop with rounded edges that seamlessly blend with the marble base, creating a furniture piece that is smooth, luxurious, and multifunctional.

2. Sweep

Created by Hadas, this stunning coffee table concept is called Sweep. The translucent coffee table lives up to its name, with its sweeping form, rising up at one end, and curling at another. The designer envisioned it in three color palettes, but the transparent form factor was retained in all three, giving the Sweep coffee table an almost otherworldly and magical feel.

3. Silky

The Silky sofa is designed to be the ultimate modern modular sofa/coffee table. It is sleek and functional and aspires to bring both of these qualities to your living room. Looking like a bunch of Jenga blocks meshed together, the Silky sofa features a curved plywood base that functions as the core element of the sofa, and also as an integrated coffee table.

4. The Chonky Coffee Table

Designed by Frank Brunetti, the Chonky Coffee Table is the perfect name for this piece of furniture! It is chonky, chubby, and occupies a generous amount of space. Its stubby legs and multiple tabletops give the table a unique yet minimal aesthetic. The secondary tabletops on the lower section of the table, as well as the circular one on the primary tabletop, have been given different colors, creating a fun contrast.

5. The Compressed Coffee Table

Designed by Deniz Aktay, the Compressed coffee table concept arises from a basic and sturdy U-shaped metallic structure that was compressed into a rectangular form, providing it with an extra dose of stability and functionality. The Compressed coffee table as its name signifies occupies minimum space with its compact little body while providing as much functionality as a larger coffee table would.

6. Donatas Žukauskas’ Coffee Table

Designed by Donatas Žukauskas, this unique looking irregularly-shaped table features a wide and quirky tabletop supported by three conical legs that end in extremely thin feet that look like they could collapse and fall apart any moment. Its form has elements of both stability and irregularity as if challenging the mind to decide whether the table is steady or is ready to collapse on one end – which is exactly what makes the table so humorous and amusing, and a far cry from the table designs we see every day.

7. Hertz Coffee Table

What makes the Hertz coffee table pretty unique are the ‘peaks’ and ‘troughs’ that support the tabletop. These peaks and troughs have different heights and were built using polyester fiber creating a unique base on which the tabletop rests. The tabletop is built using glass and offers an interesting contrast in terms of material, texture, and color to the base.

8. Wormhole Coffee Table

This mind-blowing coffee table by Olivier Gomis attempts to convert the hypothetical wormhole into a physical manifestation. The shape of a table is already quite eye-catching on its own. It’s almost like a wooden plank that has been bent so that the two ends are on top of each other and then joined together by a double cone. These are then glued together with sheets of maple veneer in between, which give the appearance of those faint light lines that form the grid.

9. Basketball Coffee Table

Designed by Nigel Vmu, this unique coffee table is for all the basketball lovers out there! Crafted from walnut, the coffee table features a crisp and simple tabletop supported by three basketballs. Each element of the table has been curved from walnut, giving it a rich yet minimal aesthetic, that instantly commands attention.

10. The Cobra Table

Designed by Deniz Aktay, the Cobra Table is a snake-inspired sculptural table that features a rather intriguing meandering shape. The artistic side table has been amped with three storage levels. The different levels slither from the bottom to the top, much like a majestic king cobra! The base and the tabletop function as storage spaces, as well as the intermediate surface in between them. The table is a beautiful bright orange, which heightens its uniqueness and quirkiness.

1. The Pentagon Stool

Designed by Designerd ™, the Pentagon Stool is a minimal low stool that has been built using five identical pieces of hardwood. The hardwood pieces function as the legs of the stool, giving it its name ‘Pentagon’. The legs are woven together and held together using a star plate. The designer states that the leg element of the stool can be swiftly and efficiently produced in a one-line production. The Pentagon Stool comes in a flat-pack design and can be assembled with ease.

2. Sushant Vohra’s Stool

Designed by Sushant Vohra, this stool design is pretty cool! It features a concise circular platform that serves as a seating section, with a concrete and clear coated sheet metal volume inserted into it, functioning as a support for the seating area. The result is a visually and geometrically interesting stool with a burst of orange that counteracts the otherwise minimal and simple appearance of the stool.

3. The Balanco Stools

The Balanco stools by Tati Architects were designed during the pandemic to provide kids and adults with something to play and engage with! Besides being interesting playthings, the stools are great seating options, inspired by rocks and boulders. You can stack the stools in different forms and patterns, in turn creating art in the process. The idea for the Balanco stools came from the Japanese practice of stacking pebbles to create towers.

4. The Fels Stool

The Fels Stool by OUT stands out from most of the stools on the market as they’re quite aesthetically pleasing. They’re a stark contrast to the boring wooden stools we usually see in homes. They have a sculptural appeal to them, and they’re also multifunctional! The Fels stool is excellent for a variety of reasons. It’s been crafted from wood, making it a sustainable and eco-friendly piece of furniture. Secondly, although it is built from wood, it looks as if it’s been carved from stone!

5. The Drum

Called the Drum, this minimal yet elegant stool features an interesting stackable design. Designed by Teixeira Design Studio, it’s been built using cork and wood, rating it high on sustainability. The seat is built using cork, features rounded trimmed surfaces, and is supported by slim wooden legs that effortlessly blend in with the seat. The cork seat is quite comfortable to sit on and also provides grip while handling. Since the stool is stackable it ensures a secure stack that stays in place always.

1. The Harmony Scooter

The Harmony scooter features a clever folding design that also allows the scooter to stand upright without falling over, and when opened, will enable you to easily, swiftly, and safely get from A to B. When traveling, Harmony’s headlight system also doubles as a notification module, projecting symbols on the road based on obstacles that the e-scooter scans. “Inspired by the headlight technology in automotive design – Harmony can help guide micro-mobility users of dangerous situations and prevent road casualties by detecting objects from the camera and projecting warnings,” designer MJ Park says.

2. ECHO

This self-driving concept trike christened ECHO is a stark view of sophistication level 5 autonomy will bring to the fore. ECHO has a trio of hubless wheels – with the two on the front reinforced with massive suspension systems to take on any bump on the road. The lack of a rider seat reiterates that you cannot take this thing around for a spin in manual mode when desired. Just imagine this thing marching forward along with a herd of Spot the Dog robot and an army of Atlas humanoids.

3. Bugatti Chiron Terracross 4×4 Off-Roader

Have you seen the 4×4 Bugatti Chiron Terracross concept by Rafał Czaniecki? It’s a bit of an oddball, but that’s exactly what makes it so intriguing. The Chiron is typically associated with smooth roads and high-end cities, but this version is built for rugged terrain and off-roading. It’s the brainchild of Rafał Czaniecki, who created it as a pandemic project. The result is a dystopian beauty that looks like it belongs in a world where futuristic cities and wastelands coexist.

4. Model M

Designed by Víctor Rodríguez Gómez, the Model M is designed keeping in mind the tight urban spaces, hence, the detachable handlebars make complete sense. The electronic kickstand makes the ride easy to park without any hassles. When it comes to adventure escapades, Tesla Model M has your needs covered. Right where the fuel tank of traditional bikes is, there is a detachable bag with its own battery that powers the lights and the multimedia system.

5. The Fordzilla Hypervan

Designed by Keyu Deng, and called the Fordzilla Hypervan, this dune buggy drew massive inspiration from the reptilians. It features a matte black color, that signifies a Godzilla influence, and matte orange hues on the outside and the inside of the ride, displaying a sharp character. The battery on the rear indicates its rear-wheel-drive origins, and therefore, a better balance and handling.

6. Yamaev’s Tricycle Concept

This odd and interesting-looking tricycle scooter concept was designed by Alexander Yamaev and features a rectangular side profile that slices through the air sharply and cleanly. It has a unique wheel setup with a large front wheel, that surrounds the scooter’s transparent bubble-shaped cockpit. It also features two rear wheels that interestingly separate at low speeds for stability, and unite at high speeds for maneuverability.

7. The Polestar CP1 Concept

Created by Lukasw Wenzhöfer, the Polestar CP1 Concept is an accessible, likable, and realistic version of the Polestar sports bike. It has a super cool geometric edgy design with high riding positions that elevates the ride’s performance status supported by the high-grade suspension system. The focus of this design is on ergonomics and functionality. So, those good looks are not merely for the eye candy factor, but rather for a defined shape that makes complete practical sense.

8. The USD RR X

Designed by Netherlands-based Ugur Sahin Design, the USD RR X is a Rolls-Royce concept that walks the careful tightrope between being a legacy RR automobile and being audaciously different. The luxury car borrows its main silhouette from the likes of Wraith and Spectre, with their luxurious-but-sporty appeal, while introducing a few minimalistic tweaks to the overall aesthetic, including sleeker headlights, edge-lines on the side, and those gorgeous aerospace-inspired rims.

9. Polestar Move2

Designed by Jen Ellison, the Polestar Move2 is a semi-autonomous, shared micro-mobility solution designed for a conceptual ‘Polestar Smart City’. It aims to be a form of comfortable personal transportation in a compact and sustainable package. The aim of the project is to discourage the ownership of cars, and instead provide a reliable, multi-modal transportation experience.

10. WAYRA EV-03

The WAYRA EV-03 electric cruiser motorcycle is a 100 percent no-gimmick concept that’ll please every kind of rider – be it a cruiser enthusiast, performance lover, or off-roading fanatic. WAYRA EV-03 is a bike high on personality, created keeping in mind the heritage of fat-bikes and cruiser-length bikes, while also having those minimal eye-catchy modern touches to create visual appeal. The presence of café racer aesthetics can also not be denied owing to the low-slung rider positioning.

Designed by João Teixeira, the Stretch Desk is a minimal and beautifully designed desk that features a spinning leather bookstand, that swivels through a pivot point, allowing you to change the depth of the desk according to your needs. The bookstand can also be flattened on the tabletop, to create more space to work. The various wooden elements add a sense of sophistication and elegance to the simple yet complex desk.

Called the DROP-01, this stunning teardrop-shaped turntable was designed by Andrea Casagrande. Built using premium quality materials like durable aluminum, and elegant glass inlays, the turntable features a sturdy construction that supports explicit and powerful audio playback. Besides allowing you to listen to your favorite songs at home, the turntable has a distinct and unique aesthetic that makes it an excellent addition to your living room.

2. Harmon Kardon Gramophone Mini Speaker Concept

Designed by Wagner Pozebon, this speaker design is the perfect epitome of minimalism, combined with the spirit of the good old gramophone, while also incorporating a modern and contemporary design aesthetic. The versatile wireless speaker features a translucent body that mimics the classic gramophone’s contours. The amplification of the speaker is right on point delivering encapsulating audio from the soundbox.

3. The Stingray Headphones

Designed by Junhyeok “Hugo” Oh, the Stingray Headphones have been created to adapt to the back of human heads, hence making them quite an ergonomic pair of headphones. They cover the back of our heads, preventing migraines and helping users to focus completely on the music. The headphones are designed to be portable, and they can be swiftly clipped onto or put into bags and pockets, making the headphones extremely easy to carry around with you.

4. The Torso Speaker

Designed by Yang Dong Wook, the Torso speaker has been designed in the image of Michelangelo’s bust of David, combining nuanced and elegant classical qualities with product design. The speaker look’s like an abstract sculptural piece that you would place on your mantelpiece, allowing guests to compliment and appreciate the artlike speaker. It adopts the same shapes, contours, and tilts as the Bust of David, with slanted shoulders and a slightly angled head, resulting in an incredibly expressive form.

5. Pavy’s Earbuds Design

Designed by Simon Pavy, this innovative earbuds concept is a unique audio device that can be used while traveling, playing sports, or during any activity where we have limited or no access to our smartphones. The nifty device combines AirPods and an AirPods case with a new and improved iPod Nano screen, hence creating a hybrid of the AirPods and the iPod, resulting in a gadget that has no need for a smartphone, since it does it all!

6. DROP-01 Speakers

Quite similar to the DROP-01 turntable and sharing the same visual language,  the DROP-01 Speaker is another innovative creation by Andrea Casagrande. The teardrop-shaped speakers are built using aluminum and glass inlays as well, allowing them to emit a clear and concise sound, enabling you to enjoy your favorite tunes.

Designed by Brendan Jude, this exquisite turntable design is dark, sleek, and handsome. yz.idesign designed this sleek and sophisticated Bluetooth speaker that draws heavy inspiration from the luxury brand Louis Vuitton. AI-generated Hìtëkw Tennis Racquet – YD x KeyShot Inspiration Hub Design of the Month #2

The second-ever YD x KeyShot Inspiration Hub Design of the Month goes to the Hìtëkw, a rather interesting-looking tennis racquet with an even more interesting back story. Designed using a combination of AI-based tools as well as generative design, the Hìtëkw boasts of a futuristic visual aesthetic that’s never been seen before… and that isn’t all. The redesigned racquet is lighter and stronger too, as a result of this AI-powered makeover!

All Design Lab experimented with using OpenAI’s Dall·E2 to generate concept directions for the racquet’s design, only to realize that almost the AI could only work on a dataset of existing images; and nobody had ever made a racquet like the Hìtëkw before, which made it difficult for the AI to really think outside the box. This became the starting point for All Design Lab’s creative brief, which was to completely redesign the racquet’s silhouette itself.

To create new racquet archetypes, the All Design Lab team relied on new CAD tools. The designers created their rough form in Gravity Sketch, a VR-based 3D program that lets you sketch and sculpt in virtual reality, before taking the product to a generative algorithm to optimize the racquet’s unique frame for strength and reliability. The result was the Hìtëkw, a racquet that’s stronger and lighter than its competitors, with a distinct visual edge thanks to its organic, 3D-printed generative metal design.

“Rackets have become more lightweight and durable through new materials and advanced manufacturing techniques”, the All Design Lab team mentions. “Yet the potential is still there to envision an even lighter and stronger racket that takes advantage of new design techniques, specifically, advanced CAD processes such as generative design tools.”

1. Karen Ultralight

Visualized by Anima Design for Katahashi Instruments, the Karen Ultralight is a dynamic and uber-cool-looking electric violin that features a relatively hollow body and dumps the traditional wooden acoustic chambers. It features a 3D-printed generative frame that sits on a carbon fiber body, with a birchwood fingerboard for an even better but still familiar violin-playing experience.

2. The Throne

Designed by Spanish design studio Nagami and To: this 3D-printed toilet is called The Throne and is made up of three parts – a teardrop-shaped body, a double-curved sliding door, and a bucket for solid waste. The various parts of the toilet were printed within three days – pretty quickly! This includes the base and multiple other smaller accessories that were either injection molded or ordered. It also includes an off-the-shelf separation toilet seat to separate urine from solids for composting.

3. The Cryptide Sneaker

The Cryptide 3D Sneaker Sintratec 2

Designed by Stephan Henrich for Sintratec, the Cryptide Sneaker is a pair of full 3D shoes that are laser sintered with a flexible TPE material. The shoes were printed using a Sintratec S2 System 3D printer. The Cryptide features a sole with an open design. The designer said it was made possible by SLS production (Selective Laser Sintering) and a material called Sintratec TPE elastomer.

4. The Polyformer

The Polyformer is made from recycled plastic PET bottles and features an interesting translucent white appearance. Designed by Reiten Cheng, the 3D-printed machine slices up PET bottles, and melts them, turning them into filaments only 1.75 mm in diameter. These recycled plastic threads can then be used in normal 3D printers to create more things, probably with the same distinctive translucent appearance as the Polyformer.

5. bFRIENDS

Pearson Lloyd teamed up with 3D-manufacturing studio Batch.Works to create pen pots, trays, and a mobile-phone stand made from discarded food packaging. They created this collection for the office brand Bene, and it is called bFRIENDS. The products were 3D-printed using recycled polylactic acid (PLA) sourced from food packaging by Batch.Works.

6. 3D Printed Chairs

Johannes Steinbauer Office For Design created these 3D-printed seats that can be built without fabrics, springs, and foam, and they still manage to be comfortable and functional. The chairs use rigid prints instead of the usual racks from chairs. The different parts are easy to assemble and disassemble and once it reaches the end of life, you can dispose of the different parts separately and recycle them accordingly. Yes, the chairs are easy to assemble and sustainable – the best of both worlds!

7. 88M Pegasus

Jozeph Forakis and his strategic design agency conceived the world’s first 3D-printed superyacht. It has been equipped with a multitude of sustainability features, and “Tree of Live” as its centerpiece. Called the 88M Pegasus, this is the superyacht of the future. With a layout that renders it completely invisible floating on water, it operates completely emissions-free – making this yacht a pretty drool-worthy one!

8. Cozy Cleo Lamp

Based in Germany, the design studio EveryOtherDay designed this 3D-printed table lamp. It was created using recycled plastic bottles and cardboard. This sustainable product is a fine specimen of circular design and wholly embodies minimalistic design principles. This process involves recycled cardboard being pressed and molded into shape without the use of any kind of additives. It is shredded into pieces by adding water and then pressed into shape by applying 5 tons of pressure using a hydraulic press.

9. The Kelp Mini Clutch

Designed by Julie Koerner, the Kelp Mini Clutch features interesting organic patterns that are based on 3D scans of natural topologies from kelp collected from the Malibu coastline in California. The unique and innovative design not only gives the clutch a rather natural charm but also makes it easier to use. The voids created by the patterns not only let you have a slight view of what’s inside the bag but also make it more lightweight.

10. The Vine Collection

The Vine collection features a variety of interesting  3D-printed products – including a vase-like vessel, basket, bowl, and dish tray that look as if a bunch of wooden rods were twisted and played around with to create pleasing shapes and curves. Designed by fuseproject, the products are quite sustainable and recyclable since no adhesives and extra connecting parts were used to create them. The twisting shapes serve as metaphors for the organic nature of trees that eventually end up as source materials for these products.

1. The Tekron Chair

Called the Tekron Chair, this interesting and unique concept for a folding chair has a rather “unconventional structure”. Designed by (acasso), the Tekron chair attempts to improve and elevate the user experience, especially when one has to fold and store away the chair. Nylon straps and military-grade metal buckles were used for folding and storing the chair. You have to tighten the strap from behind in order to fully fold the chair and make it as flat as possible if you don’t need to use it. It will not unfold unless you release the buckle so there will be no accidental unfolding like with normal folding chairs.

2. Elsa Sofa

Designed by naishform, the Elsa sofa is a sturdy and bulky furniture design defined by modules of grey cushions supported by solid steel legs. Aesthetically the Elsa sofa is simple, functional, and minimal. It gives the impression of a solid sofa that can support a good amount of weight and can withstand multiple bumps and grazes. The large cushions that form the body of the sofa are arranged in ascending order, with each cushion being large than the previous one.

3. Drum

Designed by Teixeira Design Studio, the Drum stool is minimal, elegant, stackable, and not to mention sustainable. If you don’t look at the Drum stool too carefully at first, it may look like a cute little wine cork to you. But once you gaze more deeply, you’ll realize that it is a smartly designed stool using cork and wood, making it good-looking and eco-friendly. Cork was used to build the seat, while the long legs were built using wood. The wooden legs fit perfectly into the grooves on the cork seat.

4. The Easy Chair

The Easy Chair by designer @u__bean05 really does have an easy and free-flowing vibe to it. It looks like a free wave crashing on the shore, or a melodious musical note. The curved section functions as the seating surface, where one can curl up and read their favorite book. This curved backside functions as a cozy lounging surface. A spherical ball-like volume provides support to the chair and allows it to stand firmly in one position on the ground.

5. The Fortune Chair

Designed by Hyeyoung Han and Hanyoung Lee, the Fortune Chair is a mix between a bean bag, a chair, and a pod, and it also happens to look like a fortune cookie. The outer shell of the chair is much like a fortune cookie and works as a covering frame that surrounds and protects the user. This outer wall helps create a space that is comfortable and private.  So, irrespective if you’re working in a corporate office or at home, the Fortune Chair functions as a little oasis for you to work in peace, much like the office pods we find today in commercial offices.

6. The Form Single Sofa

Designed by SUNRIU Design, the Form Single Soa is a fluid-looking sofa defined by a chunky bold form marked with flowy lines. The sofa is quite visually intriguing and looks like a hunk of concrete. The seating section is a smoothly carved dent, that looks like it will perfectly seat someone’s buttocks. The rear portion of the sofa seems like it could function as a neat hanging spot for your pet as well, allowing you and your pet to sit and chill together.

7. Kenneth’s Sofa Chair

This bulbous sofa concept by Kenneth is fun, bold, and quirky! It features a round form with a comfortable seating section nestled in the center of it. An outer shell-like volume forms a protective layer around the seating section, giving the chair a sense of privacy and calm. The headboard will cover you from both sides, so you feel like you’re nestled within a pod.

8. Sado Chair

Martin Luu designed the Sado chair as an experiment in unconventional design. Sado’s intriguing form reminds you of a horizontal tree log or horseback, suited for a straddled seated position that encourages a healthy posture. When positioned atop Sado, the chair’s seat rotates freely to enable 360-degree accessibility to nearby objects within arm’s reach. Adjustable leg supports also provide a place for your legs to rest while helping to sustain a leveled spinal position. Sado is an incredible ergonomic option if you’re looking for a chair that encourages and support a great posture.

9. Carrera’s Couches

Designed by Bonny Carrera, these beautiful AI-generated sofas are fun, quirky, and colorful. Created on Midjourney, the couches are a pop of color and burst of excitement and the kind of designs that would truly light up our homes. The first couch seems to have drawn inspiration from lettuce and avocado, as it looks like a healthy veggie that’s ready for us to eat. The second armchair looks like a lovely conch shell, defined by streaks of different colors.

10. The Pentagon Stool

The Pentagon Stool is a minimal and simple low stool that comprises of five identical pieces of hardwood. Designed by Designerd ™, the five hardwood pieces serve as the legs of the stool, which quite funnily gives the stool its name ‘Pentagon’.
