Watch how this 4.7-inch thick monolithic slab opens up into a comfortable movie theater chair!

Originally made for theaters and cinema halls, this Piet Mondrian-inspired chair is a marvel of minimal design, 20th-century abstract art, and engineering! Titled the Mono, it exists as a 4.7-inch thick slab when closed, but unfolds into a plush cinema-style seat with armrests.

MONO is designed by Philip Kronqvist and he explains, ” MONO chair has a rectangular design that opens the back, seat, and armrests with one movement. The chair is only 12 cm deep in the upright position. The seat recovers spring-loaded while swiveling the back and armrests back into the case.” This unique lever mechanism for the seat and armrests makes them rise synchronously by one movement, and its slim, collapsed shape provides extra space and allows more chairs to fit into a given area. The sleek chair comes with a spring-loaded mechanism too, which means it goes back to its monolithic slab shape when you get up. The furniture design is something art lovers and Piet Mondrian fans would love to experience (or own!). The only thing missing? A place to rest your drinks and popcorn…and maybe the ability to hang this seat up on the wall for when you invite guests?

The Mono Chair is a winner of the Sit Furniture Design Award for the year 2020.

The BAC Mono is arguably the world’s sexiest street-legal supercar

Words do little justice when it comes to capturing the BAC Mono’s beauty which lies in its raw, powerful design. The new generation of Briggs Automotive Company’s supercar was debuted online following the cancelation of the Geneva Motor Show. The Mono, now in its second generation, is lighter and more powerful than its predecessor, seats one person, has a top speed of 170mph, goes from 0-60 in 2.7 seconds, and for some reason, is street legal in continental Europe and around the world.

Emphasizing on lightness and power, the BAC Mono makes the clever use of individual surfaces rather than forms. The two surfaces (silver and black) come together to give the car its clean shape while emphasizing lightness by splitting the visual mass and relying on crisp, sharp edges on the front and back, giving the feeling like the car was draped with a 2D material. It still retains a sense of organic design, with a prominent shark-nose to emphasize aggression, while efficiently guiding airflow not just to minimize drag but to also help cool the Mono’s 2.3-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged engine.

The single-seater still manages to meet road legality standards with an engine that passes stringent EU6D emissions regulations. It does so while weighing just 570kg despite numerous additions under the skin in line with European regulations. This is, in part achieved by BAC’s graphene R&D programs which it relied on to make the Mono R from last year, as well as new generative-design wheels created in partnership with Autodesk to maintain the highest performance standards while cutting down severely on weight.

The supercar comes with a price tag of £165,950, which roughly translates to 212,500 of your American dollars – a little on the costlier side for a road-legal car considering it seats only one… but come on, will you look at that beaut!

Measuring at 9 feet wide, 12 feet high, and 16 feet across, the Mono Cabin is literally homely. I mean literally. Shaped like the icon for a home, this pre-fab cabin comes ready to live in, and can be carried and placed literally anywhere your heart desires.

Available in three styles, the Mono comes with an extruded profile and an option of having glass panels on the front and back (after all, it’s the view that adds to the beauty of the cabin), as well as incorporate a glass skylight. The 9ft.x12ft. floor space is ideal for a bed, sofa, and even a small work-table, and there’s even a 4-foot long deck at the entrance, for your early-morning coffee-drinking sunset-watching needs. The cabin comes with 6 pot lights and a plug-point, solid core insulation, and even electric heating, making life easy while you literally retire to the beauty of the nature around you.

Look at how cool these specs are!

With Warby Parker locations popping up all over the world, it’s no surprise that small eyewear vendors are going out of business. What’s more frustrating is that this expensive wearable lasts as long as you are willing to take care of them. Mishandling or improper care will only lead to heartbreak when you sit on these guys. With such tremendous talent and accessibility to 3D fabrication cropping up more and more, it’s no surprise that we keep seeing fun innovations around glasses and other personal accessories. One of notable mention is the MONO 3D printed eyewear by ITUM. Having completed a fully funded Indiegogo campaign in 2015, MONO have gone on to develop glasses with a twist – literally. 3D printed as one entity; the frames sit comfortably snug against the user’s face with only three simple measurements. MONO’s collection consists of five styles of frames, re-interpreted from classic profiles and come in 4 colorways – not just this but MONO gives eight colors of lenses for the users’ choice. These are a design that I’ve never seen before, and I must say, the vision for MONO looks clear and bright.

The Mono Effect

One of the biggest assets that The Mono Sink has is its minimal approach towards lines and bevels. The other highlight is that on the sink’s side there is an overflow, which, alongside with the outlet is designed to manage a maximum water flow rate without any problems. Crafted from Cristadur, an innovational material, the finishing of the sink is superb!

GRID 2 Mono Edition: buy a £125,000 racing game, get a supercar for free

GRID 2 Mono Edition attaches a 125,000 sports car to a 40 game

While we like our collector's edition games, there's no question that even the better bundles are full of knick-knacks we'll use just once or twice. No one will say the same for Codemaster's GRID 2: Mono Edition, though. The UK-only bundle includes the GRID 2 racing game, a PS3 to play it on... and a very real BAC Mono supercar. Whoever buys the £125,000 ($188,700) kit will get to both pick up the 280HP single-seater as well as customize it at the BAC factory, including the racing suit for those inevitable track days. With just one instance available for GRID 2's May 31st release, the Mono Edition bundle is more of a promotional stunt than a business strategy -- but it might be the only special edition where the extras are more exciting than the game itself.
