Temperatures are rising up, and it really does feel like summer’s around the corner! With summer in the air, there’s also a lot of excitement brewing up. Because summer means barbeque season! This basically means that to set up an open fire, you simply need to remove a few refractory plates from within the AIRY cylinder, which instantly exposes the flames, creating the mesmerizing flame dance we all love to watch in an open fire! Much like its predecessor the Noori V02 AIRY also features a pizza disc, allowing you to not only bake up some pizzas but bread as well. The disc also supports roasters, and containers suitable for ovens. The upper half-moon grill and the lower orbital grill come together to support your cooking. However, the lower grill has a few additional uses – it centralizes the tube of the Rocket system in the refractory body, and also holds the coal you use for barbequing. A built-in thermometer displays temperature readings in both Celsius and Fahrenheit, aiding you in cooking accurately. A removable lid with a reclaimed wood and steel handle comes in handy when you want to cover up the grill and cook up some pizzas and bake.

The Float ‘N’ Grill, A Floating Propane Grill for Cooking on the Water

The Float ‘N’ Grill is a portable propane grill that attaches to a flip-resistant buoyant plastic raft so you can grill out on the water and not set your deck or raft on fire. The unit is available in patriotic red or blue and can be found on Amazon (affiliate link). Mmmm, can you smell that? Smells like lake water and burnt meat.

The grill detaches from its raft for easy cleaning and storage, has a specially designed grease trap, includes three molded cup holders for resting cold beers and/or seasoning, and two tow hooks for keeping the grill in place on the water. Obviously, I’m going to tow mine behind my inner tube as I float down the river and over a waterfall.

Just when you think you’ve seen it all, somebody goes and manufactures a floating grill. What will they think of next – a flying grill? Because that sounds incredibly dangerous and I must have one, how do I get on a waiting list?

To get over the monotony of indoor cooking we resort to outdoor cooking in the backyard or patio for a refreshing change. That, however, is not an everyday affair – and eventually, it is about going back to the same routine of preparing meals in the kitchen. Even more so for millennials who have to cook food for their family alone in the kitchen. Now, that can get utterly boring when done over and over again for days, weeks, or months at end. So how can one break the monotony, while still being practical in adapting the positives of outdoor cooking, and bringing it right to your living room?

Stoke cooking appliance designed by DongJae Koo with able help from JaYoung Koo, SeongGu, and JaeSoen Lee is for such individuals who want to elevate their cooking experience beyond normal. It makes even more sense in the current scenario where most of us are stuck at homes for the major part of the day. The appliance elevates from the usual dial stove cooking method, as it uses the charcoal modules for controlling the amount of heat that is transferred to the electron conduction plate. There are three sections on the Stoke – one an upper grill, a middle section for steaming, and the lower section that has the charcoal burning area.

Using a poker to mix the charcoal, one can alter the temperature by moving the charcoal modules to the right (to raise the temperature) or moving them to the left for lowering down the temperature. The idea here is to enjoy the cooking experience while you have a relaxing conversation with the family. The other satisfying bit is the whole idea of seeing the food cooked right in your living room. After all cooking and eating should be an experience everyone enjoys and participates in (especially cooking).

Spring is receding and the weather is heating up steadily. Most of us are already taming our yards and when the good weather is here, some of us will want to cook and dine under the sun. For the good barbeque and occasional wine sessions, a decent outdoor layout is a must-have. It’s not easy camping if you are not sure how you’re going to set up a fire, and eventually cook the food you have been carrying. Fire pits are an option, but most of them you find on the market weigh heavy and occupy a lot of space; owing to which many campers take to the woods without the equipment. A tool used for firing clay in a kiln transforms into a minimalist bird feeder! This ceramic bird feeder doesn’t present a new solution for bird feeders but does present an approach for sustainable product manufacturing that solves a problem faced by many designers: the scrap material used during construction, like rings in clay kilns, that is discarded once the product is finished. Ceramika Design and Studio Kononenko wanted to make use of ceramic rings used when firing clay in kilns. The main element of the bird feeder is formed from ceramic – the frame and body of the bird feeder. Covering just about a quarter of the round frame is a plastic plate that functions to store plenty of food for the wild birds. Extending from the middle of the plastic plate is a wooden peg that works as a perch for birds to enjoy their seeds. It’s a beautiful sustainable design for your backyard!

The company behind this work shed has been acing the game when it comes to well-designed office furniture like flexible desks and ergonomic chairs. The Zen Work Pod was a culmination of their furniture design mission clubbed with the need of the hour. The minimalist backyard structure is a stark contrast to the existing toolsheds, it is a modern workspace equipped with all essentials needed for a ‘zen’ workday. “It provides a fresh solution that completely redefines the home office, providing maximum focus during every working hour,” says the team who especially kept creators and freelancers in mind while designing it. The pod features floor-to-ceiling windows and an angular roof all wrapped in a sturdy oak, walnut, and aluminum structure. It is compact but the minimal build and sweeping windows make it feel spacious.

The BURCH BARREL gives you unprecedented control over your barbecue process. You can operate the barbecue lid without having to touch it, or rest the grill on any uneven surface without worrying about it falling over, you can even lift the grill plate off the coal-pan to add more fuel. It is compatible with your smart devices as well as Siri so you can set up the home kit and control the system with your phone, tablet, etc. It has 7 watering periods in a day and you can set it up as per your needs and even create an autonomous schedule. These irrigation plans are stored in Eve Aqua so even if your device is disconnected, it will still do the job. It also has a two-channel water distributor so you can use it for irrigation without tying up your faucet. The auto shut-off feature makes sure you never have to watch the clock or come home to a flooded garden. The NOMAD Briefcase Grill & Smoker: For Cooking on the Go

Because you never know when the need to grill or smoke some meat is going to hit you, NOMAD has developed the Briefcase Grill & Smoker, a $600 portable grill and smoker in the form of a 28-pound briefcase. Am I going to handcuff it to my wrist and pretend it contains the nuclear launch codes? No, I’ve done that before and lost the key and it turned into a whole big thing.

The cast aluminum briefcase measures approximately 21″ x 14″ x 10″ and opens to reveal 212 or 425 square inches of total grilling space depending on if you’re using a single side or both. Its exterior includes an integrated thermometer and is specially coated to reduce the shell’s temperature and make it safe to cook on most outdoor surfaces. From what I gathered from their marketing material though, it was not designed to cook while carrying like a briefcase, which is a shame because that’s exactly what I was looking for.

I remember the first time I went camping and thought I was so smart for packing a George Foreman grill. Well, it turns out I was not so smart because there were no electrical outlets in those rocks and trees. I ate a lot of cold hot dogs that weekend.
