This Nike Shoebox Is Actually a Safe

You can buy safes that look like all kinds of things: soda cans, shaving cream, etc. The idea is to hide your valuables in something that looks not so valuable. I guess that’s why this safe disguised as a Nike shoe box is weird. Some pairs of Nike shoes can be very valuable. If anything, this will draw the eye of thieves and encourage them to Just Do It! But what do I know?

You can’t buy the Mandem Safe just yet, but its creators do have prototypes made using five-millimeter thick folded steel on the inside, surrounded in an innocuous cardboard box. It even has pre-drilled holes on the bottom so you can secure it to a floor and prevent someone from running off with it. Your Nike box can’t do that.

Nothing yet on pricing or availability.

The $39.99 Safego is a mini-safe that lets you store your phone, wallet, and other valuables inside a locked chamber. It will secure to rails, benches, or other fixtures so you can keep it nearby. It is basically a hard plastic box that can only be opened using both a combination and a key for two layers of protection.

The shy little Pacifier

doddle_pop_pacifier_1

Babies are adorable. However they’re a little behind in the etiquette department. Everything, regardless of where it’s been, has to visit the mouth. Which is why mothers give them pacifiers to plug that ever inquisitive pie-hole! Ask any mother and their biggest nuisance would be having to meticulously clean the pacifiers when they fall to the floor. The Doddle Pop, however, has a nifty trick up its sleeve. Literally! The pacifier, when it begins its downward descent towards the floor, the nipple retracts into a safe sleeve so that it never makes contact with the ground. The mother can just pick it up, flip the pacifier out and pop it back into le tiny human’s mouth! Made out of medical grade silicon, the Doddle Pop is a single piece design that’s safe, easy to maintain, small and convenient, and let’s not forget, just brilliantly designed!

Designers: Janna Badger, Jared Aller and Nicky Radzely.

Fully Functional LEGO Safe Protects Your Bricks

When I was a kid, I used to get mad when my brother would take off with my LEGO wheels. He would leave them lying around and I’d end up with a car that had only two wheels. Assuming my brother didn’t steal the gears, and I had the LEGO skills to build this working combination safe, I totally would have.

The safe is made using nothing but LEGO bricks by Jason Allemann. It has a three number combination and the only way to open it without the combination is to break the bricks.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, the video of the safe highlighting the details is worth eleventy billion words. Check it out to learn more about this cool LEGO project.

Build Your Own LEGO Magnetized Safe

Protect your valuables using LEGO bricks – by making a safe with them. You know you have a ton laying around and hey, it beats stepping on them. This video will teach you how to take your leftover LEGO bricks and turn them into a secret safe.

Basically you will be creating a hidden drawer inside of a LEGO structure that will not draw suspicion from would-be thieves. By attaching some cleverly-placed magnets you will be creating a safe that is only accessible if you know where the internal magnet is. No one looks for valuables in your LEGO creations after all. Well, unless they read this. Hmmm. Let’s just hope they don’t read this.

It’s a simple build that most anyone can do. Plus, it’s another excuse to play with LEGO.
