The workshop houses over 3 million LEGO bricks in 70 different colors, including some really rare ones. Basically, working in this place is the coolest job ever. Master model builders Robbie McCarthy and Bill Gowdy show off LEGO’s proprietary 3D modeling software and tell you how they bring their large and small creations to life. This right here is nerd Disneyland people.

There are bins full of bricks everywhere, not to mention all of the creations that are already built. The folks that work here are masters at their craft.

It took a total of around 30 hours and 200,000 LEGO pieces to build the 16’x 12′, 1100lb. replica.

Aside from this record setting model, Legoland Malaysia is also letting visitors build their own mini Millennium Falcon on any weekend this May.

500,000 Brick LEGO Death Star at LEGOLand Windsor

This 500,000 brick LEGO Death Star can be found at LEGOLand in Windsor UK. Can you even imagine how much time and effort it took to build? Well, I’ll tell you. It took 15 model makers three months to build it and it weighs about 1,900 pounds. It may not fire lasers to obliterate planets, but if this thing fell on you, the result would be the same. So it is deadly.

It will be part of the “finale” for the Star Wars Miniland Model Display, which also features X-Wings and TIE fighters in battle. If you find yourself there as a guest, you will even be able to trigger special sound and light effects, which is pretty cool.

You can see it in LEGOLand Windsor when the exhibit opens on March 11. The video is a time-lapse video of the build. The rest of the model display looks pretty cool too. You can catch some glimpses in the video.

The Death Star Is Coming to LEGOLand California

If you are a fan of LEGOLand California, you’ll be happy to know that they have a great new addition coming just for Star Wars fans. The park has been building a massive Death Star made entirely out of LEGO bricks. This will make LEGOLand the ultimate power in the universe.

It is impressive. Most impressive! And the folks at LEGOLand are good enough that they intend not to unveil it by blowing up a planet. It will debut on March 5th at LEGOLand’s Star Wars Miniland area. There are no X-Wings ready to make trench runs, just the Death Star itself in all it’s glory. Check out the silent video below see them putting it in place. Be sure to hum along the Imperial March. Or try this instead.

This space station consists of more than 500,000 LEGO bricks and stands 13 feet-tall. It measures 8 feet-wide and weighs over 1,900 pounds.

Guests can choose from a Pirate, Kingdom or Adventure themed room. There are 250 rooms in all, with two separate sleeping areas. You get a queen-size bed for grown-ups, and a separate area for up to three little ones, a bunk bed, pull-out trundle bed and their own TV. When you stay there you also get your family exclusive early admission to LEGOLAND.

The hotel will feature over 3400 LEGO models throughout the premises, built from over 3 million bricks in total. It’s too bad that the entire hotel isn’t made from LEGO bricks.
