The Luggage Trap

This luggage tray concept surely tops the ones I have seen long distance buses use. The entire tray pulls out and allows you to load the bags with ease. Next, you slide the tray back in and you’re ready to go. The difference actually is the ability of the tray to slide out completely and hold the weight of the bags thanks to the pull-down legs. A simple redesign that can work out well for the loader and his back! Relief from the strain!

Simply Slide!

It’s not the question of carrying money and cards; its how we carry it. A well-designed wallet is all that we ask for, one that is minimalistic, sexy and above all – functional. The silver lining to the SLIDE Wallet is the materials used, which is cork fabric & classic denim. Who would have thought that something as simple and sustainable as cork can be used to design a great wallet!

We caught up with the designer Calvin Kwok, and asked him what led him to create the SLIDE Wallet.

Calvin – The SLIDE Wallet was created after an inquiry from a friend who was looking to replace a traditional bi-fold (read FAT) wallet. I have always carried a front pocket wallet but I was definitely not in love with what I was using at the time. The following weeks were spent critiquing what was already on the market and sketching out a few ideas. Function was a driving factor in the design of the SLIDE Wallet. The natural materials of cork and denim sets the SLIDE Wallet apart from the sea of black and brown that makes up the men’s accessory market.

On a more personal note, Calvin says, “I am a project driven person with an eye for clever solutions to everyday problems. Previously, I spent a bit of time in furniture design but abandoned that medium after being confined to a small den in a condo. I ended up borrowing a 1921 Singer and picked up sewing as my new creative outlet. I started designing textile solutions to everyday problems for my own personal use.

STITCH & LOCKE came to fruition with the help of friends who were excited about my early wallet prototypes. They put together an early business plan to urge me to launch the SLIDE wallet Kickstarter campaign. Navigating the design and manufacturing world has been an exciting and rewarding experience.”

Calvin’s story goes on to re-enforce our belief that if you dream … you dream big and be big.

Details:

  • Crafted from eco-friendly materials.
  • The durable cork exterior holds your most frequently used cards.
  • The classic denim interior pocket protects and stores the rest.
  • It holds up to 8 cards comfortably.
  • The innovative corner notch allows you to easily SLIDE out lesser-used cards whenever you want them.
  • The super slim design fits into any front pocket.
  • It also fits comfortably into the back pocket.
  • Product size: 98 mm x 69 mm x 7 mm
  • Materials: cork fabric exterior and cotton denim interior

SlideRider Turns Stairs Into a Slide

SlideRider

Running down the stairs two steps at a time, sliding down the banister when the adults aren’t looking–they’re fun to do (but not as fun when you’re in a hurry), although it’s not really the safe way to go when you’re heading down a flight of stairs. It could be fun again for everyone in the household, though, with the installation of the SlideRider.

It’s a set of mats that fold out and connect to transform stairs into slides. All you have to do is take it out, connect the different components to form the slide, and lay it on top of the stairs. And voila–instant slide!

The SlideRider was thought up by Trisha Cleveland, and she’s now working with Quirky to try and turn it into a reality.

Sliderider Turns Stairs into a Slide: Wheeeeeee!

The SlideRider looks like a lot of fun. It is basically a set of connected folding mats that turn an ordinary staircase into a slide. It will be so crazy fun that you won’t want to stop there. Soon you will be installing monkey bars and a swing set in your home too. Just convert your home into an entire playground. Why not?

This indoor slide comes from inventor Trisha Cleveland, who is working with Quirky to make the product a reality. The mats all fold up into a single base unit for easy storage. This is any kid’s dream come true. What kid wouldn’t want a slide in the house?

This is an amazing idea. But how do you get back up after you slide down?

35mm Slides Make Literal Slide Curtains

Curtains come in all shapes and sizes and colors. They even come in sheer fabrics to let a bit of light in. But maybe you want something a little more colorful, that will the light through while looking unique. These 35mm slide curtains will do nicely.

Scott Sherwood made this colorful set of slide curtains. Getting so many images was easy since he has amassed a huge collection of images from around the world by different photographers over the years. Naturally he made curtains from his selections in his 35mm film archive.

Scott arranged the 1,152 slides by dominant color, which flow from pink to red to orange to yellow to green to blue and to purple. The slides are inside slide mounts, which are connected to each other with 7,000 metal rings and held on to a curtain rod with 36 large rings. The 5’7” by 6’ curtain took four months of work, but it looks pretty awesome, so it was worth it.

NTT Docomo User Number Slide Despite Addition of iPhone

Japan’s #1 carrier company, NTT Docomo has slid back on the ratings charts. This occurred in spite of the iPhones 5S and 5C being supported by the firm. The downturn in fate seemed to have happened...

Coolest Playground Slide Ever is Attached to a Jetliner

I’ve seen some cool playground slides in my day, but this one has got to be the neatest. It is attached to a jetliner. How much fun would that be to use? In fact this would be a cool way to exit a plane at any time. I dont know about you, but I would spend all day playing on this thing.

tupolev slide

This twisty slide is mounted to a Tupolev Tu-124 located in the Ukraine, where all of the kids grow up awesome and not fearing heights at all. Cool as this thing is though, I don’t know if I would trust those supports to hold the airplane up. They don’t look all that sturdy. Then again, it makes it more of a fun danger game. Slide, then run.

Every time you make it out safely you win… Until you don’t.

Lomography Smartphone Film Scanner goes on sale for $59

Lomography Smartphone Film Scanner now available for regular sales at $60

Lomography's Smartphone Film Scanner has reached that moment that every crowdfunding project strives for, but often seems elusive: everyday sales. The peripheral is now sitting in stock at an ordinary, post-Kickstarter $59 price. As you'd expect, the functionality remains what we were promised earlier in the year. Slot in an iPhone, or certain Android smartphones, and scanning 35mm film or a slide is just a matter of lining things up and snapping a photo with the phone's camera. Anyone who's sitting on a treasure trove of old photos -- or is just holding on to that film SLR for dear life -- can shop for the scanner at the source link.

Just Mobile talks about working with Apple and why it manufactures in Taiwan exclusively

Just Mobile talks about Apple product certification, previews its AluRack, AluBase and HeadStand

For the average Joe that have managed to stay out of the Apple circle, the Just Mobile brand might not immediately ring a bell, but chances are you would've come across one of its peripheral designs at some point. The only problem is unless you knew the company in the first place, you'd easily assume that the aluminum or even plastic knock-offs are just based on generic designs, because there are simply too many of them. It's no wonder Just Mobile co-founders Nils Gustafsson and Erich Huang take imitations of all forms very personally (especially the ones they and their lawyers see at CES), but fortunately, we were spared from prolonged ranting when we visited the duo's office in Taichung, Taiwan recently. What we were treated to instead was an insight into how an accessory maker works with Apple and why Just Mobile manufactures exclusively in Taiwan, as well as getting a preview of the upcoming AluRack, HeadStand and AluBase that are due out this month.
