Growing up, there wasn’t much to watch on TV during the summer. We didn’t have 693 channels, we had four. You watched what was on and what was on more often than not was that afroed painter Bob Ross. I loved watching that dude paint; he was always making happy little trees.
I also loved the thought that there were no mistakes to be made painting, only little birds. If you took Bob Ross and crossed him with a Ninja Turtle, this is what you would get. The Joy of Eating is a shirt with what appears to be a ninja turtle with a ‘fro. He is painting a happy little pizza, pepperoni naturally. In this world, I think any mistakes you make in painting become anchovies.

It’s almost as if you captured the bounty hunter, lopped off his head, and mounted it on the wall. Or more like his backpack malfunctioned and sent him smashing face first into your building. There are also Yoda and Darth Vader lights if you’re not into Fetts – though I’ve never been a fan of Yoda myself.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have dressed up for Halloween, thanks to Dan Polydoris aka the Chicago Toy Collector. Dan’s Sewer Slashin’ Turtles kitbash sees Splinter’s pupils dressed up as popular bad guys in slasher flicks. Donatello is Freddy Krueger, Michelangelo is Michael Myers, Raphael is Jason Voorhees and Leonardo is Leatherface.
Dan says he was inspired by toy maker Playmates’ barrage of costumed TMNT action figures in the 90s. Hence Dan’s cheesy poster of his action figures. If you’re not familiar with kitbashing, it’s the practice of making a new action figure using parts from other commercially available toys. In this case, most of the parts that Dan used came from various TMNT action figures as well. For example, Donny Krueger’s huge hand is from a robot Bebop action figure. Guess where Raph Voorhees’ mask is from.

Great work. It takes a good eye to do this sort of thing. You can’t just stick a Vader head and some arms on an Game Boy and expect it to turn out this good.
