This electric tiny camper is a houseboat and trike designed to travel on land and water!

Just to be fully prepared for all possibilities 2020 can bring, Zeltini has designed Z-Triton – an electric houseboat that does it all! The concept of having a vehicle that is a house, boat, and trike combined that travels over land and water is something straight out of a Spy Kids movie but Zeltini really came through with a real one!

The Z-Triton Electric Houseboat was created as a vehicle that could serve as an alternative to the traditional camper. It is comfortable enough to house two adults for a weekend getaway and the choice of land or water is up to the travelers. The amphibious nature of the modern camper fits into the flexible lifestyle we lead today, especially since air travel is not on the cards anytime soon it is opening up a lot of avenues for local trips in less popular/offbeat locations. The durable houseboat measures 3.6 meters in length, 1.2 meters in width, and 1.55 meters in height.

The team is testing the prototype by driving it around in different weather conditions to see if this tiny electric camper can be an all-terrain travel vehicle. It uses electric assistance that lets the users control power, lighting, temperature, and more. Simply fold up the seat and it unveils the floor space for two people to lay down. This quirky blue and orange vehicle has a tricycle mounted on one side that conveniently folds up or down to transition from land to water. Z-Triton will encourage more sustainable tourism and will allow people to travel spontaneously. It is scheduled to hit the market in 2021 and I am already making a list of places I want to take it to!

How Lamborghini successfully carried over its racecar design language onto a luxury yacht

Behold the ‘Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63’, a one-of-a-kind, limited edition motor yacht that turns Lamborghini’s adrenaline-pumping driving experience waterborne. Created as a collaboration between Lamborghini and The Italian Sea Group, the Tecnomar beautifully captures the raging bull experience, with design details that almost instantly make it synonymous with Lamborghini’s stile. We’re not going to dive into the technicalities of the Tecnomar, but rather look at how wonderfully the two design groups created a yacht that’s so innately Lamborghini, it’s hard to ignore!

The Tecnomar pulls inspiration directly from the Lamborghini Sián FKP 37’s design details (the two even feature together in the video). Outwardly, it’s pretty easy to draw parallels between a car and yacht, simply because they both need to be incredibly aerodynamic and streamlined, but the Tecnomar manages to do so much more to look the part (apart from the angular bodywork, of course). Take for instance the Y-shaped headlights, a detail that’s directly taken from Lamborghini’s playbook (remember the Terzo Millennio), or the zig-zag stepping on the rear of the yacht that’s inspired by the rear profile of the Aventador. The yacht even sports 3-bar taillights, a detail seen in most of Lamborghini’s racecars, and the hexagonal shape of the transparent paneling on its sides is a direct reference to the air-intakes found under the headlights of most modern-day Lambos. To top things off, the yacht even sports the same color schemes, although cooler hues like blue and green work better on water, while warmer tones like orange and yellow are more suited for land. It’s a remarkable replication of styles that really shows that Lamborghini’s brand of speed is truly universal, and can easily be carried anywhere!

The Tecnomar is a two-man yacht powered by two V12 – 2000HP engines that allows it to reach speeds of 60 knots. The interiors come with heavy Lamborghini influences too, including the cockpit that looks almost like you’re on a racetrack. There’s even that unmistakable “Start/Stop” button that you’d find in the Italian automotive company’s racecars! The ‘Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63’ (representing the company’s founding year in 1963) will be available from next year as a part of a limited edition run.

The world’s first 8-feet artificial wave generating pool to safely up your surfing game!

Feeling like hitting the waves? We don’t know when beaches will open but this controlled wave pool in Australia will be able to provide some relief to surfers while still being able to manage the crowds by keeping it to the recommended number of people as per social distancing guidelines. The interesting feature of this wave pool is that the generator creates waves in concentric circles that then radiate outwards. The idea for these concentric waves was conceived when Founder and CEO, Aaron Trevis, was tossing rocks into a lake with his children.

Surf Lakes is the world’s largest controlled wave pool famous for offering five different types of waves to their surfers! The pool generates 2000 waves per hour (so your week’s cardio is complete) thanks to the 5 Waves technology. It provides a safe space for surfers of all skill levels to practice and enjoy like they would in the ocean. It is as close to the real thing as you can get, the technology mimics the natural ocean groundswells resulting in waves that break over specially crafted reefs in sets of two or six per swell. Each pulse from the central generator can create 10 waves. To mimic the natural environment closely, each reef is distinctively shaped which allows the wave to crash and dissipate differently in terms of speeds, shapes, and sizes.

It has been the only facility to be able to generate an 8-feet tall wave artificially. The five different levels of waves all vary in difficulty, size, and length and are color-coded so beginner surfers through to moderate and advanced surfers can enjoy wave riding. Surf Lakes is working on making this technology available worldwide so that we can ride out this transition into the new normal!

This boat-mounted action-camera focuses on the surfer while they’re busy focusing on the waves

The Wave Catcher was designed to combine the best parts of a drone and a GoPro. The action camera basically packs a drone’s mechanical gimbal and object-tracking capabilities in a grounded, water-proof format that can be strapped to a speedboat’s Bimini top, or even to the side of the boat via suction. Wave Catcher’s innovation doesn’t, however, lie in its camera, but rather, lies in its wearable. Designed to be strapped around the wrist of the subject, the wearable acts as a beacon for the camera, constantly telling the lens to keep it in the frame. As a result, the Wave Catcher always has its subject in the frame, no matter what. This bracelet-tracking technology proves to be even more effective than facial-tracking, given that with waves, water splashes, and tonnes of sporting gear, it may not be entirely possible for the camera to efficiently keep an eye on its subject.

The Wave Catcher’s wearable also allows you to interface with the camera with a button that lets you alternate between photography and video. Designed specifically for water-sports, the action-camera gives you the best combination of features that makes it possible to capture the action without needing an extra cameraman. Its externally located gimbal and stabilization system (as opposed to the in-body stabilization found in most action cameras) gives the Wave Catcher a better edge over other action cameras by always keeping its subject in the frame… and the fact that it performs object detection using a wireless beacon bracelet makes it much more efficient than a drone… and with a much better battery life!

A 1950’s Porsche 356 inspired boat to evoke nostalgia!

The lovechild of an iconic automobile and a vintage boat; that’s the best way you could describe Nick Boats’ ‘Hermes Speedster’. Inspired by the 1959 Porsche 356 and the Gentleman’s Runabout boats from the 1930s, the Hermes Speedster is a classic boat in retro style amped with all of today’s technical marvels and features. Produced by a small family business in Greece, “Seven Sea Yachts”, the entire boat has been crafted by hand and with extreme love and care! Designed by the Greek architect Nicolas Politis, the hydrodynamic underwater hull fiercely resembles the Porsche 356 and the 1930’s Gentleman’s Runabout boats. The hull consists of seven layers, with the outer most layer comprising of vinyl ester resin. Made out of airtight compartments, the layers form a honeycomb structure, which provides firmness without increasing the weight of the structure. The boat is partly assembled on site, with the leather being stitched on there, and the screws being added onto the steering wheel, giving you the assurance of a perfectly finished boat!

The Hermes has been designed for perfect stability, enabling it to glide on the water effortlessly, whether you sail at maximum or minimum speed. Consuming 5.5 liters per hour, it has been voted “The most efficient production boat in the world”. The interiors have been handcrafted with complete attention to detail. Available in a variety of colors, and open to personal customization, it is a sleek beauty as it zooms across the ocean! The retractable convertible roof allows you to enjoy the splendid sun, as you lounge on the deck of the boat. With optimum space for five people, you can cruise around with your loved ones. Low water resistance enables the Speedster to have a smaller engine, however, the boat is still comparatively faster than most of its competitors on the market. Power-packed with a 72-degree access angle and innovative hull, the boat cuts through the water like a glaring knife! The latest technology and a beautiful vintage design have merged to form this iconic boat! Durable and stylish, it’s a must-have for all cruising enthusiasts.

Sutro’s floating pool-monitor lets you measure your pool’s alkalinity and chlorine levels

I imagine having a backyard pool is much more complicated than just pouring water into a pit. It needs to be periodically cleaned, chlorine-regulated, pH moderated, etc. Sutro’s Pool Monitor floats around your pool like a miniature buoy, keeping track of the water’s composition. It beams all this data right to your phone, allowing you to manage your pool efficiently. The floating monitor comes with a month-long battery life, and shares data to your phone, letting you know your pool’s pH level, chlorine level, and even the water’s temperature should you choose to use the Pool Monitor in a hot-tub. The Pool Monitor works even with pool-covers on, allowing you to use it throughout the year, and its partnership with a network of pool-maintenance companies lets you simply take charge of your pool by clicking a button to order the right materials and tools for your pools!

The Sealander trailer doubles as a boathouse too!

There are two ways to look at the Sealander Trailer/Boat. A. As a romantic getaway from land, and B. As an apocalypse-vehicle. Whether it’s wanderlust or the fact that rising sea-levels have practically swallowed civilizations, the Sealander is quite a convenient travel-accessory to have.

The Sealander is a 13-square-foot, 1,100-pound camper trailer combo that doubles up as a boat too, with the ability to travel at a cool 5 miles per hour in regular waters (it clearly isn’t meant for high-tides). With a fiberglass-reinforced plastic body, the Sealander is particularly light and strong, working well both on land as well as water, and the inner space comes with a table and bench that can be tucked away to turn the inner space into a reclining area that takes full advantage of the foldable roof to let you gaze at the sunset, and then the stars thereafter. If you’re looking to spend a day or two on the Sealander, it comes with wide set of optional accessories, like a kitchenette (as well as an outdoor grill), a fresh-water toilet, and even an on-board shower. Perfect for a getaway, romantic or otherwise!

Hey Hollywood, the Aquada can drive on land and sail on water…

It’s 2018, and while the original promise was to have flying cars by now, I guess we could just settle for the next best thing. Sailing cars. The makers of amphibian automobiles, Gibbs, have put together the Aquada, a project that looks truly like a car you’d expect to see on the road, but don’t be surprised if it drives off the pier, because the Aquada, as its name may have already told you, can ride the tide.

Given the title of the world’s first High-Speed Amphibian (HSA), the Aquada can hits speeds of 100mph on land, and 30mph on water. With relatively automobile-shaped design, the Aquada comes in a three-seater design (putting the driver right in the center so that the weight is distributed evenly) and is made in the convertible format, skipping the doors for obvious reasons. You wouldn’t want water creeping in because you forgot to shut the door tightly, would you? The Aquada treats the base of the car slightly differently, indicating its unique function. With a hull on the lower half of the vehicle, the Aquada is literally half boat, half car. The car uses a V6 engine with 176 horsepower and a rear-wheel drive on land. However, just drive it into the water and Gibbs’ proprietary suspension causes the wheels to retract inwards while the HSA water jet kicks in to boost your car on water as would a motorboat. In fact, you use the same steering wheel to maneuver it on water too, making the Aquada literally an amphibian.

I imagine the Aquada has a rather niche audience, but if you’re the kind to love your fishing trips, maybe ditch the boat and trailer arrangement and just directly drive your ride into the water. Aside from water-sports, the Aquada could also be used in flood-prone areas too (it has enough power to tow a water skier). Or better still, in a Hollywood action flick where Vin Diesel literally drives the car into the water to save the city of Prague from being hit by a submarine carrying nerve gas missiles.
