This temperature-controlled dog bed makes sleep experience healthier and more comforting

As pet owners, we understand the struggles of ensuring our furry friends get the quality sleep they need. Dogs, with their higher body temperatures and limited ways to regulate heat, often face challenges during their slumber. Enter Sleep.p – a conceptual solution to make your dog’s sleep experience healthier and more comforting.

Sleep.p is a purpose-built haven for dogs that struggle to regulate body temperature while sleeping. Its innovative temperature regulation system, equipped with a heating plate comprising a built-in heating element, allows pet owners to customize temperature settings, catering to individual dog needs.

Designer:  YU ID

The science behind Sleep.p is fascinating: Dogs lack sweat glands, except for those located on their paw pads, which limits their ability to regulate body temperature efficiently. Often, they resort to panting, which becomes challenging during sleep. This inadequacy can disrupt their resting patterns and, consequently, affect their overall health and well-being.

Whether your furry friend prefers a warm spot during cold nights or a cooler setting in warmer weather, Sleep.p adapts effortlessly to ensure optimal comfort. Additionally, the bed is designed to fit seamlessly into your home’s interior, providing not just functionality but also aesthetic appeal.

The bed’s adaptable design caters to dogs of various sizes, from small to large breeds. Its construction, featuring six plates that fold up like a yoga mat, allows for easy transport. When rolled out halfway, it creates a sheltered, personal space for your pet – a place that helps in addressing behavioral concerns as well. It’s engineered to ease separation anxiety by providing a secure, enclosed space. This sense of personal sanctuary encourages better sleep and relaxation, fostering a healthier state of mind for your dog.

Add to this the convenience of being able to control the Sleep.p using a mobile app or remote control. It enables a pet parent to manage the bed’s settings from a distance, whether you’re outside the house or inside (where you can even use onboard controls for the same). More than just a pet bed, the Sleep.p is a thoughtful and comprehensive solution designed to upgrade the well-being and lifestyle of your four-legged family member.

This pet carrier that doubles as a bed is a cozy burrow your pal’s bound to find comforting

Little pals in our life deserve the best health and world of exposure. As concerned parents, we leave no stone unturned to ensure the same within the four walls. However, it is always not the same outside.

Traveling with pets – whether to the veterinarian or on a flight overseas – is not a comfortable experience, especially if you don’t have a pet that’s friendly with her carrier bag. Now, either you can step up your game and train the pup to enjoy the safe confines of a pet carrier, or even better, get her a carrier she would love to burrow in.

Designer: Olga Orsel

There is a plethora of options on the market that vouch to be convenient to carry and comfy for the most restless pets. When it comes down to choosing one for our needs, we must consider safety, convenience, and aesthetics primarily.

Because there are so many variables, I’m sure, you would have gone pillar to post in search of a pet carrier that checks these boxes. Not sure about your outcome; but if someday I want a carrier, it ought to be somewhere around the concept of the Burrow.

Burrow for one ousts the regular bag appearance and those sharp-edge cage aesthetics for a pleasing design with safe corners. The functional design has a convenient push-button door and comes padded with a removable mattress for the pet to cozy up in. The walls are safe and well-ventilated. Ventilation is enhanced by a mesh door that would let the little pal peek outside and breathe fresh.

What really makes the Burrow pet carrier stand out for me is its detachable design. It is built in two sections: the top and bottom being separable. The sections are enclosed with loop and hook closure which makes it easy to clip and clip off. When torn seperate, the base of the pet carrier doubles as a bed.

This idea not only renders the Burrow multipurpose; it also adds exceptionally to the carrier’s space-saving antics, which is generally a concern with traditional pet carriers. Offered in four colors, Burrow allows pet owners to personalize it courtesy of a silicon dog tag attached to the handle of the carrier. The convenient handle makes the Burrow similar to a basket so it is effortless to carry about.

Doze side table lets your dog stay beside you while you work

While most dog owners would probably love to just play with their fur babies all day, most of them have to do some work at certain times during the day. If you work at home, then most likely your dog will park itself beside you while you work. It would be nice if they had a pretty nice spot beside you that will make them feel comfortable and at the same time will be of some use to you as well. There are a lot of pet furniture out there but this one says it is a home furniture that can serve as a bed for your dog.

Designer: Ashleigh Davies

Doze is a side table where you can put some of your stuff while working, like a notebook or the cup of coffee or glass of wine to energize you or just some pieces of decoration. The space for your stuff is actually a removable tray that you can attach or remove. It’s also not a full tray and more like a piece of wood so it would be hard to put a lot of things on top of it. The entire side table is mostly made from plywood so there is a sustainable aspect to it.

The important part of this furniture though is the semi-enclosed space that is made for your pet dog. Whether they just want to rest in it or play on their own while keeping a close eye on you while you work, the dog bed seems to be pretty comfortable. It has a customizable bed cover that is made from hypoallergenic memory foam so it is both comfy and also good for their joints and bones. Memory foam is known to distribute the user’s weight and remember their shape.

The side table that is also a dog bed benefits both the pet and the owner. For those times when you can’t hold them or let them stay beside you physically, this is the next best thing. Hopefully it will also help you in your productivity and not make you want to doze off yourself when you see your dog comfortably napping in their bed.

Plufl: A Dog Bed for Humans

Presumably a little drunk and inspired by how comfortable a dog bed looked at the time, University of British Columbia students Noah Silverman and Yuki Kinoshita developed the Plufl, a giant dog-style bed intended for human use. Alternatively, just buy an x-large dog bed and curl up in that. Just don’t be surprised if the cat beats you to it and swats at you whenever you come near.

The $399 Plufl is currently an already funded Kickstarter project, and Noah and Yuki say they engineered the bed “to provide the optimal napping experience” and “maximize comfort and foster a sense of security, delivering relief for those who have ADHD, stress, and anxiety-related issues.” I’m pretty sure that covers everybody. Like a security blanket… in a dog bed. See how I tied all that together? I didn’t briefly consider going to journalism school for nothing.

Admittedly, it does look comfy – but $400? That’s an awful lot of money just to constantly try to explain to my dog that the dog bed that looks like it’s for her is actually for me. Eventually, I’ll give up because she’s just too cute and return to sleeping on the sofa while she sleeps in my Plufl – probably with my pillow too.

This sleek modern pet furniture collection ditches fluff for a stylish blend of comfort and aesthetics!

This line of modern pet furniture from Nicolas Cunsolo features a dog bed, food bowl carrier, and a small toy for your dog to get a day’s worth of fun and relaxation.

Pet furniture tends to embrace fluff over modernity. It makes sense–dogs love the fluff. If they didn’t, our couches would still be intact. But the fluffier the dog bed, the less likely it is to fit in our homes.

Modern dog bed designs have come a long way from prioritizing comfort over versatility. Argentinian industrial designer Nicolas Cunsolo created a line of pet furniture for the modern home that maximizes comfort but doesn’t skimp out on aesthetics.

Cunsolo’s modern pet furniture is constructed with a wooden frame that props up a taut, yet plush cushion where your pup can rest. Designed with a curved base, the collection’s dog bed provides a slight overhang for your dog while they’re resting on the cushion. The pet furniture designed by Cunsolo is made of different materials to provide a flexible, yet rigid feel for the dog bed.

In addition to the dog bed, Cunsolo’s furniture collection comes with a water and food bowl station, composed of a wooden frame with two circular frames that keep bowls in place for your pup to eat and drink from.

The water and food bowl frame also has a wooden build, keeping a dark wood stain and polished look to appeal to more modern kitchens.

When dogs eat and drink from the frame’s bowls, a sliding mechanism angles them to meet your dog’s mouth. The raised platform and sliding mechanism make the bowl frame ideal for aging dogs who have trouble outstretching their necks.

Cunsolo also designed a small toy for dogs to play with that keeps a similar profile to the collection’s dog bed, echoing its curved and taut design. Dogs can play with the collection’s toy for a while, drink water from the raised bowl afterward until they find a bit of respite in the furniture line’s modern dog bed.

Designer: Nicolas Cunsolo

From pouncing around with the toy, to a much-needed water break, and finally a power nap, this collection has a little bit of everything.

Conceptualized in three different styles, the dog toy won’t look out of place in the living room.

Clean lines and an overall curved design offers a modern appeal to this collection of pet furniture.

Your dog’s personality, determined by psychology, will dictate the best bed for them!

Our homes reflect our personal style. The color scheme of our bedding, the way we organize our office space – it all tells the story of our personality. So, what about our dogs? I bet that few would deny that every dog has a distinct personality, which means they should have a dog house that’s representative of their story. Hyemin Kim has created MUF, a dog house inspired by the Myers-Briggs Test Indicator (MBTI), for that reason.

MUF is more of a curatorial experience for you and your pup. Inspired by the MBTI, which is a lengthy introspective test that indicates different tendencies in regard to test-takers’ personalities. For example, I am an INFP, indicating introversion, intuition, feeling, and perceiving, which ultimately reveals how I interact with everyday life and decision making. Hyemin Kim, the designer behind MUF, created her own doggo-inspired MBTI system that comprises different personality traits for different dogs. A total of eight possible traits, any combination of which can be applied to your own dog, make up Hyemin Kim’s MBTI for dogs, and a piece of dog furniture is associated with each personality type. Then, those specific pieces of furniture can be incorporated into and around your dog’s house, adding to the base cushion, which sits atop a durable, iron bed frame. Pretty soon, we’ll all be asking each other, “So, what’s your dog’s personality type?”

Designer: Hyemin Kim

all

The Different Types

IPT Type – Independent, Timid Type

For example, if your dog is more independent and timid, then a sturdy, secure traditional roof attachment can be attached to the iron frame that cradles the main dog bed so that your dog can retreat to and enjoy their time in their own enclosed space. Additionally, to cater to your dog’s more timid personality, a brown body pillow fits snugly into the full dog house for added warmth and comfort.

BPL Type – Brilliant, Playful, Loyal Type

More personality combinations, such as brilliant, playful, and loyal can be applied to your pup’s daily mood and the dog bed can be transformed to meet the more dynamic sides of your dog’s temperament. A weighty, leathery green throw represents the brilliant type so your dog can exercise their brain for different modes of play. Then, a vibrant, buttery yellow cushion stands in to absorb all of your pup’s playful energy. Lastly, a navy blue, firm pillow refines the scene to offer your pup that reliable place to rest after day-long bursts of energy.

DAC Type – Dependent, Active, Curious Type

Another possible configuration for your pup’s personality can be the dependent, active, and curious type. Dependency is represented in the sky blue, linen blanket throw. The active mind can be tested and stimulated with the red block’s fun features such as ropes to tug on and knots to chew. Your dog’s curiosity can then be funneled through the denim blue nose work mat, which comes equipped with more ropes and twisted, folded-over bunches of fabric for your pup to unlock and tug as long as they please. Once they grow tired of sniffing and munching on all the doggo-safe fabric pockets and roped links, then owners can toss the sky blue throw over their sleeping pups for long nights of good sleep.

This Smart Pet Care Robot keeps your floor clean while feeding and playing with your dog!

I trust that I’m not far off in assuming that many of us have considered adopting a pet at least once during the quarantine. But they can be a lot of work and sometimes we bite off more than we can chew. Some pet owners have busy schedules and work their pet’s needs around them, or others might seek out help from a professional dog sitter. Whatever the case may be, Taeuk Ham was awarded the Silver A’Design for his design, Puro, the pet care robot, in order to lighten the load.

Puro is a multi-functional, autonomous robot that does…a lot. It implements three distinct modes: play, clean, and air purification. In ‘play’ mode, Puro tosses dog treats when your pet is left alone in order to help alleviate some of your dog’s anxiety. Once the treat is tossed and your pup is munching, Puro enters ‘clean’ mode and vacuums over any fallen crumbs. From there, Puro operates as an air purifier to neutralize odors and suck in loose hairs or strands of fur. One of the many features that come with Puro is the smart cleaning function. Similar to the smart robot vacuum, Puro meanders around your floor in order to collect dust, dirt, hairs, and fur, avoiding your pup and other household items along the way.

Moreover, while you’re away, Puro extends its fully-integrated dog-feeding station and also tosses treats in your pup’s direction with help from an implanted camera that maps out the floor and a gyroscopic sensor that tracks angular velocity throughout any given room. This ensures that, even when you aren’t home, your pet’s eating schedule isn’t compromised. Another aspect that distinguishes this design from other smart robot vacuums is the embedded air-purifier that operates with an incorporated air filter located in the machine’s charging station. Once Puro has completed its cleaning of the living room and feeding your pet their lunch or dinner, the vacuum slinks its way into the main charging station to turn the air-purifying function on, which cools down the top, cushioned layer of Puro that doubles as a dog bed.

While Puro certainly maintains an eating schedule for your animal friend and cleans up their space for you, you can still take your dog for nice, long walks come evening time and develop that special, close bond during the hours you’re home from work. Furthermore, if you live alone and find yourself cutting corners and speeding around the clock to keep your dog’s eating on schedule, then Puro certainly takes some of that pressure from your shoulders. Having a pet takes responsibility and while Puro, or any other robot, can’t replace that close kinship we feel towards animals, it can help preserve a certain degree of trust between you and your puppy.
