Retro TV Smartphone Magnifier: iBoobTube

Transform your smartphone into an old school television set with this whimsical gadget from Firebox. The Smartphone Magnifier holds your phone inside of a faux wood television cabinet, and makes it look like your grandparent’s old boob tube.

It magnifier is designed specifically to distort the image on its 8″ screen. You’ll just need to find an app that can superimpose scan lines on your videos to complete the retro effect. I love how the smartphone holder looks like an old VHS tape.

The only downside to this thing is that it appears to be constructed from cardboard. For $26, I was hoping it might be made from something more durable. Maybe someone on Etsy or Instructables will make a version from wood and plastic.

Hatching Dinosaur Candle: Phoenix Raptor

We’ve seen Pokéball soaps and bath bombs with toys hidden inside them. Firebox came up with a similar gimmick, but with a candle and an actual, albeit, extinct animal.

The Hatching Dinosaur Candle measures about 5.5″x 5.5″x 6.2″. As it burns, it will reveal a porcelain figurine of a baby velociraptor. The raptor will be covered with soot as the candle continues to waste away, but you can easily wipe the little fella clean.

SNES and Game Boy Cartridge Soaps: In Bathroom, Cartridge Clean You

Firebox has a special offering to gamers in the UK who grew up in the 80s. The store is selling soaps that look just like the cartridges of Nintendo’s classic consoles, the SNES and the Game Boy. They even have cover art on them, although it looks like those are just made of paper and will quickly melt off the soaps.

The SNES cartridge soaps include Super Mario Kart and A Link to the Past, while the Game Boy soaps include Tetris, Earthworm Jim and Pokémon Red and Blue. The latter are even in their respective colored cases.

Firebox is selling the Game Boy cartridge soaps for £7 (~$12 USD) each, while the SNES cartridge soaps cost £13 (approx. $21). If you’re not from the UK, check out the famous Etsy shop Digitalsoaps. In fact I wouldn’t be surprised if Firebox gets its stock from Digitalsoaps.
