Dock Your Nintendo Switch in the World of Animal Crossing

The game Animal Crossing: New Horizons is all the rage with Nintendo Switch players these days. If you’re a fan of the series, then here’s a cool way to store and display your game system.

Etsy artist Violet Senpai makes these awesome 3D-printed Animal Crossing island docks, which have been lovingly painted to look like they came right out of the popular world-building game, and look great alongside your Amiibo characters too. It offer a cozy, padded spot for your switch behind its puffy trees, and includes a connector cable to link from the back of the island to the standard Switch dock.

They come in color schemes for winter, spring, summer, and fall, as well as one with all Sakura trees. Violet says she can customize the paint colors and do things like turn the apples into peaches, she’s happy to do that too. The dock is available on the Senpai3D Etsy shop for $115.

Stained Glass TIE Fighter Lamp: The Empire Lights Up

One of the more satisfying sights in the original Star Wars trilogy was watching Imperial TIE fighters get blown to smithereens by the Rebellion. But this awesome stained glass TIE fighter lamp is one that I’d never want to see in pieces.

This beautiful work of Star Wars fan art was handmade by Russian glass studio V&G Fantasy. It looks just like the TIE fighters flown by the empire, with those iconic flat wings, and round cockpit at its center. The pendant-style ceiling lamp is made from glass steel, and copper, and looks like it’s ready to do battle with some X-Wing lamps if they existed. I particularly love the blue glow that emanates from its interior. All it needs is some kind of laser cannons and it would be perfect. Maybe you could rig some laser pointers up to it for added effect.

The finished piece measures about 18.8″ x 10″ x 8.8″, and is designed to run on a 220-volt power source, so you might need to buy a converter if you plan on using it here in the States. All this awesomeness doesn’t come cheap though, with this one-of-a-kind TIE fighter lamp selling for $750 over on Etsy. Of course, if you work for the Empire, you probably have a pretty good sized expense account for this kind of thing.

This Jumbo Snorlax Lounger Will Lull You to Sleep… and Steal Your Wallet

Do you have trouble getting to sleep? No luck with Melatonin or Ambien? Well, here’s something that will surely get you some shut-eye – a gigantic Snorlax sleep lounger.

Created lovingly by Knot Again by Amina, this handmade Snorlax bed (aka the “Sleeping Monster”) is sure to lull to sleep anyone who dares to lay on its inviting and rotund belly. For shipping purposes, the monster comes unstuffed, but Amina will provide instructions for stuffing your Snorlax locally. That’s sure to be a process that’s more involved than your Thanksgiving turkey.

This amazing creation is the perfect living room addition for any Pokémon fan with deep pockets. I’ve got the first part covered, but sadly, $3500 is a bit above my pay grade when it comes to my collection of geeky wonders.

Stargate Lamps Open a Portal to Another World on Your Desk

Do you want to travel to strange and exotic places across the universe? Then you need something more than your mom’s old station wagon to get you around. What you need is some kind of transportation portal. While Rick and Morty’s portal gun would be my personal preference due to its portability, a Stargate should do the trick.

These sweet accent lamp come from Etsy seller CraftyPics, who makes both a Stargate Atlantis version and a Stargate SG-1 model.

They’re substantial too, measuring in at over 9″ tall. Each one is made from a combination of laser cut and engraved wood, along with an acrylic diffuser in the middle, illuminated by a circle of electric blue LEDs. I just love that ripple effect the light and texture create. They also have LEDs to light up the chevrons around the perimeter.

Each lamp costs about $92 USD based on current exchange rates, and is made to order, plus it ships from the UK, so it could take as much as a month to get yours. So if you want to give one as a gift for the holidays, there’s no better time to order. Drop by the CraftyPics shop to spin up your own personal Stargate today.

These Creepy Purses Have Got Their Eye on You

There are monsters all around us, and they’re hiding in plain sight. It looks like some of them even like hanging out in the women’s accessories department now.

These awesomely creative and creepy clutch purses come from the mind of Breanne of Creature Clutches and The Geekstress. Each one is handmade, and features a single eyeball peering out from beneath its fabric shell. While I dig the big dragon’s eye, the monster ones with the teeth sticking out are my favorites.

We’ve been assured no actual monsters were harmed in the making of these bags. The eyeballs are made from hand-painted glass, while the teeth are made from shells.

You can currently find a few of these clutches over on Breanne’s Etsy shop, with prices ranging from $35 to $75. She also makes some nifty monster dice bags for tabletop RPG fans. Thanks to Technabob friend Mike for the heads up on these amazing creations.

Interrogator Cyberpunk Cosplay Helmet Is Seriously Badass

Halloween is just around the corner, and if you’re looking to win every costume party in town, you should head over to Two Horns United’s Etsy shop, and check out their incredible collection of custom-built helmets, costumes, and cosplay accessories.

One of my favorites is this amazing piece of headgear, dubbed “The Interrogator.”

I also might call it “The Intimidator,” because if you saw someone coming at you with this thing on, you’d assume that we’d been invaded by aliens, and they’re coming for us all. Seriously, this thing looks like it just walked over from the set of a Neill Blomkamp movie.

The helmet was handcrafted from EVA foam, but the artist did a great job painting all the pieces to make them look like weathered metal. The foam construction means it’s lightweight and comfortable to wear. I also love the LED lighting effects – those really help to bring the character to life.

If you’ve got $1150 to spend on the ultimate costume, head on over to Etsy now. While you’re there, be sure to check out the rest of Two Horns United’s other amazing designs.

We Relish This Hot Dog Coffee Table

We just passed National Hot Dog Day, but it’s never too late to get yourself some delicious frankfurters. Now, thanks to the guys at Idiot Box Artwork, you can enjoy a hot dog in your living room every day of the year.

This amusing and appetizing coffee table features a cartoony image of a gigantic hot dog on its surface. Each one cut into the shape of a hot dog on a bun, hand-painted with the ballpark meal on its surface, then sealed with thick coats of resin to make it smooth and shiny. I prefer mustard and relish on my hot dogs, but mustard and resin will have to do if you buy this table.

The Hot Dog! It’s a Coffee Table sells for $700 over at the Idiot Box website, where you can also find Super Mario, Kool-Aid, and Pickle Rick coffee tables.

This DIY Sound Bar Looks Better Than Any Off-the-shelf Model

Most of the soundbars you can buy just look like a big black bar. Instructables user and engineer ralf_k wanted a modern looking soundbar that didn’t look all cheap and plasticky, so he made one of his own. The end result is this lovely plywood and MDF sound bar.

I just love the look of this soundbar. It’s classy. It has two tweeters, two woofers, two amplifiers, four passive radiators, and a programmable Digital Signal Processor (DSP). It also has 2-way crossovers, custom EQs, and a dynamic bass boost. I bet this thing sounds as amazing as it looks. You can check out a time-lapse video of the build below:

If you’d like a soundbar that doesn’t look like every other one that’s on the market too, he shared his build process with the Internet on his Instructables page. You’re going to love how it looks. If you have the time, skills and the tools to build this, it is a great project. When you are finished you’ll have a kick-ass and beautiful soundbar.

Pac-Man LEGO Lamps: Bricka Bricka Bricka

Out of all of the good old 1980s arcade games, Pac-Man is one that truly stands out, with its simple looking but challenging gameplay, iconic characters, and memorable music and sounds, it’s a true masterwork of arcade gaming that’s still fun to play. I’ve got a few Pac-Man collectibles in my game room, but I’d really love to have one of these lamps, made from LEGO bricks.

Artist Jamieson Pond of Pugs and Bricks builds these lamps from thousands of painstakingly selected LEGO blocks to form pixel art versions of the Pac-Man and the ghosts from the classic arcade game. The larger Pac-Man lamp was made using over 4,000 pieces, and includes LED backlit LEGO likenesses of Pac-Man, Inky, Blinky, Clyde and a blue ghost. I’m not sure what the deal is with the green ghost though. Guess we’ll just have to call him “Greeny.” Priced at $800, it’s not cheap, but it sure looks cool.

The smaller Pac-Man lamp took 1,000 pieces to construct, though it’s still pricey at $195. But if you’re a true Pac-Man fanatic, I’m sure you can find a way to save up for one of these nifty lights.

I think the coolest of the designs is the 2,300 piece, 12″ tall Pac-Man nightlight tower, which is packed with (properly-colored) ghosts on every side, and Pac-Man on top. It’s $425.

Whether or not you decide to buy one of these sweet lamps, be sure to check out Pugs and Bricks Etsy shop, which is packed with cool LEGO mosaic geekery, including an epic Super Mario tower light that stands nearly 3 feet tall.
