The strongest fleece on the planet will get tougher as it’s colder, protecting you from -179°C cryogenic cold

If you’re planning a trip to space anytime soon, you probably need a super strong jacket that can withstand the cold to wherever you may go. I mean of course, you’ll be wearing a spacesuit but what if one day we’ll be able to hang out on the surface of a planet without needing that? You’ll still probably need a jacket, for example, if we can someday live in Saturn since Titan, their largest moon, is cold. Like cryogenic level cold. We’re still years, maybe decades or a century away from living elsewhere but people who live in really cold parts of the world need a pretty good and durable jacket.

Designer: Volleback

The Titan Fleece jacket claims to be one of if not the strongest in the world, not just in protecting you from the cold but also some conditions that may cause damage or abrasions to your jacket. A fleece jacket is normally pretty easy to rip or shred, even though it is pretty warm and comfortable. So they needed to add some other materials to make it stronger, like the fiber Dyneema, a material normally found on the side of tanks, and reinforced with a material made from high-tenacity nylon and is waterproof, lightweight, and triple-layered.

While it is the “world’s toughest fibre”, Dyneema isn’t the softest or cuddliest. So they had to heat, stretch, and break the material over and over until it became thin enough and then they spun it with polyester and elastane. The result is a honeycomb structure that is 3-dimensional and looks like it came from outer space. The jacket then becomes futuristic-looking with its textured look with the fleece, Dyneem, and nylon all bringing comfort and protection not just from the cold but from abrasions, extreme weather conditions, scratches, etc.

The Titan Fleece jacket also has a magnetic mechanism in the zipper that will let you open and close it easily even when you’re wearing thick gloves. It even has a pull cord that lets you do it up if you just have one hand free. There are also pockets all over the jacket, some oversized, so you can keep things in it and they have water resistant zippers and metal snap fasteners. This is basically a jacket that you can wear while climbing a mountain during winter and when someday we’ll be able to go to Titan and/or Saturn.

This futuristic hoodie is weather adaptive, abrasion-proof, and comes with a set of modular accessories

Why carry a backpack on your shoulders when you could just snap a bag to your hoodie? The Ultra Hoodie quite literally does that, with a magnetic M-System plug that lets you quickly attach messenger bags, pouches, and other accessories directly to the hoodie, sort of like giving yourself extra pockets. If that wasn’t cool enough, the Ultra Hoodie is also water resistant with DWR and abrasion-proof, comes with dedicated pockets for your belongings, built-in AirPods holders, and a tiny window that lets you look at your smartwatch without having to lift your sleeves up. It’s also simultaneously breathable and stretchable, allowing you to be as comfortable and free as you would in a regular hoodie, and it comes in the most badass color on the planet – jet black.

Designer: William Chen

The patent-pending Ultra Hoodie quite literally propels the most comfortable piece of clothing into the future. While most hoodies were designed for casual comfort, the Ultra Hoodie combines comfort with performance, versatility, and durability. At first glance, it might look just like a regular (albeit classy) hoodie, but look closer and you’ll realize how much there is to unpack.

The hoodie comes made from a high-gauge weaving structure with a dedicated internal membrane that makes it incredibly resilient to wind and rain, while still being up to 5 times more breathable than your average jacket. An inner fleece lining keeps you warm without making you sweaty, and creates a comfortable environment that only a hoodie can.

The Ultra Hoodie, however, isn’t just designed for comfort. Its fabric has 360° stretchability, making the Ultra Hoodie perfect for the great outdoors. It’s also abrasion-resistant, so you can wear it just about anywhere without worrying about it getting damaged, and has reflective strips on the back, increasing visibility and safety.

Hidden Card Slot

Phone Pocket

Watch Window

The Ultra Hoodie also comes with a few functional upgrades designed to help you effectively adapt to different situations. It has an abundance of pockets, including hidden slots on the sleeve to store your phone, cash, or cards. A water bottle pocket beside the ribs lets you easily carry a bottle or umbrella, and a towel loop on the back is perfect for storing a rolled-up napkin or sweat towel while working out.

The hoodie also has an adjustable hood with pull-strings that also double up as holders for AirPods. Want to wear your AirPods with your head covered? The hoodie comes with passthrough vents that let you fit in your earbuds THROUGH the hood.

Perhaps the most impressive feature the Ultra Hoodie sports is its versatile M-System modular design. The M-System is a magnetic modular interface that allows you to snap a host of extra modules and accessories to the hoodie. These accessories include the M-System Pack, a messenger-style waterproof bag that basically attaches to your torso, eliminating the need for straps.

The M-System Pack works almost like an extension of your hoodie, giving you an extra set of waterproof zippers to carry extra belongings, and just in case you want to use it without the hoodie, there is a detachable strap too that allows you to wear the pack as a side-sling or cross-body bag. Other accessories include a name-tag, which slips right into the base of the jacket right near your hip, where you’d attach your retractable lanyard anyway, and a polygonal hat, which just acts as a rather cool accessory when you’re trying to nail the Heisenberg look.

What the Ultra Hoodie really does is expand the capabilities of an otherwise rather commonplace piece of clothing that people usually wear for days at an end because it’s just comfortable. In its renewed avatar, the hoodie 2.0 if you will, the Ultra Hoodie becomes the kind of apparel you can wear everyday and everywhere, thanks to a series of rather functional upgrades. The stretchable, breathable, high-performance fabric is perfect for practically any demanding outdoor scenario, and the pockets, features, and accessories that accompany the Ultra Hoodie make it perfect for the everyday urban warrior!

Quanta Vici jackets and gloves let you choose how warm you want to be

You no longer have to be stuck between hot and cold with this range of fashionable smart thermal clothing that lets you pick your preferred toasty temperature.

You might debate the actual causes, but it’s hard to argue that the weather has been pretty irregular and out of sync in the past years. Seasons extend beyond their normal dates, and temperatures can go to extremes. For those that have to deal with cold weather, be it by force or by recreational choice, the selection of clothing to keep them from freezing to death is wide but shallow. There isn’t much flexibility in how you are able to keep warm, and you’ll mostly have to either pile up more layers or take them off, depending on how you feel. We are living in a smart, tech-centric world, however, so there’s little reason why our winter clothes have to stay that way. Thankfully, someone did finally put two and two together to create a line of thermal clothing that isn’t just smart but also guilt-free.

Designer: Adrien Beyk of Quanta Vici

Click Here to Buy Now: $189 $410 (54% off). Hurry, less than 48 hours left!

Winter wear is mostly designed to trap your own body heat to keep you warm, and that’s pretty much it. If the cold becomes too much to bear, all you can do is wear more layers to the point that you become an immovable pin cushion. You can’t really go anywhere in between, much less opt for a slightly “chill” temperature if you’re the type that likes a tiny bit of cold. Heaters and thermostats can do that for rooms and cars, but not for clothing, at least until now.

Quanta Vici’s new thermal clothing lineup brings that freedom and flexibility to thermal jackets, vests, and gloves. You can actually select on your smartphone how warm you want to feel or how cold you want to be. Better yet, the built-in thermostat from the “Smart” range can automatically do that for you, detecting the temperature inside the clothing in order to maintain that perfect level that you chose.

Although these features may sound geeky, Quanta Vici’s apparel looks anything but. In fact, the jackets and especially the gloves look completely fashionable, something that wouldn’t look out of place on a catwalk. The gloves, in particular, make use of animal-free vegan-friendly leather, so you don’t have to feel guilty about wearing such a luxurious-looking accessory. It’s also friendly to your phone’s touch screen, so you don’t have to worry about freezing your finger off just to use your device.

Both the slim jacket and the vest, which come in different styles for guys and gals, are made from recycled polyester, continuing that theme of sustainability. Even the zippers are recycled, so you can enjoy the warmth that the smart jackets give while also feeling good about your positive impact on the environment. The clothing is washable, but you’ll have to remember to remove the battery first before you do.

The Quanta Vici smart thermal clothing line is exclusive to Kickstarter and starts at $149 for the “base” range, while the “smart” line with the built-in thermostat starts at $179. But with this one-time Kickstarter-exclusive flash sale, you can get any single Smart product, be it the jacket, vest, or glove, for only $159.

Elegant, effective, and environment-friendly, Quanta Vici’s smart heated slim jackets and leather gloves demonstrate the true meaning of wearables without going overboard on the tech.

Thermostat-embedded clothes can regulate their temperature to make you feel warm in the winters

We’ve got advanced heating systems in our homes and cars… now we’ve got them in our clothes. Meet the Quanta Vici, a collection of smart winter-wear that actually heats up to the exact temperature you choose!

Created by designers and engineers who’ve worked across companies like Ralph Lauren, BMW, and Adidas, Quanta Vici’s collection of smart heated clothes (which previously comprised gloves and socks) is now expanding to also include slim vests and jackets made from the company’s signature smart-fabric. The smart fabric used in the apparel is deceptively thin and breathable too, yet the smart yarn comes with the ability to warm up to a temperature of your choice, helping you stay toasty even when you’re out in the snow. To top it all off, Quanta Vici’s collection now also comes in vegan leather and recycled, vegan-friendly materials, making the apparel line both smart and 100% cruelty-free.

Warm winter clothes are merely designed to capture and trap body heat… not generate heat. Quanta Vici’s smart thermal-wear, on the other hand, has the ability to warm you up to a toasty 130°F, with an app that lets you adjust the temperature to your liking. Much like a thermostat helps you adjust the temperature of your home or car’s interiors, Quanta Vici gives you the same feature right within your clothes. With a range spanning touchscreen-friendly gloves, a full-body jacket, and a sleeveless jacket/vest, Quanta Vici’s smart thermal clothes are app-controlled and give you the ability to not just regulate the temperature but also select specific zones to heat up. The clothes come with detachable battery packs that have a battery life of over two days, and fast-charge via USB-C.

This unique smart heating feature sets the Quanta Vici apart from regular winter-wear. While the traditional way of ‘warming up’ was to just wear more layers, Quanta Vici’s clothes let you just select a temperature of your choice from an app, and the clothes do the rest. Their gloves are made from vegan leather with touchscreen-friendly tips, and are designed with a slim, removable battery that fits right into the wrist, powering the smart-clothes. The company’s now even added jackets to the mix, in both sleeved and sleeveless options.

The sleeveless Smart Vest comes in masculine and feminine styles with an abundance of pockets, is designed to be entirely weather and waterproof, has a gold-insulated inner lining, and gives you the choice of heating the front and/or the back of your torso. The full-sleeve jacket also sports masculine and feminine styles, with a recycled polyester outer fabric. The jacket features 6 hidden travel-ready pockets, and has the same heat-zone selection ability as its sleeveless counterpart. Both the sleeveless and sleeved jackets are made from recycled polyester, and can be washed once you remove the battery pack.

A signature quality of Quanta Vici’s new range is its incorporation of sustainability into smart fashion. The jackets and gloves both now use vegan-friendly outer materials that look and feel luxurious, and are then followed by an inner down-comparable PrimaLoft fiber layer made from post-consumer recycled polyester plastic, designed to trap heat naturally. The material used in Quanta Vici’s zippers are recycled too, and the garments are all designed in a way that makes them easy to upcycle after their life is over.

Quanta Vici’s latest line, which is exclusively limited to Kickstarter for now, starts off at $149 with a base range, which features the app-based heating capabilities, but also includes a ‘smart’ range starting at $179, which includes a built-in thermostat that regulates the heating to maintain the temperature you set on the app. The smart-apparel lets you choose between 4 sizes and ships with a 1-year guarantee.

Not enough pockets to carry your stuff? This outdoor jacket can instantly transform into a 35L backpack

Offering more space than all the pockets on your regular jacket combined, the JackBag is an outdoor jacket that flips inwards, shapeshifting into a 35L backpack on demand. It’s also waterproof, breathable, and comes with 14 different pockets for good measure. Talk about being a Jack(Bag) of all trades!

The JackBag serves a unique set of purposes – It’s a clever piece of hybrid fashion that’s convenient for when you want a bag or a jacket and you couldn’t remember to carry them. Nobody likes carrying an empty bag for the heck of it, and nobody likes wearing a jacket when the weather doesn’t demand it, so in its own inimitable way, the JackBag cleverly hits two birds with one stone. Transform it into a backpack when it’s hot, unfurl it into a jacket when it’s raining or cold, the JackBag’s shapeshifting nature is perfectly useful, even though its design brief sounds funny when you first hear it. If you asked me yesterday whether a jacket that turned into a backpack was a good idea, I’d think you were joking. Today, however, after seeing the JackBag, I can’t help but think that it’s quite a stroke of genius!

Designer: OuterNative

It’s unclear where the idea of the JackBag was born from, but the end result is a product that doesn’t compromise, even though it combines two different items into one single design. You’d expect a few tradeoffs as a result, but the JackBag is a pretty great drawstring bag as well as a highly functional outdoor jacket. As a drawstring bag, the JackBag comes with up to 35L of internal storage, while having a breathable mesh fabric on one side that keeps your back from getting sweaty. The bag (and conversely the jacket too) uses a rugged, dust-proof, water-repellent fabric that’s perfect for outdoor use, and even though the bag itself doesn’t come with compartments like your laptop bag does, it houses as many as 14 different pockets in its jacket avatar, allowing you to carry everything from your keys to a 10.5-inch tablet.

Flip the bag inside out and it magically transforms into a comfortable outdoor jacket that’s well-equipped for any adventure. The jacket itself uses JackBag’s proprietary OuternativeX Fabric™, a water-resistant, heat-trapping, quick-drying, and odor-free fabric that’s also durable and long-lasting.

The jacket comes with its own adjustable hood, pop-out fingerless gloves, and as many as 14 different pockets on the inside as well as the outside that let you carry practically any EDC object you’d need while traveling or outdoors, from your phone, wallet, and passport to even a foldable umbrella or an optional neck pillow. While the idea of 14 pockets may sound like a lot, the JackBag’s pocket layout helps evenly distribute the load across your body, so it doesn’t weigh you down. The high-quality zippers keep water and dust out of your pockets, and the JackBag itself protects you from the elements… and much more.

While the JackBag itself is a highly functional piece of apparel, it comes with two optional upgrades targeted around travel and commuting. The first is an optional upgrade to JackBag’s OuternativeX Reflector™ fabric, which turns the backpack and jacket into massive reflector panels that allow you to be visible in low-light settings to keep you safe from oncoming vehicles.

For ardent bicyclists, JackBag even offers an OuternativeX Armor™ upgrade with built-in shock-absorbing pads on the back, shoulders, and elbows that helps minimize impact during a fall, preventing injury.

Available for an early-bird discounted price of $239 (£180), the JackBag comes along with an inflatable neck pillow, a removable EDC pen, and a safety outdoor whistle. The JackBag itself is designed to be the perfect outdoor apparel, but the fact that it flips inward into a 35L drawstring backpack is sheer innovative thinking. Not only does its 2-in-1 design make it an incredibly convenient purchase, but the makers of JackBag are also quick to point out how wearing a JackBag also inadvertently gives you a backpack on demand, a feature that’s especially useful while you’re out grocery shopping and you forget to carry your own shopping bag. Let’s face it, we’ve all been there!

This jacket designed to survive an apocalypse is made of the same material used to coat the Apollo Mission spacecraft!

The Apocalypse Jacket from Vollebak combines polybenzimidazole, para-aramid, and antistatic to create a jacket that’s built to face the threat of global catastrophe.

Surviving an apocalypse could mean anything these days. Whether we picture zombies chasing us down suburban streets or even retreating to our bunkers as asteroids pelt the planet, our survival depends on our doomsday preparation. But how can we be prepared for the end of the world as we know it?

Designer: Vollebak

Vollebak, a clothing company rooted in science and technology, finds promise in fashion. Launching items like the world’s first Solar-Charged Jacket and even a pair of sweatpants designed to last a lifetime, Vollebak is back with their Apocalypse Jacket. Founded by two brothers, Nick and Steve Tidball, Vollebak uses science and technology to design clothes from the future, for the future.

Built to face the threat of global catastrophe, Vollebak’s Apocalypse Jacket is composed of a fabric that was originally invented by Dr. Marvel, a scientist called on by the Department of Defense to invent a fiber with no melting point. In the face of the Cold War and the Apollo program, Dr. Marvel found that polybenzimidazole (PBI), could offer exceptional thermal and chemical stability.

Used to coat the spacecraft that landed the first humans on the moon in 1972, “PBI retains its integrity after it is exposed to high heat, chemicals, and abrasion – it won’t stiffen and crack, unlike other fire-retardant materials,” as Vollebak puts it. Withstanding temperatures of at least 2,370°F, the Apocalypse Jacket can even survive the same temperature of black lava.

Since its initial development in 1961, PBI has continued to offer the highest tensile strength available in fabrics even when compared with firefighter uniforms. Five times as strong as firefighter uniforms, PBI isn’t the only aspect of the Apocalypse Jacket that will help us survive doomsday.

Lined with 23 pockets, Vollebak designed the Apocalypse Jacket in the likely chance that you’ll have to ditch your survival kit and backpack. Chemical-resistant, fireproof, water-repellent, and almost impossible to tear, the Apocalypse Jacket is built to survive.

With Vollebak’s Apocalypse Jacket, 23 pockets offer plenty of storage space on the run.

Even in the face of fire, nuclear waste, and human-eating zombies, the Apocalypse Jacket is built to survive.

Storing most of your personnel in the 23 lined pockets, all you’ll have to carry is your zombie-killing weapons.

The interior pockets allow you to keep all your Doomsday essentials on you at all times.

The post This jacket designed to survive an apocalypse is made of the same material used to coat the Apollo Mission spacecraft! first appeared on Yanko Design.

Finally tear-resistant, ballistic nylon clothes designed to use for the SpaceX journey to Mars!

There are few clothing brands that really match the design and innovation in fashion that Vollebak has managed in the last six odd years. The British clothing brand has previously left us in awe with a jacket fashioned to improve the sleep cycle of astronauts, and it is now tapping into the extraterrestrial void with the all-new Mars gear.

Combining the aspects it loves: Vollebak has designed Mars Jacket and Pants for the voyage to the red planet. It is fashioned with the unrelenting adoration for space exploration and crazy material science to solve a problem that is coming in the next few years. So, as the human race prepares itself to colonize Mars, Vollebak has clothing ready for engineers, architects, scientists and explorers who will be heading into space when the time is right. Until then, the jacket and pants are just apt for your next clubbing night back on Earth.

Vollebak, co-founded by twins Nick and Steve Tidball, has been creating clothes for the future and this intergalactic set of jackets and pants is only an extension of that intent. The gear is made from a tear-resistant, ballistic nylon outer shell but it’s absolutely soft and snug and is provided in two: gray and cream colors. Since the clothing is designed to venture to the next planet, it includes anti-gravity pockets to counter the shifting gravitational fields. Realizing that earthlings may experience nausea in their interplanetary voyage, the Mars gear is equipped with a 3D-printed vomit pocket on the chest, which features a removable and cleanable orange PVC vomit bag, should you need it.

Envisioned to facilitate the wearer when they are space-bound for the Moon or Mars eventually, the suit is almost fashionable for Earth-bound adventures too. If you think so, Vollebak Mars gear is available in six sizes from XS to XXL on the company’s website for $995.

This puffer jacket is filled with single-use masks and shows the pandemic-related environmental issues!

The pandemic has led to a huge lifestyle shift and in the bid to stay safe, the environment is suffering from the excessive use of plastic to wrap items, chemicals to sanitize, and the millions (or billions) of single-use PPE that eventually contribute to pollution. There are photographs of medical masks floating in the ocean with the animals and washing up on beaches is a heartbreaking sight. To bring this issue to light, designers Tobia Zambotti and Aleksi Saastamoinen created Coat-19, an icy blue puffer jacket made of discarded single-use masks, organic wool, and transparent recycled laminate.

The designers are based in Iceland that still has a mask mandate. Icelandic winds can be very strong so masks that aren’t carefully discarded blow from the streets into the otherwise pristine environment. To prevent this from happening they collected around 1500 light-blue masks from the streets of Reykjavík, thoroughly disinfected them with ozone gas, and shipped them to Helsinki where they became an unusual filling for “Coat-19” – a modern puffer jacket that highlights this absurd pandemic-related environmental issue.

Most of the disposable masks available in the market are made with a thermoplastic called polypropylene which is also used to produce poly-fill, the most common acrylic stuffing for cheap down jackets – same material, same function, different look. Some of the light-blue masks were partly filled with organic cotton wool in order to create the puffy silhouette of the trendy oversized jacket.

The outer layer is a semi-transparent breathable and waterproof laminate based made from bio-sources that let the disposable masks be visible. There are about 1500 masks that make the filling along with organic cotton wool. While the sight is jarring, it is a reminder we all need to practice safety sustainably. We may come out of this pandemic or learn to live with it, but the climate crisis is not something we can solve with a shot. This is a plea to use alternatives if possible so that your safety in the present doesn’t compromise on the future of the planet.

Columbia X Star Wars Mandalorian The Child Jacket: This Is the Way to Dress Your Tot

Like everyone else in the universe, I can’t get enough of The Mandalorian on Disney+. Besides binge-watching episodes, I dote over my Baby Yoda Chia Pet and even my dog, Ziggy, guards his Baby Yoda dog toy just like Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin. Although we doubt Mando ever chewed off Yoda’s ears.

So, imagine my dismay when I didn’t buy Columbia’s Mandalorian Interchange Hybrid Jacket the second it dropped. The $300 weather-proof zip-up instantly sold out, as did the streetwise $120 Mandalorian Heavyweight Hoodie, and even the $40 Mandalorian Helmet Gaiter, which kinda looks like a cosplay accessory or a soft version of welder’s safety headgear.

Funny thing is, that the collection included pieces for the whole family… the adult stuff sold out early. I would have put my money on the now-sold-out Child Bunting, a cozy fleece onesie with a green Yoda hoodie.

So, if you’re a fanatic (*raises hand*) and need a Columbia x Mandalorian collection piece – any piece, in any size – I advise you to shift into hyperdrive to grab The Child Jacket for toddlers ($75) before they get gobbled up like Sebula slurping up Baroonda Swamp Suckers.

Frankly, the puff jacket is the most practical of all the pieces, providing a water-resistant shell, “Omni Heat” lining, and a soft, mint green Sherpa hood with baby pink ear details. The last time we looked it was still available for human offspring sizes 2T and 3T.
