This Computer Case Doesn’t Run on Pyramid Power

Back in the 1970s, the idea of “pyramid power” was about as popular among crackpots as today’s flat earth theories. While the Egyptian pyramids and other pyramid-shaped structures possess no magical qualities, they are cool to look at and architecturally significant. If you think pyramids are awesome, perhaps you’ll dig this pyramid-shaped computer case.

The AZZA Pyramid Mini 806 is a mini-mid-size case for building your own custom PC. It features an aluminum structure along with four tempered glass side panels which let you peep inside and check out your computer componentry. It holds any standard Mini-ITX motherboard, and an SFX power supply. It also includes a 120mm cooling fan with RGB lighting, which sits above the computer components and extracts heat out of openings at the top of the glass.

Measuring 17.1″ tall, with a 14.5″ x 14.5″ footprint, it’s not exactly a conventional small form-factor computer case, but it definitely is eyecatching, and its stacked design makes for easy access to components.

If you’re ready to build your own desktop pyramid, you can find the Pyramid Mini 806 case over on Amazon for $249.99. For those looking to make a larger ATX-based computer, they make a larger model called the Pyramid 804V, which sells for $297.87.

This AirPods Case Looks Like a Mini Cooper

So you have a pair of fancy and expensive AirPods. You could just carry around them in the standard, nondescript white case that Apple ships them in, or you could dress them up and make them your own. I choose to go with a more personalized look. Being a gearhead, I can think of no better place to store my overpriced earbuds but inside of a tiny car.

elago’s silicone AirPods case is designed to look like a Mini Cooper, and I think they did a damned fine job achieving that goal, capturing the shape of the classic British subcompact. It holds either an AirPods 1 or 2 charging case inside, while still working with wireless or plug-in charging via the cutout in its rear license plate.

Even cooler, the headlights and taillights glow in the dark, with a bluish glow up front, and red in the back. And if some other AirPods case doesn’t see them and rear-ends your AirPods, they’ll be okay since they’ll just bounce off of the rubbery silicone.

The elago Mini Car AirPods case comes in Fire Engine Red, Classic White, or a color I’m particularly keen on, British Racing Green. They’re available now over on Amazon for about 15 bucks each. Beep Beep.

This AirPods Pro Case Looks Likes It Came from Easter Island

So you spent a pretty penny on a pair of Apple’s pricey AirPods Pro earbuds. You can’t just carry them around in their nondescript white charging case now, can you? You need something special to go with your fancy wireless audio gear, and I think this case definitely meets that criteria.

The Portrait Stone case makes your AirPods Pro case look like an ancient stone statues like the ones on Easter Island. Unlike the mysterious stone Moai created by the Rapa Nui, this one was made much more recently, using soft and stretchy silicone. It’s also much wider than it is tall.

It’s a fun way to protect your precious earbuds and to visit one of the world’s wonders without leaving your house. This particular version of the case is available from Hong Kong outfit Brando for $16, but you can find similar ones over on Amazon for a few dollars less. Buy a bunch, and you can stand them up just like the ones at the famed tourist attraction. They’re a bargain compared to flying all the way to Chile to see the real deal, and you don’t have to worry about getting in trouble for knocking them over.

Samsung’s two-part case for the Galaxy Z Flip is reasonably effective… and pretty cool

While we’re still figuring out how to have flexible screen protectors on folding phones, Samsung’s solved the case of how to build a protective cover for its flexible Galaxy Z Flip. A vast majority of smartphone owners use a cover with their smartphone (I’m one of them), and the catch with the flexible smartphone has mostly been whether it’s possible to build a good case that flexes with the phone too.

It’s a good thing that the Galaxy Z Flip has an inward screen, giving you enough real estate on the outside for a protective cover. The Galaxy Z Flip smartphone case comes in a two-part design that respectively snaps onto the upper and lower halves. This leaves an empty band around the hinge, which is both good because you don’t want anything interfering with the hinge mechanism, and bad because the hinge is sort of the thing worth protecting!

In any case, the two-piece case (can we officially call it the Bikini Case) comes with a hard plastic sub-surface for strength and a svelte faux-leather upper for class. The case should work reasonably well fending off scratches or dents, but don’t really expect it to protect your folding phone from anything rather extreme. Might I suggest a regular smartphone with a thick bumper case…
