DC Comics Movie Poster Variant Covers Coming Soon

DC Comics has been releasing monthly themed variant covers for a while now. We saw their LEGO variant covers back in August. For March 2015, DC reached out to the big screen for inspiration – and a bit of tongue-in-cheek humor.

These 22 variant covers were inspired by classic Warner Bros. movie posters. The Detective Comics variant cover shown above is of course based on The Matrix. Some of the other covers won’t be as familiar to younger folks. Fortunately Redditor Ian Mazgelis shared this Imgur gallery that compares the variant covers with the actual posters that inspired them.

There are so many outstanding combinations there, from Aquaman and Free Willy to Batgirl and freakin’ Purple Rain. There should be a The Brave and the Bold-style DC all star cartoon series where all of these silly crossovers happen.

DC Comics to Get LEGO Variant Covers

Sometimes you have marketing campaigns that stink, like DC Comics recent “selfie” variant cover theme. Then other times they nail it, like with their latest idea. To celebrate the LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham video game being released later this year, DC is letting the minifigs take over the covers.

Soda Can Covers Hide Your Beer

Keep your alcoholism to yourself with these nifty beer can covers that make your beer look like a soda. These reusable covers wrap around your beer can so that you can keep drinking without anyone suspecting a thing – unless you are obviously drunk, of course.

They’re made by cutting open actual aluminum soda cans, then carefully cutting off the tops and sanding all the sharp edges so you don’t slice your fingers off. They have several styles available. The important thing is that none of them look like a beer.

People don’t appreciate you drinking your booze everywhere, so just go undercover. Now you can really have a Coke and a smile. That guy sure looks happy drinking that soda. So happy he can’t walk. And he keeps running to the bathroom too.

You can find the Hide-a-Beer Soda Can Covers over on eBay.

Wood Veneer Cover For Your PS4

ps4-lifestyle-sd_1024x1024

Wood is the new black. Maybe. We’re not sure how cool wood is to be honest, but we can tell you we’re not hating on Balolo’s Wooden Cover for the Playstation 4. It’s made from a 0.7mm thin layer of actual wood, and you have the option of buying the cover and applying it yourself, or ordering a PS4 from the company with the cover already applied. You have a choice between walnut, bamboo, ‘zebra’, and cherry wood, and the cover only will set you back a hefty €149, or $205. Adding a PS4 along with that brings the price up to €599, or $826, which means there’s a roughly $200 bump for the cover’s installation. Maybe you can figure it out yourself?

The notebook covers sell for ¥12,800 Yen (~$125 USD), which seems a bit steep when you consider that ¥19,800 (~$193 USD) will buy you a complete Star Wars Lumix camera. I suppose it costs a lot to run the Empire.
