Very Personal Training

I have hired a trainer to help me plan my exercise routine and one of her main tasks whilst I workout is to keep an eye on my posture. It is very easy for us to get it wrong, simply because our muscles in those area are weak and tend to stay in their comfort zone. This of course results in injury. To prevent this, especially when you are working-out alone, we have here the Smart Trainer concept.

The concept is a projection camera that keeps an eye on your posture and shows you the corrected form. I love it for its intuitiveness and the promise of keeping you safe.

Air Purifying Drone

The city is our home! Based on this premise is the UrbanCONE – a personalized drone that aims to keep your surrounding environment pollution-free. Inspired by jellyfish, this floating device stays afloat thanks to the air fans. As a part of the Semi-finalist concepts of the 2014 Electrolux Design Lab competition, it will be intriguing to see if this urban mass air purifier makes it to the finalist list this year. More details here.

Age of the Yura

Yura is a personal bartender that can make anything from a healthy cocktail, tea to coffee. Besides being this futuristic droid that hovers and flies, it has the ability to make your drink with the accurate number of calories that your diet requires. The main body of the appliance features a smart cartridge that can heat or cool the beverage.

Powered by a computer chip, the device has features like power settings, navigation map, voice commands, WiFi, email and software download. This self-recharging flying robot uses kinetic energy to power itself. As a part of the 2014 Electrolux Design Lab shortlisted Top 35 Semi-Finalists, I’d love to see how this concept progresses down the charts.

Personal Bakery

Portion control is one of the best ways to lose weight and the Bake.A.Dish is a great appliance that can help you do that. Essentially it is an oven designed to bake bread and biscuits in individual portions and double up as dinnerware. The oven also gives you the flexibility of trying out new shapes and designs for baking, moreover it encourages you to experiment with healthy ingredients and eat better.

Bake.A.Dish is 2014 Electrolux Design Lab Top 100 entry, you can vote for this or any other entry here. Voting closes on May 16, 2014.

DreamPad Plays Tunes Only You Can Hear

DreamPad

Nothing beats listening to some soothing music before heading off to dreamland. But what’s music to my ears might not be for my roommate, who thinks the Rolling Stones sing the perfect lullaby. Two speakers in one room? Not a good idea. But what’s a good idea is the DreamPad, which is a pillow that plays songs that only you can hear.

The DreamPad works by using conductive technology to send the tunes straight to your ears, so that even someone sleeping next to you won’t be able to hear them. It also makes bedtime jamming more comfortable, because if you’ve ever slept with headphones on, then you know what a pain that could be.

The DreamPad comes with five music programs that you can choose from upon purchasing. You can download the tunes to your smartphone or opt to include a Sony Walkman MP3 player in case you don’t have a music player yet. It’s available online for $179.
