This iron attached to a table doubles up so you’ll never have to hide your ironing board again!

The Ensemble is a multifunctional ironing board that transforms into a mirror when not in use so you’ll never have to hide your ironing board again.

The days of shoving ironing boards into our coat closets and sliding them between laundry room shelves are finally past us. So are the days of bending over backward just to use them. Well, almost. Ensemble, an ironing board design concept from a team of designers with Off Garage design studio, aims to transform the ironing board into a multifunctional standing mirror that can spin over its two-legged base to become a horizontal ironing board.

The designers at Off Garage merged the ironing board with the mirror because they naturally go hand in hand. We iron our clothes, we wear them, and we use the mirror to tune up the finished look. It makes sense for both items to be in the same room, better yet, to be the same piece of furniture.

From one side, Ensemble is your traditional floor mirror with a two-legged base that’s connected to the mirror’s center, allowing it to tilt and spin over the floor base. When users spin Ensemble over, the ironing board function is revealed. Turning 90° in one direction, the mirror becomes a fully functional, horizontal ironing board.

Along the backside of the mirror and the ironing board’s front side, Off Garage incorporated a storage compartment where the iron, water, and perfume canisters, and brush plates are kept. With Ensemble, when users want to iron their clothes, instead of pulling from the far reaches of the coat closet, all you have to do is flip the mirror over and choose a brush plate for the iron before tending to the wrinkles of your clothes. In addition to the storage compartment, users will find a perfume steamer below a hanger to apply different scents to their clothes while steaming their wrinkles out.

The Ensemble has a two-legged base that hinges the mirror at its center to transform it into a horizontal ironing board.

The Ensemble features a storage compartment at its bottom that contains the iron, brush plates, as well as perfume, and water cannisters.

When the Ensemble is positioned for ironing, the heat-resistant plastic covering allows for safe steaming and ironing.

Users can hang their clothes from the built-in hanger and then steam them with perfume scent to get the wrinkles out.

Users can easily pop off brush plates to swap them out for new ones.

The water canisters are easily removable and can be refilled.

These 3 smart objects remind senior citizens to take pills, read without strain and stay connected!

There are not enough product designs that focus on the senior citizen demographic. As life around us speeds up, we incorporate gadgets that help us keep up. But for those who are much older, life is slowing down and they need gadgets that keep up with their pace to make life convenient for them. It is kind of like the fear of missing out if they don’t adapt to the faster tech, but that is the beauty of design – with products like Familia they don’t have to worry about missing out anymore!

Familia is a collection of smart objects that aim to restore dignity to seniors by making them feel less dependent and more confident. These are specifically created to appear like everyday objects with minimal aesthetics and simple UI to make sure it isn’t another thing they have to learn to operate. As people grow old they often tend to hide things that make them feel “old” and with a help of this smart clock, lamp/magnifying glass, and digital mirror, senior citizens can live without being stigmatized. Each object offers subtle functionalities that respond to challenges faced by the elderly ranging from memory loss and health issues to vision damage and isolation.

The smart clock performs all its expected functions and also features a reminder cuckoo bird that will pop out to deliver the medication which helps the user to not miss any dose. Medicines are not happy reminders and a small detail like the cuckoo bird adds playfulness that resonates with all ages. The mechanism is based on a 28-compartment wheel operated by a PCB which, by turning, pours the programmed dose of medication into the cuckoo cup that pops out at set times. Another object with a dual purpose is the lamp that doubles up as an illuminated magnifying glass that can also be used by any age group. It is a standing desk lamp that you can grab and turn around for reading because the luminous magnifying glass helps to see clearly. The final object is the mirror which is about looking at ourselves and at the same time at the ones we love – poetic and functional. “Because younger and older generations don’t use the same tools of communication, we designed an object that bridges this gap. On one side it is an app and on the other side, it becomes an automatically updated picture frame. The mirror is designed to facilitate the dialogue between family members and strengthen family ties,” said the designers.

While the objects are meant for the elderly, inclusivity is key and all of these can be used by children and young adults as well which helps to reduce stigmas around the challenges faced by the older generation – it is not a weakness if everyone has it and overcomes it with objects they cherish!

This modern furniture holds a full-length mirror and hides a storage shelf!

Small space-friendly furniture has become my most pinned-to board on Pinterest. Maybe it is all that time I am spending at home that is making me turn into a furniture enthusiast and I love when a piece is multifunctional while occupying minimal space – that is the peak of furniture design for me. Orte is an addition to that list, it is an open shelf that combined with a full-length mirror in a vibrant pill form.

In urban homes, one often has to compromise on the kind of furniture they would like because there isn’t enough space to have a separate piece for each function – in this case, Orte saves the space you would need for a full shelf and a mirror by blending them into one. Its limestone base supports a rotating wooden frame with the mirror on one side and six hidden shelves on the other. The pop of red brightens up the corner where the furniture will be and stretched oblong shape makes it easy to fit in any corner. It can be used as a dresser, a bookshelf, or the stuff you need to grab quickly without it being on display always.

Orte is designed using high-quality limestone from the Bauxite lake near the bay dell’ Orte in Puglia in Italy and is 180 x 40 x 28 inches in dimensions. Limestone and colored wood complement each other and make it stand out. Having lived in Manhattan, I can confirm that it is rare you get a full-length mirror in your home and you can always get a stand-alone one but it will take up a corner that can obviously be used by something that gives you more storage (another city problem) – so Orte hits two birds with one ‘limestone’.

This moon-inspired mirror creates your home’s perfect mirror selfie interior!

The moon is an ever-present factor in our life and has inspired poetry’s while being the focal point of romantic movies to werewolf culture. Whether you are a sci-fi fan, pop-culture fan, nature enthusiast or just a romantic at heart, we all want a part of the moon. Granila Santisteban’s Luna Mirror does that by bringing you the moon’s aesthetics with the functionality of a mirror.

The Luna Mirror will pull you towards it like the moon pulls the ocean! This mirror is the most minimal way to bring a little bit of celestial aesthetic to your interiors. “The Crescent moon design is made of sand and pure pigments, on a mirror measuring 60 cm in diameter. Each piece is unique and different from the others because it is made in the same phase in which the moon is passing. It is exposed to the night, the serene and the next day to the sun to seal the agreement” says Granila. The entire process follows the moon and the handcrafted design makes each crater, every inch of that surface as unique as your home is.

Given our current scenario and the threat of COVID hanging on us, I would honestly love to have this serene lunar landscape in my home, upping my Instagram quotient. And if you ever don’t have a clear enough sky to gaze at the moon, you know another place to find it!

This Watch Has an Infinity Mirror Background

Growing up back in the 1970s, I remember going to the furniture store with my parents, and being hypnotized by those dual-layered mirrors that had lights built into them, creating a sort of infinite light effect. While the look might be questionable in a modern home, it certainly was timely in the disco era.

Now, you can own a watch that produces a very similar effect, but using blue LEDs instead of tiny incandescent bulbs.

The effect on this wristwatch from discount watchmaker Skmei is decidedly more futuristic, especially against the black backdrop of its case. When the display is turned off, the dial’s background works as a mirror, so you can look at yourself and check for any food stuck in your teeth.

It’s made from ABS plastic and costs less than 20 bucks, so I’m guessing this watch isn’t going to give your Rolex a run for its money, but it does look cool, and if it ever dies, you can just use it to give yourself a long look in the mirror.
