Arduino-Powered Bracelet Can Be Used as a Smartwatch, Plays Tetris

Earlier this year, we saw Kevin Bates’ Arduboy, a business card-sized gaming device powered by an ATmega328P Arduino board. He’s going to launch that device this December, but in the meantime he’s working on another Tetris-playing trinket, the Ardubracelet.

This very early prototype uses the same chip as the Arduboy. It has a flexible circuit board, three tiny OLED screens, capacitive strips on either side and a 10-hour rechargeable battery. Here’s Kevin demoing the Ardubracelet as a smartwatch:

Here’s Kevin playing Tetris on the Ardubracelet:

Kevin is thinking of replacing the ATmega with one that has Bluetooth built-in, as well as embellishing the bracelet with 3D printed parts. Keep an eye on his blog for updates on the Ardubracelet.

Cicret Smart Bracelet Projects Your Phone’s Display on Your Arm: Remote Armtop

If you think that Google Glass’ and smartwatch displays are too small for you, keep an eye on the Cicret Bracelet. French company Cicret claims its gadget can project your mobile device’s display on your skin. Not only that, it can also detect your touch input and send it back to your device.

Apparently the bracelet uses a picoprojector to show what’s on your mobile device’s screen on your skin. You’ll then be able to interact with the projected display as if it was your phone or tablet’s actual screen with the help of eight proximity sensors built into the bracelet. The bracelet’s own processor will analyze your input and send it back to your device.

The bracelet will also supposedly have its own onboard storage, although I’m not sure if it can open files on its own.

Coundc too good to be true? Perhapc. It also doesn’t help that Cicret actually launched two different products in one fundraiser: the bracelet and a privacy app (hence the company’s name). You can pledge at least $399 (USD) on Indiegogo to receive a Cicret Bracelet as a reward. The company is shooting for a $600-$700 retail price, but even with the steep discount I think you should wait for an actual demo of the bracelet before you part with your money.

Minimalist Sonic Screwdriver Bracelet: Don’t Blink (or You Might Miss It)

You’ll have to look a bit harder to notice what this bracelet represents, but Doctor Who fans should see it after a second or two. This neat minimalist Sonic Screwdriver bracelet is from Etsy seller Emmashandmadedesigns and is a simple way to display the Doctor’s prized multitool on your wrist.

It is a classy way to show your love for the Doctor and his tools of the trade. Each bracelet is just £5.99 ($10.25 USD), and they’re available in 9th, 10th and 11th Doctor’s versions.

Doctor Who fans will get it, while other people will just think you have a nice simple bracelet. It’s like a secret message between Whovians.

DJ Inspired Jewelry

earbud necklace DJ Inspired Jewelry
Here’s a line of men’s jewelry that’s a bit more badass than your typical baubles. The Novum Collection is a series of DJ inspired jewelry pieces that blend music and technology into something edgy and sophisticated. Like the earbud necklace above. Show off your dedication to tunes with a set of earbuds made of precious metals- made from sterling silver and available in a variety of finishes such as gold plated.
audio plug pendant DJ Inspired Jewelry
There’s also the audio plug pendant above. The plug is actually hollow inside so you can store an extremely small amount of something inside- maybe some “DJ powder”? It comes on a diamond cut sterling chain.

Lastly is the audio plug bracelet. I like how it actually “plugs in” to function as a clasp. If you want to get down with these jewelry pieces you don’t have to drop the bass but you do have to drop a few hundred bucks depending upon the style.

Donor Cable Lets Phones Share Their Lifeblood – Power

“Donate energy to save a phone, and donate blood to save a life.”

Those are the wise words you’ll find on the inside of the Donor Cable. How often have you found yourself working so intently on your mobile that you fail to notice the fact that it’s dangerously low on power? If it’s more often than you’d like, then a power bank or one of these Donor Cables might come in handy.

phone donor cable t 620x327magnify

The Donor Cable is basically a cable that lets you siphon power from another mobile device. That means you can still bum some power off of the people around you, even though they might not have power banks or chargers for your phone with them.

When you’re done siphoning power to your phone, just curl it right back up into a bracelet and wear it.

The Donor Cable was designed by Y&R Moscow for Azerbaijani cellular network Nar Mobile, who gave it away to people who recently bought an Android phone. Hopefully, the idea picks up and people all over the world can get their hands on one of these, too.
