Giddel toilet cleaning robot is what the future of cleaning should be

Robots are designed to do tasks that are difficult or dangerous for humans, so it seems only fitting that there should be one for cleaning the bowl, too.

There almost comes a time when family members or housemates fight over the Porcelain Throne, but none actually like to stick around to clean it. Considering everything that goes inside, it’s really no surprise that cleaning the toilet ranks the highest in chores that even grownups don’t like to do. Some even hire other people to do that, but why settle for a regular expense when you can just buy a robot that is only too happy to clean the toilet for you. And that’s exactly what this rather cute-looking little guy is made for, to make your life a little bit less stressful, at least once in a while.

Designer: Atlan Robotech

Considering what it’s designed to do, it’s almost a bit ironic that Giddel looks almost too cute to get dirty. Big blue eyes set on a black face almost look at you innocently while hovering in the middle of the toilet bowl. A push on one of those eyes, which are actually control buttons, sends Giddel methodically spinning and scrubbing that toilet clean, including the hard-to-reach places that you probably wouldn’t even dare touch.

The robot has a predominantly white and blue color scheme that you might consider odd for something that’s bound to get really dirty quickly. While that is true, it also makes it easier for owners to see if Giddel itself needs some cleaning. There will be no escaping that task, unfortunately, but the promise of an antimicrobial plastic surface should alleviate some fears at least.

Like other robot cleaners, Giddel also has a dock where it sits and charges when not needed. You can also use your choice of liquid cleaning solutions, so you won’t be locked into whatever the company sells, which is good because it doesn’t actually sell any. It does sell brush replacements, which is pretty much all there is when it comes to prolonging the use of this robot.

Before you think that Giddel is something just for lazy folks, the robot does have a benefit for a specific class of people. A toilet cleaning robot that’s easy to set up and use will be critical for people with disabilities who can’t do that themselves and don’t always have help available. This is definitely the kind of robot that will be essential in homes of the future, and not just vacuum cleaners and mopping robots.

Cleaning Appliances designed to spruce up your home right in time for the Chinese New Year

Today, millions of people all around the world, began celebrating the Chinese New Year, which marks the transition from the Year of the Ox to the Year of the Tiger. Also deemed, the Lunar New Year, the celebrations for this day usually involve catching up with family and friends, bursting firecrackers, watching traditional dances, drooling over exquisite feasts, and of course, decluttering and cleaning up your home in preparation for a year of whole new blessings and victories! And a couple of innovative and unique home appliances can really help you out with this! From a space-saving vacuum cleaner to an air purifier designed in the form of a turntable – these handy cleaning appliances are all you need to Marie Kondo your house and welcome the Year of the Tiger in the tidiest manner possible. Happy cleaning!

1. H5

H5 is a multifunctional vacuum cleaner designed for small spaces that can break down into four parts that fit into a compact charging bin for easy storage. H5 keeps an overall slim build when assembled and when disassembled so it doesn’t take up too much space in storage. When disassembled, H5 breaks down into four parts and fits into one charging case that can easily slip away behind any table or into the closet to free up floor space. When users would like to use the vacuum, putting H5 together comes just as easily as putting together any other vacuum. The main pipe connects via telescopic tubing where the vacuum head also easily attaches.

2. The Aether

Combining the goodness of air purification and music with an aesthetically pleasing form factor, designer Hyunbin Yang has conceived the AETHER. This Bluetooth speaker and air purifier in the shape of a modern turntable can be a centerpiece of disguise no matter where you choose to place it at home. The speaker is controlled remotely by a smartphone or smart device to play any music you like, well before you set foot into the house. So, the time you have can be spent on other tasks, while the mood of the house is already set. The biggest advantage that the AETHER has over the other air purifiers we have seen in our time is the convenience with which the air filters can be swapped. Here changing the filter is as easy as replacing a vinyl on the turntable.

3. The Alpha Pillow 2

The Alpha Pillow 2’s design starts with a bamboo-charcoal-infused foam mass, which apart from providing the benefits of memory foam, also uses activated carbon to neutralize microorganisms and toxins. The carbon-infused foam does a pretty standup job of keeping your pillow free of germs and microorganisms, the Alpha Pillow’s silver-fabric cover forms the first line of defense, destroying bacteria, viruses, and molds before they can even propagate. The pillow itself comes with a bamboo fabric cover, followed by a unique fabric made from silver fibers that are lab-tested to be incredibly efficient at self-sanitizing the pillow.

4. The Narwal T10

The Narwal T10 will immediately strike one as something so different from your usual robot vac, even the ones with 2-in-1 mopping and vacuuming functions. For one, both its base and the robot itself are coated in white, a color that’s most often associated with cleanliness and sanitation. It also gives off a better minimalist vibe, though that may come at the expense of dirt and stains being more visible on the product’s surface. The T10’s base station is also considerably larger and bulkier than other robot vacuums, but that is both intentional as well as an illusion. Robot cleaners with narrower stations actually have larger bases for the robot to stand on, taking up almost the same amount of floor space anyway. With Narwal’s design, the robot goes inside the station completely and hides any part that humans or pets can trip on. Additionally, the larger size is necessary to support the T10’s mopping functions, which we’ll get to later.

5. The Giddel Toilet Cleaning Robot Kit

The Giddel Toilet Cleaning Robot Kit is all you need to maintain a super clean toilet! The robot is perfect for cleaning those hard-to-reach spots in your toilet. You just need to remove the robot from its charging station and connect it to the mounting bracket. Add some toilet bowl cleaner to the bowl, and use Giddel to systematically scrub the rim, the bowl, the space under the bowl, and down the exit. Giddel’s telescopic arm can fit into toilets of all sizes, both small or large, and clean them effectively. Giddel’s circular and wavy motion ensures that it covers every inch of the toilet!

6. Elle

Inspired by the bathing rituals of elephants in the wild, Stalin Jr. designed Elle’s silhouette to resemble the shape of an elephant’s rump. Scaled down from the size of an actual elephant’s rump to around the same size as an air dryer, Elle is compact enough to fit right on any kitchen countertop. Elle functions as the go-to appliance in between meals, when there aren’t enough dirty dishes to use the full-size dishwasher, but you still want to keep the sink free of dirty dishes. Equipped with all of the functions needed for a thorough cleaning, Elle comes with a touch-automated control panel and wall-mountable water inlet valve.

7. Cork Vaccum Cleaner

This intriguing concept for a vacuum cleaner is not only multipurpose in design, it is also sustainable in construction. The storage section of the vac is made from cork, which is biodegradable and has a warm ambiance to it. The vacuum pipes and other parts are designed in a manner to be stored within the cork shell that then neatly covers using a lid. The possibility of concealing the entire appliance from sight saves valuable space at home and leaves the vacuum to still be used in the open with a different purpose.

8. WITS Collection

ROLL, for example, looks like a simple fabric-covered stool, though the seam at the top clearly indicates that it can be opened. Rather than being a hidden container, however, it can accommodate a detachable UV light module that can clean larger objects like toys, books, or even bags. It’s something handy to have around the house, especially during these days when people tend to worry a lot about indoor sanitation. FLOAT definitely has a simple cabinet feel to it, one that’s designed to stand by your bed for easy access to your things. However, a portion of its top surface actually acts as a wireless charging area for your phone so you won’t have to worry about forgetting to plug your phone in every night. Pull the top drawer, however, and you’ll be greeted by a soft LED light that could save you a lot of pain at night.

9. The Everloop Dish Brush

With the Everloop dish brush’s design, you can continue to maximize the functionality of your product while reducing waste. The head of the brush has a concave lid mechanism that compresses the bristles against the inner part of the brush. The bristles are snapped into place and you can clean effortlessly. This concavity also works as a soap container and dosifier while you clean your tableware. To replace bristles, use any flat piece from your kitchen as a lever to open it and replace it with a new set of bristles. The body of the brush is made from recycled plastic collected from discarded accessories and the bristles are made from natural fibers (bamboo, castor beans, etc).

10. The Cat Person Litter Box

With Cat Person, Granneberg set out to design a litter box that appears like a piece of furniture to blend in with other interior design elements. To achieve this, Granneberg outfitted the Cat Person litter box with a wooden top lid that gives it the same appeal as a small side table. Ensuring casts enjoy enough airflow and light while taking care of business, Granneberg punctuated the wooden top lid with circular cutouts, creating a ventilated and well-lit interior space. Granneberg also designed the litter box with larger-than-average dimensions to allow bigger cats to have enough room to sit and turn around with comfort. An ergonomic and durable scooper accompanies the litter box that comes with a handy storing mechanism to avoid the eyesore of litter dropping to the floor.

Automated Glasses Cleaning Machine: I Can See Clearly Now, the Smudge is Gone

Glasses: they’re always getting fingerprints and oily smudges on them, and, at least in my case, ice cream. You know the old adage: you eat with your eyes first? It’s actually harder than it sounds. Enter the LensHD cleaning system currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter. It’s an automated optical and sunglass cleaning solution that wipes lenses with microfiber-covered sponges. Think of it like one of those massage chairs, but for cleaning glasses.

$89 will secure a LensHD system at early bird pricing, with units expected to ship in November. The system, powered by a USB type C cord, takes about a minute to clean glasses, wiping them in an off-center rotation pattern to simulate “the comprehensive cleaning of a human.” See? I always knew my cleaning was comprehensive! Somebody call my parents so they can be proud of me.

Alternatively, use the bottom of your shirt to wipe your glasses like I always have. It’s worked fine for years, plus I don’t have to worry that my glasses are dirty, but my automated cleaner is at home because I’m already wearing it! And if I’m not, well, my wife is sure to let me know before I ever get in the car to leave.

This sustainable dish cleaning brush is infinitely reusable thanks to its replaceable bamboo bristles!

In 2018, we produced 380 million tonnes of plastic, can you imagine how much that number has grown in the last three years especially during the pandemic where we saw a steep rise in the use of plastic? NOS had created the Everloop Toothbrush which was wildly successful, so they created a family member for it – the Everloop Dish Brush. Every single plastic toothbrush ever made still exists today in some form or another, either in a landfill or the ocean. That’s a pretty scary statistic when you imagine that there are more than 7 billion people on this planet using toothbrushes that they throw out every 3-4 months on average.

We eat more times than we brush, so it is natural that we use far more dish scrubbies, dish sponges, and dish brushes which just adds to the mounting plastic waste problem. With the Everloop dish brush’s design, you can continue to maximize the functionality of your product while reducing waste. The head of the brush has a concave lid mechanism that compresses the bristles against the inner part of the brush. The bristles are snapped into place and you can clean effortlessly. This concavity also works as a soap container and dosifier while you clean your tableware – can you hear the Monica Gellers of the world scream with joy at this?

To replace bristles, use any flat piece from your kitchen as a lever to open it and replace it with a new set of bristles. The body of the brush is made from recycled plastic collected from discarded accessories and the bristles are made from natural fibers (bamboo, castor beans, etc) just like the Everloop Toothbrush. After the bristles wear out, you can dispose of them without guilt because they have ZERO plastic. The bristles are 100% compostable compared to the disposable heads in the market which just add to plastic pollution. Each dish brush comes with 5 sets of bristles and you can buy more replacements later too. Even the packaging is made out of 100% compostable thermoformed paper pulp! Could this BE any more perfect?

The world’s first autonomous electric street sweeper reduces 3 million metric tons of C02 emissions!

I believe we have arrived in the future when I see things like a fully autonomous street sweeper in action! Trombia Free is developed by a Finnish road maintenance equipment manufacturer Trombia Technologies. The unique thing about this electric vehicle is that it uses less than 15% of the power needed by heavy-suction sweeping technologies that are currently available. By simply doing that it reduces carbon emissions by approximately 3 million metric tons per year!

The performance-heavy vehicle gives a major upgrade to the current competitor products that still rely on suction performance that was invented in the 1950s. “We simply cannot enter 2020s green and sustainable era with such outdated solution. With the globally patented Trombia technology we are able to take down the power requirement dramatically, so turning it into a beautiful and powerful, electrified, and autonomous device has been an exciting journey to this day,” said Antti Nikkanen, CEO of Trombia Technologies. Trombia Free will be the world’s first fully autonomous street cleaning device that is built to operate in all weather conditions.

The street sweeper comes equipped with a safety margin zone in front of or surrounding the unit, depending on its direction. That way, if a person, animal or object falls or runs in front of the vehicle, it will register them as obstacles and stop automatically.

As for jobs, the company said that the autonomous sweepers will make room for drivers to become operators, service managers and route or logistics planners. The Trombia Free boasts an annual operation total of 500 hours of continuous high-power sweeping (85% more energy-efficient than manual street sweepers), making it an average of 15 times more cost-effective as well. Unlike conventional sweepers, Trombia Free doesn’t use water, instead combining cyclone filtration, aerodynamics and humidifier methods to control dust. Because it is lighter and quieter, it can operate at night and even indoors.

Trombia Technologies, which patented its first street sweeping technology in 2013, has products being used in at least seven countries throughout North America, Northern Europe and Central Europe. Trombia Free will roll out through a year-long pilot program in 2021, and mass deliveries are set to begin in early 2022.

Playfully designed home cleaning equipment could make chores much more entertaining!

Meet Dustache, a dustpan with a quirky Pringles-ish avatar that hopes to bring a fun, storytelling element to the act of cleaning. A portmanteau of Dust + Mustache, this dustpan and broom by Peleg Design is your personal clean-up crew that can take care of any dry-waste mess around your house. The dustpan forms Dustache’s face, while the broom is styled to look like a nose and nice thick pair of man-whiskers. Whenever you come across some dirt or dust, or you accidentally spill some food over, just grab ahold of Mr Dustache and his brush and pan are always ready for duty… and don’t worry, he doesn’t mind getting crumbs in his moustache- that’s his job after all!

Designers: Dar Stern + Peleg Design Studio

What Dustache does so wonderfully is it bring a quirky and fun appeal to an otherwise mundane task. It’s something the folks at Peleg have managed to do really well with their products. Dustache’s fun personality and oddly cartoonish design make cleaning up much more fun. It’s almost as if you’ve got yourself a clean-up buddy as you conveniently feed crumbs into Dustache’s non-existent mouth using his rather furry (and detachable) upper lip!

This Electric Scooter + Cleaning Trolley Is the Public Sanitation Solution Your Community Needs

Here’s the problem. Street cleaning is a physically demanding job that calls for longer hours compared to indoor cleaning jobs and farther distances to travel (sometimes up to 16 km per day). The work is essential yet under-appreciated. It’s unfair to expect these workers, especially if they are older, to cover these distances on foot and pull a trolley of their cleaning supplies behind them. The Cleaning Board electric scooter presents a win-win situation; it takes the strain off of the workers and allows them to cover a larger area in less time.

The Cleaning Board consists of three parts: a supply bin, kickboard, and a mobile app. The bin has two compartments: one for broom handles and dust collectors, the other for smaller items, such as masks, a fire extinguisher, a first-aid kit, water, and a hot/cold pack. When the user isn’t traveling, the kickboard folds up against the cleaning vessel, transforming the scooter into a pushable cart. Also, light strips along the board’s edges make the vehicle (and rider) more visible at night. Finally, the Cleaning Board features a companion app that would send workers information about the trashcans on their route, which would help them prioritize specific stops.

Because we are still living in a pandemic, public sanitation is a top priority for cities around the world. The Cleaning Board was created to help those workers, not necessarily their employers. It just so happens that both parties benefit from this product. By extension, the Cleaning Boards improve the quality of life for the communities that use them, because they make it easier to maintain a safe, sanitary environment.

This ergonomic bottle mixes 5 cleaning liquids to create a custom cleanser for every surface!

If you were to open your cleaning closet, how many bottles would you find? Detergents? Bleach? Softener? Lysol? Not only does it clutter the space but it is also inefficient – have you ever had a Tide bottle fall on you while reaching out to get the soap? I can confirm its not pretty. Also, not everyone or every brand provides refills so all you are doing is going through an endless consumption cycle that is generating more waste. Clean surfaces but not a clean planet. Rena is a conceptual bottle designed to specifically solve the above issue – one bottle fits all!

Rena’s aim was to create an innovative bottle that could be a bank for all the cleaning liquids we needed. It has a reservoir tank and replaceable cartridge that holds concentrated chemicals that are mixed and diluted in specific ratios to clean different surfaces or dispense for laundry. It takes the guesswork out so that your surfaces and clothes are protected from your chemical calculations (let’s be real, ‘one cap’ is not a measurement). The bottle has an ergonomic design and using it is simple – insert the cartridge, fill in the water, select the surface you intend to clean on your Rena mobile app, and via Bluetooth the bottle will collect that data configure a detergent mix based on it. Then all you do is press the trigger and the bottle will dispense the concoction. I can only imagine Monica Geller screaming if she saw this.

Cartridges are created to be refillable to reduce landfill waste and can be customized by the brand. The chemicals are pressurized which makes it easy to move it into the mixing chamber without a pump. The safety mechanism makes sure the chemicals are not dispensed if the cartridge is not inserted in Rena. It also features a DC pump instead of the traditional pump and a 750 ml water tank. And lastly, it is rechargeable so no need to scrimmage through your junk drawers to find spare batteries. The universal detergent bottle makes cleaning more efficient, safe, and easier on the environment. Long road ahead but designs like Rena gives us a good headstart!

Peleg Design’s pelican is the only bird allowed in your kitchen!

I love to cook, but I hate to do the dishes after. The soaking dishes, the wet cloth, the soapy sponge – it is all so damp! Designer Gil Cohen has created Pelix for Peleg Design, a cute kitchen companion that will reduce your internal shrieks and actually lift your mood while doing dishes. This little pelican shaped cloth and sponge holder will be perched on your counter and the only thing that will fly is the time taken to do chores.

Pelix’s bright break is actually a cloth holder, so hang up that dishcloth while the body of the pelican is a cup for your sponge. Pelix makes it easy to keep dish cleaning essentials right where they are needed with its suction cup bottom, but unlike Ross Geller, it can pivot and make your life easier! Usually, we always look for a blind spot in our kitchen that guests cannot see to keep dishcloths and sponges because having them dry right there can ruin the interior aesthetics of your space, however, this handy pelican will fetch many compliments for its form while being super functional.

That is why it is called a pelican, not a pelicant – get it!?
